Is Ping Lacson The Mastermind Of The Dacer-CorbitoMurders?

mancao-dacer-ping-montage

Senator Panfilo ‘Ping’Lacson’ is in big trouble, bigger than when he was implicated in the Kuratong Baleleng rub-out case.

Perhaps coincidentally Mr. Lacson is being accused of murder just two weeks after his advocacy-cum-political campaign video was posted on the video sharing site YouTube.

The referencing  of the video is by no means an endorsement of Lacson’s latest bid for high office.

But this writer feels we have to see these sequence of events from a wider context, specially as Lacson’s battlecry is ‘patas na laban‘, meaning fair fight.

This is the very same context in which we are sure Lacson hope Filipinos will appreciate the legal battlw he now faces.

The claim of Sabina and Carina David that Lacson “masterminded the 2000 murder of their father, and his driver Emmanuel Corbito” now leaves the former national police chief only 2 choices:

1. Insist that the case be dismissed outright as being based on hearsay;

2. Ask that the case to go to trial to allow him to present evidence in his defense and clear his name.

Former police colonel Cesar Mancao is expected to finally be extradited to Manila this Tuesday.

He just may hold the key, as hinted at in the Valentine;s Day ‘tell-all’ affidavit where he implicated Lacson.

Will Mancao affirm the notarized contents in that affidavit?

NewsBreak magazine’s 2001 investigative report had revealed for the first time the existence of letters Dacer himself wrote detailing his misgivings of what he xalled “black propagand operations” being waged against him then by certin individuals “seeking to drive a wedge between him and then President Joseph Estrada.

These letters, too, could help clear up the tangled elements in the case.

But murder, double murder is a non-bailable capital offense.

So if Lacson pursues his bid to run in next year’s elections, he may have to do so behind bars.

It will be an arduous struggle but a struggle that Lacson must plunge into headlong.

The Dacer and Corbito families must likewise find closure in their long, painful search for justice.

The battle lines are drawn.

Postscript:

Sen. Lacson is now being quoted as blaming Malacanang for “black propaganda” moves against him:

The current story must be looked from political and legal pespectives. If by all accounts taken from Mancao’s affidavit, the senator will be definitely has to defend himself in court. It does not say though that thge affidavit will be enough to convict him.

On the political side, i cant see any benefical effect to the camp of the admnistration except that they can eliminate, that is politically, one of thier adversaries.

But it will not in any strenthen thie hand.

Lacson at the moment will find it hard to win the presidency.
But his two to five million votes will not go to GMA bet if ever he was eliminated politically. They will remain as oppostion votes.

So, who will be the real winner in this drama? GMA no, perhaps Roxas or Erap. Or Villar.

  6. The political waters are getting murkier.

    ———-
Another option (which he is milking to the max) is to let the issue be “hot” so that he gets many chances to be interviewed and his name rises above the clutter of the many presidentiables. [When did Binay's name last get mentioned on TV?]

A fourth choice — buy property in USA, just in case he has to leave.

    Go Pittsurgh!!!!

  9. Bert says:

Ping can do all that inside prison since the case is a non-bailable.

Another one for the Guinnes Book of World Records: A Senator then a President won election while inside prison. Only in the Philippines.

  10. The Ca t says:

A fourth choice — buy property in USA, just in case he has to leave.

    Go Pittsurgh!!!!
    ================

He got already properties in the US. The Filipino grocery in LA is his.

  11. Oh really? Is it doing good business? Would be interesting to get a pic of that place. :)

  12. ricelander says:

Don’t you think the question should be:

Where is Bubby Dacer and Emmanuel Corbito? Who is hiding them?

Start exploring the idea that they are alive– hiding, being hidden or somewhere around with a new face.

  13. Tasio says:

There is no Black Propaganda on this matter. We dont drag a Double
Murder Case to the mudslinging of Politics. Lacson wants some sympathy from the public. That he is being persecuted. This is also a case to silence the Freedom of the Press in the Philippines, by those in power.

These are interesting questions to answer:

    1. Why did those high military officials ran away to the U.S. after the murder ?

    2. Who paid for their flights ? Who gave expenses to resettle them in the U.S. ?

    3. Who ordered them to take flight to the U.S.? Who worked for their
    immigrant visas ?

There are some unseen powerful hands who tried to hide the Truth from
us. Whoever are those hands. Let us punish them. So that no one who is in power will again commit this act. Let us Guillotine them
    in Plaza Miranda.

Is Ping Lacson The Mastermind Of The Dacer-CorbitoMurders?
Your title is misleading! It has made people to think you have a serious answer or a detective story to tell. Yun pala, it remains unanswered! Wasting readers’ time

    • eric chan says:

it is not a time waster when public awareness is of utmost important of the potential danger this senator can do. may he be in good health, so that he can serve his life sentence in jail!. if it is a time waster, why do you bother to write in this column?

  15. Erichan says:

I don’t think you are a serious writer from the way you write and the personal photo you posted. That is my impression, unfortunately for you.

  16. Tasio says:

During the Nazi era in Germany. The SS Brigade committed many crimes
against humanity to occupied people in Europe.

After Germany’s defeat. These war criminals were tried in the Nuremberg Trial in Germany.

Their defense for their crimes was: “We were only following orders.”
The Military Tribunal did not buy their arguments.

    They were all hanged.

Blind Obedience is not an excuse in committing crimes, when you are in authority or power. So, to those who are working with those in power.

If your consciences are against any orders. Do not follow the order.
Once your Master will be out of power. You will be left to fend for yourselves.

  17. opposition says:

I’m an opposition, but i want to know the truth. to you Senator Lacson, the filipino people are not stupid. You always say that truth is in your side, and the you will always fight crime. But why do you want to avoid this murder case be exposed, and want it to be scrapped? If you are so bold in the media exposing alleged corruptions, why don’t you want your own criminal activities be exposed to the public as well? and if you claim that you are really innocent, why don’t you want to prove it to the people. People want to know the truth. this is a democratic country. why didn’t you make any investigation as the head of PAOCTF before? is it because you are involved? you can’t forever fool people! we know your dark secrets. You are the father of liars!

  18. Hi Erichan,

    You don’t understand the post?

You new here at FV? You are certainly most welcome to read, read, and read. You just might learn something.

    Maligayang pagdalaw :)

maybe …maybe not…that’s my answer …but one thing’s for sure…justice will always serve its purpose in the end–may it be here on earth or on the next life. And whoever that mastermind would be…his happy days are almost over. I think it’s time the Dacer and the Corbito family should finally get vindicated after almost 9 years of wait for this case to have closure and justice. Criminals like these should be punished..
