ChizNation vs. Camella

Chiz Escudero, the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) `main man’, will issue a statement tomorrow. People expected him to announce his presidential bid last October 12, but deferred it, hiding his problems by invoking “tragedy”. Sixteen days later, he will announce his plans amidst controversies of Loren thinking of abanding ChizNation and settle for Camella instead; or those “funding problems” with Cojuangco.

I suggest that instead of a pompous affair, Chiz should just announce what he plans to do, what his vision for the country is and even if does not win, what he intends to do afterwards. People want a responsible candidate, someone who will find time analyzing what’s happening, and telling us what needs to be done.

We just did not see it with Noynoy. Noynoy, the necropolitician, wants us to just remember what his mother did two decades ago and just reminisce the times when galunggong went from 10 pesos a kilo to 40 pesos.

We saw some semblance of what we hoped for in Gibo, but the weight of his association with Gloria is bearing him down. His commercial says “dapat ganito, dapat ganire” which directly points the blame to him and his principal. For nine years, they failed to  correct the fundamental systemic flaws.

Eventually, the game will pit ChizNation versus Camella, the young turk against a seasoned giver who thinks of Philippine politics as “pera pera lang”. It would pit the poster boy of a former Marcos crony with that of an emerging Crony-maker. Who will we support in the end?

We just did not see “what” with Noynoy? As far as I know, the campaign period haven’t started yet. Candidates are supposed to present their plans and agendas during the campaign, right? They should be doing consultations now with the people and consolidate and strengthen their party organization in preparation for the campaign and elections, which is what Noynoy’s group and other potential candidates are doing.

And you’re blaming the price of galunggong to Cory Aquino? Wow, and I thought you know better.

    Good luck to your candidate!

    • the usual excuse — the campaign period has not started so i won’t present my platform yet but, wait, i can present my theme song and start putting up all my posters now. how strange.

Loren Legarda has reminded all — candidate with most rallies with free haircut and medical check-up has best chances of winning.

Are you saying that our political parties have no platform? You’ll learn a lot by visiting their websites. For the Partido Liberal, of which Noynoy Aquino belongs, you can find their political platform at http://liberalparty.ph/platform/vision.htm

Having a theme song is not bad, especially if it’s “donated” for you and you didn’t spend a single centavo producing it. Hey, even countries have National Anthems, right? It’s a way to drum up your citizens/supporters.

You feel bad only if the song is not for your chosen candidate. And you don’t understand why “morons” like us support a particular candidate that you feel is not competent or qualified.

      • BongV BongV says:

What’s being said is political parties “platforms daw” have lots of motherhood statements – statements which are not specific, measurable, achievable, replicable, and time-bound.

For example – In the LP Platform, Economic Program, Make Transportation Clean and Efficient. It states “Immediate improvement in the rail network. Allowing more movement of goods and passengers by rail and causing less environment damage.”

It does not define how exactly will the rail network be improved. More rail lanes? More rail cars? More employees on same number of rail lanes and rail cars? Where’s the money coming from? What’s the time frame? Where will it be located?

Here’s another – “A reduction in fuel consumption. Price increases in gasoline will not be brought in unless and until compensation schemes for individuals and rural communities which have no alternative to the use of cars are already to be introduced.”

I agree that fuel consumption needs to be reduced. But, what exactly is your compensation scheme? How do you deal with these communities which have no alternative to the use of cars? Postpone until there are cars? What’s your time frame for rolling out your scheme?

Here’s another one Support a Community-wide Energy Tax on all energy sources. This will be related to levels of carbon dioxide emitted and will provide a strong incentive for saving energy and investing in cleaner sources. Extra revenue raised through the tax will be fed back into the economy by reducing other taxes such as VAT and by protecting those least able to adapt to the higher price of energy.

You are going to tax me for using energy – that’s fine. Now what if I roll out home-based solar energy, are you going to tax me on the energy I generated for myself – I should be getting deductions not taxes!

i didn’t say that but since you brought it up i’d say yes the political parties don’t have any real platform. all they have are motherhood statements.

“Having a theme song is not bad, especially if it’s “donated” for you and you didn’t spend a single centavo producing it. Hey, even countries have National Anthems, right? It’s a way to drum up your citizens/supporters.”

i’m not saying having a theme song is bad. but since you pointed out that it’s a way to drum up support i’d say or ask wouldn’t it be better for the electorate to be informed about the candidates’ platforms/plans and not be merely entertained with theme songs? i think you know exactly what i mean when i wrote this:

“the usual excuse — the campaign period has not started so i won’t present my platform yet but, wait, i can present my theme song and start putting up all my posters now. how strange.”

        now regarding this…

“You feel bad only if the song is not for your chosen candidate.”

me? feel bad? why should I? besides i don’t have a candidate yet. i’m still waiting for all the relevant information that can help me make an intelligent and informed decision. theme songs don’t count you know.

        finally…

“And you don’t understand why “morons” like us support a particular candidate that you feel is not competent or qualified.”

don’t worry i understand… noynoy is the son of ninoy and cory and he is “honest.” that’s the reason you support noynoy, isn’t it?

I dunno with you, but I find the guy as glib as he is wishy-washy. Smart-alecky, even.

Not Chiz Whiz, but a Chiz Curl, like a Jack or a Jill?

    • UP n grad says:

Another face-to-face Chiz-vs-Noynoy is shaping up, as happened in the 2007-Senatorial elections. Differences between the two are distinct. Their platform-web-page descriptions are quite different. [One was written in English before the page disappeared; the other, in Pilipino. One also has focus on skills training and jobs as well as education; Noynoy's was more the talsik-diyan theme]. Education credentials, also different. Family-life orientation, also different.

Dead people should be allowed to rest in their graves. We are going
to the garbage level in our politics. That we even use dead people
to get votes. The dead cannot do anything for us anymore. It is the
living who can do something for us.

We welcome young people to show themselves as the next generation
of leaders. Just show how to us you can better things. We are listening.

  4. Primer C. Pagunuran Primer says:

If aspirants still subscribe to the will of the party they belong to, signs indicate that it will come in this order:

    Escudero for president
    Loren for vice-president

On earlier developments, Mar gave way to Noynoy, right or wrong. Thus:

    Noynoy for president
    Mar for vice-president

If push turns to shove, another pair will come in this order:

    Erap for president
    Binay for vice-president

As for the administration, everything seems to be self-propelling or here we see:

Gibo, defense chief, runs for president
Ebdane, public works chief, runs for president
BAYANI FERNANDO, MMDA chief, runs for president (as independent)

Speaking of Gibo whose campaign focus may have been overfixated on his being a bartopnotcher (Shakespeare would have wanted lawyers killed anecdotally), is sadly an armchair bureaucrat who cannot operate as an effective “ground commander”.

Remember how his department (DND) and the AFP (under him) would rather have 10,000 M16 armalites be ‘rehabilitated’ at the tune of a whooping P84,000 per unit rather than acquire those brand new firearms made from Israel at about the same cost?

Gibo is just being fed information and then delivers his oratory as in the case of the TV footages projecting him the inefficient ‘man of the hour’ during the Typhoon Ondoy disaster.

So, we vote intelligently or ours is beyond redemption.

Kumalas na daw si chiz sa NPC…..

    now,what?

    • UP n grad says:

      Now, that’s a surprise!

      • Bert says:

Now, he’s partyless, no more choice but be independent for vice-president that can give Mar the worry.

      • Bert says:

Now, that’s more blessing for Noynoy and Villar, if Erap gives up too..some more blessings.

        Lalong kawawa si Gibo.

    • danny says:

He just resigned from the party, he did not say anything about conceding the run for the presidency. How is that good for Noynoy and Villar? And bad for Gibo for that matter?

      • Bert says:

Since Chiz is now without a party, and withour Danding’s NPC, Chiz now also has no money to sustain a presidential campaign. His best chance now is to run as an independent vice-president. I think that, of all the vice-presidentialbles, only Chiz can give Mar Roxas a run for his money.

A presidential fight without Chiz will be advantageous to either Villar or Noynoy because Chiz’s voters will go their way, and never to Gibo.

The same will happen if Erap quits his presidential ambition. This maybe the reason why the palace people kept on egging the poor guy to run inspite the spectre of disqualification. My take is that the COMELEC will allow Erap to run as president since there is a good chance that the Supreme Court might disqualify him after the election, repeat after the election. A disqualification after the election will invalidate all votes for Erap, or, will not be counted. This will be hitting two birds with one stone; 1)disqualifying Erap; 2) preventing Erap’s votes to go Noynoy or Villar.

Noynoy, Villar, Chiz and Erap on the running as oppositions will give the administration more ammunitions to say that Gibo will win the 2010 presidential election even if he’s nowhere registering in the surveys, heheh.

  6. danny says:

It’s no surprise at all! The reason why he deferred announcing his candidacy when he reached forty was he’s still negotiating and trying to get the support of Danding. Now that he don’t get it, a party or the support of a group is unimportant.” Ang taumbayan ang mga kapartido ko”. What hypocrite!!!

  7. UP n grad says:

When push comes to shove, this will be about money.
