I am almost a regular listener of DZMM’s morning radio program whenever driving to office. Today is occasioned by the interview of anchors Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja with another presidentiable by the name of Loren Legarda. Incidentally, what lent meaning to the day is the fact that it is World Environment Day and if there is any rabid or frontline advocate of the environment, it should be nobody but Loren whose brainchild is the so-called Luntiang Pilipinas. As she confessed, she is instrumental in the planting of 2 million trees throughout the country.
When asked, Loren spelled out his vision and platform should she become the next president of the Philippines. For one, she is not inclined to relegate herself to a vice presidential post as she wants to be captain of the ship of state herself than just be a ship’s passenger. And this is anchored on the 4 pillars of government that she envisions, to wit:
1. good governance
2. sustainable socio-economic development
3. protection of environment
4. cultural preservation.
The above were, however roughly, discussed. Good governance would extend to an effort to curb out corruption in government. Development would be one built of equitability – that of the poor as well as the rich – will be placed on the scale, so to speak. Environment is certainly geared toward reversing the effects of the climate change. Lastly, cultural preservation is one conceived around developing a Filipino identity. Somehow, these for Loren, would help erect her vision and platform of government. When asked, she believes that the advocacies carved in the name LOREN when she ran for senator (acronym for her focused concerns) will all adopt into her now new vision and platform.
What seems interesting is her having pointed out that 30% of government funds are being siphoned off by corruption per the World Bank report with only about 23% that can really filter down to actual social goods and services. She feels something must be done in this area.
In fact, to be very emphatic about that point, Loren did not fail to point that the state of affairs should focus on the notion of – people first. When the DZMM anchors took shot to mention about Noli as to whether he will be a tough rival in her presidential bid, what Loren, in effect, said is that she is positive that she can overcome the surveys’ topnotcher. Loren claims that compared to Noli who spent billions and yet led by only about 2% over her, she will overcome it especially so now that “shadows will soon come out” on what the cabinet has done over their watch. In short, Loren seems to imply that in the campaign ads alone that help Noli boost his name recall, so much in government funds went into it, such as the Pagibig.
Incidentally, it is in that radio station DZMM that, without let up, Noli’s ads on pabahay through Pagibig is always viciously broadcast. Certainly, the ads have to be paid for by either Noli or Pagibig and by the looks of it, the latter must be the sponsor. Perhaps, Loren has an ax to grind against Noli, if and when, the shadows she was talking about will come out from their dim enclaves – in the immediate future. The presidential cabinet insinuated on “madidilim na multo” – which to viewers would mean, some dark things were going on somewhere may well be pointing to the man mentioned by her.
All told, it would appear quite clearly that Loren did more than pass the interview with good satisfaction ratings had it been that Anthony and Gerry represented the corporate government top honchos and Loren is the job applicant. However, even if her so-called “pillars” were to be her political formula to provide food on the table, job for the individual, and shelter above their heads, a whole work in abstraction has to be done on how exactly she goes about confronting the issues she had eloquently raised.
In other words, it is one thing to be able to articulate a host of bright ideas and being able to provide the ‘blueprint’ on how to go about it. In her virtual ‘sponsorship speech’ on why she runs for president, from where I sit, a host of even deeper questions have yet to find answers. I will not be surprised why the party where she belongs along with Chiz surely might find it hard to choose between two great orators who can eloquently espouse their worldviews on anything political. But that is precisely beside the point. RP needs a doer, one who can build this nation like a city.
Will you ask who I had in mind? BF for RP!

WHAT IS DRUMMING UP IN YOUR HEAD, kalabog.
Try to check your own misgivings with that I quoted above. Show me, if you can, if anything has been ‘misappropriated’. If you don’t see one, next time, think before you speak. Call that lesson no. 1, okay?
Your candidate,Bayani Fernando hardly can express his answers.
This is the reason he hired you to write articles about him.
I watched the ANC Debate this evening.
He barely can explain his Kelptomaniac tendencies on public funds.
He is now worth millions of pesos.
Do you think I believe, you do the writing services for a

Assuming that indeed, by your own barometer, he falls short of your ‘thermal’ requirements, what now?
That does not delete the fact that he has done a good lot of things as MMDA chairman precisely because of his technical, technological, or engineering savvy. Just look around you and you will know – these works serve as BF’s ‘sponsorship speech’ we always wish and pray that – more people can read into his mind.
It is openly accepted that he is not a talker so try not to look for the oratorical flamboyance of a Chiz or Loren. HE IS A DOER and he means business.
Six years will do us more good than harm if elected president. Grabe, wala kayong kasawa sawa sa sobrang gagaling magsalita, akala mo sobrang ang gagaling din sa gobyerno.
I think it is high time we choose wisely from our limited options. In the end, it might end up this way – like people, like government. When that happens, blame bongV for that.
Two talked sense to be fair. Mayor Binay of Makati and Sen. Legarda.
The first batch were better. This is my own opinion. I dont want to
influence others.
However, I want more details for all the Seven I am looking to.
THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETYILS.
THE DEVIL IS ALL IN THE DETAILS…
totoo,
Ang sinasabi mong manok ko, in any event, sinabi niya ito –
“Hindi ko palalampasin ang kamalian para lamang maging popular”.
At the end of the day, something has been accomplished because something has been implemented because of a political will.
Iyon ang kulang sa lahat, so that becomes BF’s mantra.
If you agree or not, that is your life. But at least, if you raise any valid argument against the points we are trying to raise here and communicate, then we can proceed along.
Madali tumira kaso it begins and ends there so wala rin. Poor soul!
It will not kill anyone if you say you are for Loren, by all means, vent your view that we voters – all of 40 million of us – can vote wisely.
But so far as I am concerned, I don’t attach premium to those with glib. I want to see more urban centers – a fabulous Davao, Cebu, et cetera. I want to see more elevated u-turns which by the way is equivalent to an interchange as it is in fact an interchange.
We want to see more pink urinals in my town in Cagayan Valley, more footbridges there, more sidewalks, more pink fences. In the whole, we want a beautiful country so we can begin to say we are proud of this country.
Absent these works by the industrial designer, ano ba ang pwedeng ipagmalaki natin? Puro dada, puro salita, puro rhetorics? Come on, go for the pink utopia!
Primer:
Industrial engineer is johnny come-lately to Cebu and Davao – so puhleezeeee.
Davao or Cebu does not need to do a Marikina – that’s like a DEMOTION :D
Governing Metro Manila and Marikina is not like governing the whole
Philippines. The country has serious problems: economic, OFWs,
insurgencies of all kinds, political polarizations, lack of jobs,
etc…
Any President that I choose must have wide knowledge, strong leadership, integrity, accomplishments, etc…
International Knowledge is also one of my requirement.
I am not trying to influence others for their criterias. My choice
is my own.
voters for sale… candidates for sale… justices for sale…
immorality for sale… padre damasos for sale… mistahs/uniformed thugs for sale…
ate glo&magnanakaws/trapos/ladrones garapales are sold out to the highest bidder…
flipland economy goes to a high gear in election year…
in flipland, EVERYTHING is for sale.
On the other hand, the contemporary trend is that modernizing governments are now being run by professional engineers.
If you don’t want the wheels of technology to change our lives, then by all means embrace ‘political antiquity’ which is responsible for our stagnation.
All the problems which you seem to see are man-made. Our leaders created all these for us taxpayers – and then we suffer a lot, over a long period of time.
It is hoped that with BF, all these will change. Will you please do a study on the Metro Gwapotel, a 4-storey lodging house where one pays only P25 a day with room and bath? It has more than 100% occupancy rate and it caters to the poor – workers at the pier, laborers everywhere within a 100 meter radius, office folks and all.
Please, let us do the math than satisfy our ears with empty rhetorics. Have you ever in your whole life went to Congress, sat at the Gallery and listen to the Plenary proceedings?
If not, magtinda ka na lang sa bangketa.
which governments?
the engineer designs the building -but the returns are done by the accountant and the finance manager – i’ll hire the accountant, i’ll hire an engineer, but they don’t have to be CEO.
If one can govern the whole of Metro Manila in terms of the engineering or technical side of the equation, then with more hope, this same competence can be done on a nation-wide scale.
It cannot be doubted. The evidence stand on the ground.
Peter Principle
The Peter Principle is the principle that “In a Hierarchy Every Employee Tends to Rise to His Level of Incompetence.” While formulated by Dr. Laurence J. Peter and Raymond Hull in their 1968 book The Peter Principle, a humorous treatise which also introduced the “salutary science of Hierarchiology”, “inadvertently founded” by Peter, the principle has real validity.
It holds that in a hierarchy, members are promoted so long as they work competently.
Sooner or later they are promoted to a position at which they are no longer competent (their “level of incompetence”), and there they remain, being unable to earn further promotions.
Peter’s Corollary states that “in time, every post tends to be occupied by an employee who is incompetent to carry out his duties” and adds that “work is accomplished by those employees who have not yet reached their level of incompetence”.
So when do I call you Peter, instead?
Loren Legarda is a certified fried and true PEKENG-PERYODISTAS!!!!
She’s the one who did not criticize Ces Drilon Kidnapping News Blackout. IT WAS A BLATANT SHOWING OF LOW-IQ! She also signed of on the news blackout.
I cannot believe she’s tha low-IQ. She doesn’t deserve an air-time nor PRIMER’S posts
Those four issues are generic that don’t deserve Primer’s
ate ping lacson dropped out of the flipprez race.
he’s not even a player in the first place. nanggugulo lang kasi, he’s a “persona non grata” sa ‘merka.
a flipprez credential could have given him a diplomatic pasaporte/visa to the land of meeks and homeys… aka flipflams.
Primer,
sorry to say , i don’t like BF personally. His management style was expected to be his duty. It was not extraordinary. Although his vision may be appropriate for his city but for the whole country, i don’t think he can manage the financial aspect of running the country, manage the lazy and making everyone participatory.
In fairness, none of the candidates talk about teamwork, processes and implementation. Their individual’s Visions are not the country’s Mission. Mission and Vision compliment one another. They must go hand in hand. It cannot be separated because both are the foundation of culture in the context of Management and Administration.
If we cannot find one yet, let’s do some ocho ocho.. ok :)
primer,
one more thing. I do appreciate your honesty and full disclosure to support BF. And I don’t care if you are paid to do it. It’s none of my biz or anybody’s business. Full disclosure here at FV must be practiced.
As I must thank righteous (assuming however that what he just said is a compliment), so do must I thank leytenian.
You know what, I was once a low-profile head of a city’s business permits and licensing office and aside from QC, I copy from the best practices, best procedures, best approaches using Marikina City as a ‘financial model’.
Primer:
How do you compare Marikina practices to to San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, New York, Washington DC, Atlanta, Tokyo, London, HK, Singapore – does Marikina really have the best practices compared to REAL world-class cities -
you know – business permit licensing and registration in minutes – not DAYS or WEEKS or months – eto na lang conswelo de bobo – kahit hours…
Sometimes, people write out of a sense of moral duty – getting people to know because they should know some things, sometime, some place.
When I was channel surfing I listened to a part of your man’s interview by your friend Cheche.
It was about being above the law(I think it was because of 2 supreme court rulings.
His answer was that, if he violated the law he should be in jail, then when asked if he again if he was above the law, he anwserd: Yes Above the law (pause for a few seconds) I abide by the law.
Di ko na napakinggan yung ibang kandidato nanood kasi ako ng tennis.
About your BF posts, I too don’t care if you are paid or not, remember I butted in when you and Pat were exchanging “PR guy ka” when you were just starting in FV.(as a frequent letter to the editor writer)
I said something about commenting as karlpopper and blogging as Primer might be the reason for the misunderstanding.
So now you comment as Primer, but there are still paid hack accusations.
At least from the start, sinabi mo na na BF ka, but you are over doing it, the spacing of your blogs about the topic is an evidence.
You say you repeat for the sake of emphasis. There as such a thing as repeating for the fear of not being understood.AS far as I amconcerned you have made your point. Try having a cool off period with your BF.
In marketing that’s a HARD SELL.
Kung telemarketer yan – COLD CALL.
Kaya binabagsakan ng pintuan or telepono
I can take heed Karl.
While I took a masteral subject in advertising from Prof. Jazmines, I really don’t know what PR work is, much less, having been into it – even just once in my life.
For me to be accused as BF’s PR guy is grossly unfair for I AM NOT.
I thought having blogged on that Loren’s interview provided a little of that ‘topical spacing’. At least, it was one of best efforts. So thanks Karl.
Just one mention of BF did that for you, amigo.( I could be wrong, siguro kahit di mo banggitin si BF, same results)
Ok, thanks as well Primer! (kinumpleto ko ang Primer ha)
Primer:
There is such a thing as appropriateness and delicadeza.
It is okay to talk about BF and compare his positions and experiences with other candidates – and from there proceed why his position and experience makes him the best candidate.
When you start out as a BF groupie, the partisanship comes across as a starstruck ignoramus who is easily fascinated by the color pink – a color that’s so horribly TACKY – a city that’s painted pink all it’s like one big mental hospital – or prison cell. You can only use the use the color so much, after which it becomes so BADUY, and the hard-sell branding is so evident it makes me throw up.
Is this blogging? Is this free speech?
Two points then bong, I can oblige.
First, you are right 100% that BF amounts to a “hardsell” of “cold call”.
But I don’t think naman na dapat pagbagsakan ng telepono o pintuian si BF dahil una sa lahat, pro-poor lahat ng programa so far.
Second, don’t think that BF does not know of the studies on anything colored pink to have some tranquilizing effect. Alam niya un pero kasi, it is rooted out to symbolize literally the idiomatic expression – “in the pink of health”.
Besides, di ba two-toned na ngayon – blue and pink? Para ka naman ung mga senador o congressman na ginisa si BF for more than one hour trying to know why urinals are colored pink, et cetera. So you see, if we have people like you, we sure are wasting time than accomplishing more.
Primer:
Jehovah’s Witness, Mormons are pro-poor and pro-God – and the cold calling hard-sell tactics are irritating and obnoxious.
The tranquilizing effect is just for starters, over time, extended exposure to pink increases aggression.
Adding color to the urinal – increases the cost of the urinal.
By putting pink, have people changed the way they pee? The pink urinal is a branding statement – it does not have anything to do with the act of peeing.
Yeah, include pink as a color – then it becomes an original – dude that’s not even an innovation – that’s branding statement swallowed by s*ckers.
seeing Pink all over, next thing you know you’ll be doing murals of Dear Leader Kim Jong Il
with an Imeldific spouse to boot
Suit yourself bong, you can even pee outside of the pink urinal,if you want.
I’d rather have a president who cannot talk well but can make drastic improvements with the country and its people than to have a someone who talks smoothly but cannot deliver any results.
here’s an interesting read about Bayani Fernando’s corruption issue:
http://www.sunstar.com.ph/manila/mmda-chief-cleared-filmfest-fund-misuse
It’s funny how news on Jinggoy accusing Bayani of mismanaging the funds of MMFF hits the headlines and everyone calls BF corrupt without him ever being proven guilty BUT when the issue is resolved in favor of BF (where even MMFF execs defend Bayani) nobody seems to notice and there is very little media coverage on this.
is it true that there are character assassins being hired by mar roxas? apparently they do not blog as much for mar so as not to be noticed as mar roxas supporters but they are assigned to attack blogs for other candidates. i hope this is not true.
