DISTRESS CALL

November 22nd, 2008 at 12:57 pm by RG

First Of all I Thank Manolo Quezon for recognizing my efforts on breaking the charter change story. Secondly, i’d like to thank everyone who left their comments and suggestions, violent objections and tirades in my previous entries. To be plainly honest, I deliberately did what i did in those posts to drive home a point—a point made years ago by the one who said, ” I may not agree with what you say, but I will definitely defend your right to say it.”

Friends, we may never agree on views and analyses of what’s going on in the country. However the Philippines remains a democracy—anyone can think or say whatever they want and it should not be taken against them except in certain cases. Besides, No one has a monopoly on good ideas. In the end, the best way to find out which idea is good—to let them all stand in the free market place of ideas.

But this is not about what are good or bad thoughts. this is about giving everyone a chance, a shot to be heard. again, if you do not like what you see—go take it up with Nick. It was his invitation that landed me in this website. The easier way would actually be just to ignore the things you do not like. For so long as Nick does not flinch—I will continue to blog my thoughts here. Or you can also take it up with ploghost—my main blog’s host because they are taking too long to fix my site.

anyway—here is something which makes the current chacha discussion a little more interesting than usual. The President’s husband has rightly or wrongly been seen as her dirty tricks guy. as talks of charter change swirled—more speculations came up that it was actually he who is in charge of rallying up the congressmen—through his sons—to push for term extensions.

FG Mike Arroyo had experienced stomach cramps and back pains during the flight of the philippine delegation bound for the apec summit. This was the same thing the First Gentleman experienced before he was rushed to st lukes in early 2008 that’s why doctors on board decided to do an emergency landing in Japan so that FG Mike could be given special medical attention. The latest report according to sec puno, who spoke with cong rodolfo antonino who is part of the official entourage of the President, is that FG Mike Arroyo is now stable and ok. The president’s entourage will continue in its flight but FG Mike A will remain in japan for further analysis from his personal doctors who were sent to japan to see his condition. The First Gentleman will fly back to manila as soon as his doctors gives him the clearance to travel.

what people don’t realize though is that the palace does have deniability when they say that the president will step down in 2010—as president. that’s because in a revised charter—she gets an entirely different office.

supporters of the president aren’t even seriously considering who to field as presidential candidate in 2010. of course they have ideas just in case they do have to go through an elections. it’s always safer to have a backup plan.

keep up the good work, rg and never lose heart. in my book, you are one of the most fair and balanced blogger and can maintain it without sacrificing your own points of view. with contributors like you, FV remains a “free marketplace of ideas”, not a choir of all tenors, right nick, ding?
