Kulang kulang isang taon na lang at muling haharapin ni Juan dela Cruz ang hamon ng pagboto ang pagluklok ng tao mamumuno sa bansa. Noong nakaraang May 11, 2009 ay inilunsad ng ABS-CBN ang Boto Mo I-Patrol Mo Ako ang Simula at kasama dito ang ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, Countdown to 2010 Leadership Forum na ginawa sa Leong Hall sa Ateneo de Manila University kasama ang mga ilang mga personalidad na nagbabalak tumakbo sa pagkapangulo. Sina Senator Mar Roxas, Senator Chiz Escudero, Senator Richard Gordon, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro at Pampanga Governor Among Ed Panlilio ang mga dumalo sa nasabing forum.
Narito ang ilang mga punto na-i-note ko mula sa forums:
Para kay Senator Chiz Escudero
1. Ang pagiging batang edad niya sa politika ay parehong weakness at strength niya
2. Weekness niya ay hindi siya mayaman para pondohan ang hanyang pagtakbo
3. Hindi siya tumatanggap ng tulong sa mga taong hindi niya kilala
4. Ang NPC ay siyang may pinakamalaking contribution sa huling election na sinalihan niya.
5. Diktado ni Chiz ang sarili niyang pananaw at prinsipyo
6. Madaling maaccess na ng kabataan ang lahat ng impormasyon para malaman niyang lahat ang nangyayari sa loob at labas ng bansa
7. Ipinatigil ang pork barrel niya noong nagsampa siya ng impeachment kontra PGMA
8. Mali at illegal ang 3 Billion dahil ang ayon sa batas ay allotted lang ay 10 pesos per voter.
9. Kung naging presidente siya gusto niyang pagtuunang pansin ang edukasyon.
Para kay Senator Richard Gordon
1. Hindi easy ang pagiging presidente kailangang ipakita ang moral leadership, work ethic, firm at fair ka sa business.
2. Naligaw tayo ng landas mula sa martial law hanggang democracy at nawawala ang vision at upliftment ng bayan, nakakalimutan na natin ang values natin at pagpapahalaga sa kasaysayan.
3. Kailangan natin maglikha ng bagong mukha ang bansa para kilalanin tayo iuplift ang human dignity and uplift the standard of the people.
4. Ang dapat mo isipin kung paano ka magiging paasensuhin ang bayan
5. Ang presidente ay bully pulpit sya ang laging nakikita ng tao, siya ang nagrerepresesent sa bansa.
6. Baguhin ang attitude – aim high!
7. Provide a vision isipin mo kung anong gusto mong mangyari sa bayan
8. Ang presidente ay hinihikayat ang kanyang bayan na kumilos

Para kay Governor Among Ed Panlilio
1. Wala pang desisyon kung tatakbo sa posisyon, pero ang tanging gusto niya ay makapaglingkod sa bayan
2. It’s the people will decide if tatakbo siya o hindi
3. I believe I have the passion and fire for governance and serve the people
4. I minimize the corruption in Pampanga
5. Patriotic Filipino should sacrifice anything everything for the love of the country
6. We should address the issues on family planning and mining through dialogue
7. We should discuss the need of family planning program in connection of poverty and education
Para kay Senator Mar Roxas
1. Our (country) problems is internal in nature
2. Our nation today is on the platform of sand hindi tayo nakapatong sa matibay na bato ng moralidad at katarungan
3. Ang nagyayari sa abroad ay nagmamagnify ng ating problema
4. Gutom, kawalan ng pag asa, kawalan ng trabaho ay internal sa atin higit sa lahat ang corruption atin na atin yan
5. Bukas ang proseso sa liberal party kung sino ang nagnanais kumandidato

1. Kaya ako tumatakbo dahil sa pang enganyo ng mga partners naming sa administration coalition
2. Hindi ako takot maging John Mccain dahil magagaya siya sa nangyari dito na presidential candidate ng unpopular president.
3. Kailangan ipaliwanag ang side ng administration para balance ang opinyon ng tao pagdating ng araw kailangan nilang pumili
4. Hindi maliwanag kung kaninong interes mangingibabaw ang usapin ng Impeachment
5. Instructure ng gobyerno ang dapat ayusin mag check and balance tayo (sa usaping ano dapat baguhin sa saligang batas)
6. Hindi sa lahat ng bagay dapat tanggalin ang ang band on foreign ownership
7. Public decision so far in my term as national defense and in the future
8. Napakahalaga ang solidarity at stability ng pamilya
Napag usapan din ang issue patungkol kay President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo sa kung ipagpapatuloy ba nila ang pag investigate sa iskandalong pinasukan ng pangulo at ano ang magandang nagawa ng pangulo sa bansa. Mas nanaisin kong pakinggan ninyo ang na-record ko mula sa naganap na forums (pagpasensyahan na lang ang rough na audio especially yung diin nakatabi kasi ako sa speaker recording)
Para sa akin maaga pa para magdesisyon kung sino ang dapat mahalal na pangulo dahil umpisa pa lang ang pagkilatis sa kanila. Kaya dapat i-bear in mind natin ang importansya ng pagboto, patuloy pa rin ang registration kaya sinumang hindi pa nakakapagregister ay magregister na at para makaboto sa election at magbantay sa araw ng election hanggang sa may mahalal at sa panunungkulan ng bagong presidente.

Wow – just these, and some are quick to say, those absentees do not measure up to the debate?
They all passed? That must be the height of stupidity altogether.
These are the non-issues.
This is what happens when we try to separate the chaff from the grain – from empty rhetorics.
Wala naman palang matutunan in either one of them. Anong trisikad na sumisimbolo ng bansa? Anong kori-Korina dyan got to do with the presidency (di ko maintindihan)? At ano naman yang lift the ban on foreign ownership (wow grabe talaga)? Anong hanggang ngayon wala pang desisyon kung tatakbong presidente (????)? Anong pinagsasabi niyang fair to business (ako head, bplo ng isang city, talk about fair treatment sa mga businesses?)? Anong walang pera sa pagtakbo at ang pakay daw ay education (eh ano ba ang nagawa na niya 9 na taon congressman, senador ngayon, meron)?

All feedbacks of this Ateneo event only tell us of one thing – a grand exercise in grand futility.
In short, it achieved nothing, failed to enlighten, scared perhaps the cynics that should one of them be elected, realpolitik may be in even greater catastrophe.
Therefore, not one of these 5 with misplaced overdrive, can do a work in social redemption. Wala man lang matino nasabi ang kahit sino sa kanila.
One thing is shared – the right questions have not been asked nor did the 5 even as much as attempt to supplant the misgivings.
But you would have never known the futility until someone actually got the candidates into one place, and got them talking before you can come up with the conclusion.
The event allowed you to size up the candidates.
Without the event, all you had were speculations. After the event you had better conclusions.
And for you to be able to come to that conclusion – someone acted, organized it, found a venue, invited the candidates, gathered an audience – compare that to hitting a keyboard :D – it a doer vs talkers thingie –
someone in a school walked the talked of gathering the candidates and size them up.- of all schools, one school talked… and walked.
