Defense secretary Gilbert Teodoro just gave his closest associates the green light for the launch of his presidential bid. And if the likes of Vice President Noli de Castro and Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) presidential candidate Cheez Escudero considers an endorsement from Mrs. Arroyo as a “kiss of death”, Teodoro said that he’ll just run as president if Mrs. Arroyo anoints him as her candidate.
With Teodoro throwing his hat unto the presidential derby, his entry muddles the political pond even more. First, this would confuse the NPC, since previous to yesterday’s announcement, the NPC is just mulling the possibility of an Escudero-Legarda tandem. Teodoro is on leave as NPC member and he, obviously, is Danding’s closest nephew. Last year, talks circulated around coffee shops of Danding not favoring Teodoro’s bid. With this recent development, many would probably surmise that this is Danding’s call. There is a stronger possibility that Teodoro probably decided on his own, after getting some signals from Mrs. Arroyo that he’s the secret ace of the despised president.
Teodoro might spoil Escudero’s nomination since the defense secretary enjoys the confidence of most of the NPC members. Should Teodoro do run for the nomination, that would seal the deal for a KAMPI-NPC tandem and the possible team up might be Teodoro-Escudero, leaving Legarda holding an empty bag.
If Teodoro however, fails to clinch the NPC nomination, he may probably run under KAMPI.Teodoro might be anointed as standard bearer of KAMPI, with either Revilla Jr. or Vilma Santos as vice presidential candidate. If this happens, Noli de Castro is sure to clinch the Lakas-CMD nomination.

Observers consider as ‘kiss of death’ the candidate that GMA anoints.
If this be Teodoro – NPC member, nephew of Danding, also KAMPI-acceptable, and defense secretary – well, so be it.
His joining the mad race does not muddle the political pond. Rather, it removes it.
But this plan is like building a store outside the boundary of the central market.
I don’t know but most anyone can do what he wants with his life.
I don’t know but if Teodoro, the defense secretary runs for president and other department secretaries follow suit, what does that imply, matter-of-factly?
I think known politicians should not be appointed to the Cabinet – and a law be enacted for this purpose.

I read it like this:
Danding wanted NPC to go into coalition with Kampi but only if Gilbert, his favorite nephew is the standard bearer.
But GMA didn’t want Gilbert, so Danding flirts and teases with Chiz+Loren and of course, no more coalition.
So today, when Pinky Webb (brilliantly!) jumped in and asked Gilbert Teodoro about the Chiz+Loren thang, he gave this spiel about how he would want the Palace basbas and would be willing to accept the standard bearer position if she still wants a coaltion…words mumbling and stumbling to that effect…clumsily tipping his Uncle’s hand, I would think.
But no one believes he is winnable, not even with all of San Miguel’s archangels behind him.
It could be ploy to ease Loren off the ticket and make a Chiz+Teodoro ticket. (Who would want to be President and have another Assumption Conventista at Vice??)

Shows Honesty though poorly delivered; Fernando, Palilio
Sincere and Committed – Gordon
Trying Hard, dirty mouth, accuser – Roxas
Personal Interest (Focus on Housing Issue) – Villar
Dependent to Cabinet Secretary (Dangerous) – De Castro
Don’t respect elders/parents, even just idolizing, that’s why

Excellent analysis. Eventually, the game plan, I think, is for the NPC to drop Loren Legarda. Legarda has her plans but the winnability factor is not there, so sorry.
An Escudero-Teodoro or Teodoro-Escudero tandem is at best, the most viable ticket compared with other tickets. They are young. They are idealistic. And they are winnable.
I’ll bet my bottom Singdollar that they’ll win…in Jolo.

I am just one of thousands of college students who admires Teodoro.. He’s very intelligent and hardworking, yet down-to-Earth and pa-low profile lang.. His credentials are outstanding.. I know he will be a good president.. I liken him to former President Magsaysay.. It’s really honest yet bold of him to declare his desire for presidency..
It’s very premature for people to brand him as “Puppet” of PGMA.. Although they share the same policies and ideology, Teodoro is unlike GMA who’s associated with various controversies..
Unlike Chiz who is MEDIA SAVVY (puro lang daldal ng daldal pero wala namang ginagawa), Teodoro is low-profiled and and works silently without publicity..

yes gilbert teodoro will be a great president. he was my classmate in grade school for several years. he is compassionate and does not have the air of an oligarch and treats a poor kid like me as an equal. i remember eating in their home one time but since i am from a poor family, i fumbled with the handling of the spoon and fork but he did not laugh nor scoff at me but instead taught me the proper usage with utmost understanding. and i recall very clearly his generosity he has shared with me some books that i could never afford to buy such as books about air crafts, naval ships and guns. some people may say or think that but that was a long time ago perhaps he has changed in all these years, i do not know about that BUT i believe that the good children grow up to be good men!!! and so Gilbert I say to you Life is one big challenge. Face it like a man but with the heart of a child. ever simple ever open! win the presidency and save our country! don’t give a hoot about the senseless criticisms thrown against you they will make you a stronger president but listen to your conscience for it will make you a stronger man, a man for others!!!

Secretary Teodoro is the right person to become the next President of the Philippines. With good track record, excellent education, fair stands on issues, he is the right candidate. He has the qualities not only as a leader but also to represent the country in international community. Hindi siya naninira, very gentle person and righteous.

yes he is under the administration but it doesn’t mean that he will follow what gloria’s administretion. He has his own way and strategies to have our progressive country..

Honesty and Integrity? I am not sure. But it has to start from something – which is us participating in the elections to choose the next president.
Most politicians are trapos. Philippine politics = transactional politics + political dynasties. It will take two or even more generations to replace people in governtment, for a clean slate government.
I am not taking it against him (being with the Admin party). He is not GMA. We cannot really say for sure if these presidentiables are or will be honest and good officials, that’s why i look into track records and credentials. I will also based it on how they carry themselves in an interview and how professional they are during the campaign period. It may be scripted or not scripted, but he sure knows what he’s talking about if you dig for the specifics.
Platforms? Most of them have the same POGs, platforms most of us people don’t and can’t really understand.
I am not looking for a saint, or for someone who could erradicate poverty. Let’s not blame the president for the rising members of those living below poverty line. Yes, a president and any official should do something anout it, but people has to cooperate as well.
