Edward Go, Sulpicio Lines Owner, indicted by DOJ

Edward Go, vice president of Sulpicio Lines, is in deep trouble. The Department of Justice just indicted him for the crime of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide. Remember MV Princess of the Stars which sank a year ago off the island of Romblon? The DOJ panel found Go culpable of the crime after studying the numerous inquiries and testimonies of those who survived and those involved in the operation of Sulpicio Lines.

Surprisingly, Sulpicio Lines owner Enrique Go and CEO Carlos Go were not indicted. In other countries, it is customary to include the top management in any criminal or civil case filed against the company involved.

Also indicted was the ship’s captain, Florencio Marimon, who is believed to have died already.

Go, meanwhile, remains unavailable for comment. Some say he’s nowhere to be found. Will justice be elusive still? Go should be put in jail but no one knows where he’s now.

Finally some sort of justice, but it could be, and I am very skeptical, just a way to soothe public outcry, since it is the 1 year anniversary of the Sulpicio Lines Tragedy of last year..

Indeed, I am pushing for more accountability, and not merely passing the buck down to just the captain.. and this possible sham of an indictment..

Until the sentence has been declared, I will remain doubtful that justice will have truly been served. I will write an update about this myself, as I had the most tragic time last year waking up to a call and learning that my dearest cousin had been one of the passengers of the capsized ship, and then to later find out that his dead body had been found miles away on the shores of another island..

Oh, sorry to hear that Nick.

thanks Primer, I wrote extensively about this here at Filipino Voices as well as my own personal blog… it was a hard time for me… which is why I’ve been trying to keep up to date with this. Sad to say, my cousin’s family took the money that Sulpicio gave them last year, signed that stupid waiver.

      Take note:

      1. Waiver had signatory and family waive future lawsuits
      2. the money that Sulpicio paid them, was paid by their insurance company (no out of pocket by Sulpicio)

There’s a few other things worth noting, I’ll expand in a later article.
