Who hereare still in college, or who has children still in hischool or college?Do Pinas youth hear politics only from radio or their friends? Do Pinas parents even talk on their children about future of Philippines, GMA, corruption, Lozada, politics, the economy, job prospects?

Voting booth technology is not exactly "plug and play". Qualify and select bidders. Order equipment. Make or ship equipment. Set equipment up; test/certify (and pray nothing goes wrong that casts doubt on the integrity of the machines). Prepare the electronic ballots. Get the machines to the barangays. Get and train operators. Hundreds. Get and train the techies who will make them work. Hundreds. Hold the election. Certify results.

Scares me, frankly. There is no leeway for error. My wife can't get her driver's license in plastic form for six months. She can't get her plastic social security ID because none of the machines on Luzon work, and there is evidently no one capable of fixing me.

My confidence level is zeroed out, basically.

And I doubt that Alex Baldwin is a racist. My sense is he is a decent sort who occasionally struggles getting his brain to line words up right. We all suffer from similar flaws, we just don't have to do it in a global spotlight.

Joe America understands the industriousness, attention-to-detail and pagmamahal sa bayan of the Pinoys in Pinas so well that he now sees that Pinoys are not capable of preparing for the 2010-elections. Joe America is definitely not an Alec Baldwin.

Thanks, Joe.

GMA'S end-game scenario is looking like this:

Sure, Ding. I didn't start the side thread and am glad it is done. I appreciate the reference link.

I think it may be erroneous to assume there will be an election in 2010. It's getting too late to get the machines to work, and soon too late to switch back to manual . . .

A wise Congress would soon be thinking about rules to put the country under an Interim President (and extend the terms of all elected officials) should things indeed go wrong. It should not be left to Ms. Arroyo to do this. It should not be left to chaos . . .

ps, I miss the levity . . .
when someone is in real pain
even a star
who sleeps around

compassion is the ability to extend one's finer sense of caring
to another

get some

Oh, I don't defend Smith. He's an idiot.

You are attacking the victim, however. Even if you don't like her personality or that she sleeps around, at least respect her innocence in this particular incident. Don't rape her, shame her further, with your words. Just go off into your dark little closet and view her video . . . no need to pile on in public . . .
