If what DJB means is that when someone says “good riddance,” “short shrift,” “a sorry sight,” “bated breadth,” “forgone conclusion,” “budge an inch,” “neither rhyme or reason,” and “let’s kill all the lawyers,” he’s not plagiarizing Shakespeare, then I wholeheartedly agree that we are all plagiarists.
