Even the marines would have succumbed to the plea of millions, in same manner the armored vehicles turned back after tears, flowers and rosaries were offered to them. Were you there?

The Marine Contingent was very loyal to Marcos. Also its Special
Forces. If fighting would had broke out. There was no way Enrile
and Ramos would had won.

Enrile used the Region II troops based in Cagayan and Isabela to
help in the EDSA revolution. So, the Americans had to kidnap Marcos
to Hawaii to get him out of their way. Some of the troops in Region
I are also gearing for a fight. Only, Marcos prevented them.

EDSA is nothing but a delusion. I admire more Marcos on this matter.
He prevented bloodshed among Filipinos.

It was a face saving for Marcos. The soldiers sent to disperse the people at EDSA changed heart, and returned to their barracks, some even joined the other side, very unlike the Chinese soldier who ran down his tank over the Tiananmen protester. Marcos probably sensed that any order to attck will probably be ignored anyway.

The EDSA is nothing but a delusion of the Filipinos. If Marcos
would had fought. There would be no EDSAs. Marcos still had the
firepower then. But, he did not use them. He did not want bloodhed.

So, we are deluding ourselves of this heroism. We should work for the
present. Not cling to the past. Look for the future. EDSAs are perpetrated by some political families. That they can stay in power.
And keep deluiding the Filipinos. Time to wake up!
