Hay naku! My tubong Makati pals have just texted me a slosh of Jojo Binay jokes. :-) Anyway I can vouch for Mayor Jejomar C Binay only one thing. He does attend the UP High General Alumni Reunions every December. If Jojo “Jobama” Binay becomes Prez, UP High will have made more history as the only high school in the nation to have produced three presidents. Let me list the two presidents it considers its sons: 1) The Great Apo Ferdinand Marcos, 2) General Fidel “Tabako” Ramos (BTW my high school has also produced a Prime Minister, PM Cesar Virata)
I wonder what the Office of the President-Elect of the United States makes of this political development? If Barack can snub Gloria and won’t take her calls, will he snub Baracko Jobama?
BTW, Fil-Ams I know who have read the Inquirer breaking news are laughing their heads off. They are asking if being black is key to becoming Pinoy prez and whether Jobama is more gwapo than Obama.
Anyway I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at Binay’s bid. Now I really envy the Americans. They have primaries on both sides of the political fence that can weed out comics from the presidential hopefuls and end up with one candidate on each side. But I hope readers can discern how a Jobama presidency will look like. I welcome an interesting exchange. I worked in Jojo Binay’s realm for a good 7 years and have a good impression of one side of Makati, the CBD (even if city hall towed my dad’s car while he was on an official call with the mayor). However I can’t say about the other Makati, across the “riles” and nearer the Pasig.
When I left Makati and my pals became midlevel execs during Gloria’s first term, they never liked Binay’s antics of trucking in the lumpen proletariat on Ayala to spook the President. Also we know the love hate tiff between Bayani and Jojo to the extent that there are no U turn slots anywhere in Makati.
Today Makati, tomorrow the Philippines! I don’t know who is the greater evil, Bayani or Jobama! We have to pray to the Holy Spirit for discernment! :-)
And so we have it. Our presidential derby has become interesting!

jobama could be elected by following the lead of the original “the one”. he should promise the “poor pinoys” (a) a minimum tax credit (or outright welfare check) of 5 thousand pesos for those earning less than 500 hundred thousand a year; (b) guarateed medical/dental care for the same people; (c) a weekly ration of rice, noodles and sardines per family; (d) free 3rd-run movie show each week; (e) free cremation at death.
after he is elected, who cares? he will be president for 6 years in any event. he can just order the printing of more pesos until it’s only good for wiping you-know-what in the bathroom.
Obama was never suspended for corruption nor his bank accounts been frozen by the IRS.
Jojo Binay is not Jobama. A wrong copy cat. Although Binay was chosen among the Top ten Best mayors in the world in 2006 , Makati is our Wall street in the Philippines. If we have to apply the greed at the real US wall street, we may experience a Philippine Financial Crisis that will make the world laugh for being stupid. :)
Sure, Jobama for Philippines. Welfare and Healthcare for all. Higher Taxation for the members of the Makati Business Club.
if Jobama is the best that the opposition can throw into the ring, I suppose we should brace ourselves for six more years of GMA in Noli De Castro. :)
Yes, blackshama, that Inquirer headline was truly funny.
To say Obama is Black is to deny his mother had a race, so said some astute pundits.
Obama is a mutt and a proud, well traveled mutt. Binay? Didn’t he go to harvard too? Ayan, pwede na talaga! Maalam ba siya mag-fundraising using the internets like Barack? :D
No, Resado for President. The man is a financial
genius. He will improve the economy by his five-
six economic theory.
President Reagan had his Reaganomics.
President Bush had his trickle down economics.
Resado has his five-six economics.
Resado may even win Nobel Prize on economics.
Imagine a five-six business prospering during a world economic crisis. Invest a few pesos. Then, an 800,000 pesos will be the return of investment.
Who can beat that ?
JojoBama
Jojo
B-Binay
A-Ama ng Bayan
Go for JojoBama for President!!!
