Am a rather avid listener of Dos por Dos anchored by the two comic anchors, Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja. It turns out that morning radio news program has for its guest, Sen. Chiz Escudero who is supposed to have been invited as one of those presidentiables scheduled to enjoy air time with DZMM. For instance, BF and Binay have already used their time slots.

It appears that Chiz chose not to admit that he is a presidentiable. It was difficult for me to situate how that admission straight from the horse’s mouth is supposed to read. Is Chiz a presidentiable when he says as he in fact admits that he is not – a very categorical answer to a very categorical question? Can we marked that time when he said he is not a presidentiable as basis later on if he then becomes presidentiable? Point is, he seems not even inclined to hint nor to admit he decides to run for the president.

That sharply reminded me of the Ateneo event where he was in attendance. Against that fact, what then is Chiz saying in the time slot scheduled for the purpose of interviewing presidentiables in order to get to know their individual ‘Program of Work’, matter-of-factly? This effectively confines as it limits what type of questions should have been asked by the eloquent broadcasters. In short, the listening public has not been better enlightened in case indeed in the future, they will have to choose from the field where the name Chiz Escudero is included.

Thus, the questions asked were those that would have been similarly asked to any other member of Senate like those that concerns the recent video sex scandal. To this, Chiz did say he will not attend the Senate hearing set for the purpose since he believes there are other Senate hearings of higher importance. So it means, no Chiz participates in hearings of lesser social relevance based on his own subjective disposition.

Further, anchors tried to lead the discussion toward that latest development in the Senate where two old veterans – Enrile and Pimentel – are engaged in an animated feud. Chiz thinks that this is a demonstration of how democracy works in this country that the two did not have to go into a physical brawl such as those that happened in other similar settings. He pointed out, however grossly mistakenly, of only one incident where there was one, making reference to that scene where a congressman slapped the face of the then Sergeant-at-Arms of the House. But the analogy is rather ambiguous in that the example is a superior-subordinate thing and not between co-equals.

In any case, that made that morning not a better time to draw more enlightenment from the man who, if we go by public perception, is a presidentiable but then again, the man himself says, he is not a presidentiable. So nothing can proceed, is there? He did accurately refer to the feuding personalities as two giant elephants and in relation to them, he is just a little ant. Rightly or wrongly, Chiz thinks that Enrile enjoys the general admiration of his colleagues from both sides of the political spectrum, which means, both the minority and the majority.

From where I stand, maybe, the reason Chiz may not be obliged to declare he is gunning for the presidency at this point in time is so as not to be criticized so yet since he is not even yet 40 to meet the minimum qualification requirements for the presidency. In other words, it will be premature for him to go out and declare he is a presidentiable. Perhaps, not until he is 40. Maybe one from the collective will raise the flag to fill our vast intellectual void.

Come 2010 or few months before that, the man I did not hear make admission of his desire to become president will have to speak loud and clear that he in fact needs our patronizing votes. But so far as this little tick in time is concerned, the opportunity seems to have been wasted. Like others, we would have wanted to know Chiz thoughts on governance, if any. However, anchors failed to extract oil from this political ocean floor laid by Chiz, so be it.

    Prime,

    dumoble yata ang posting mo.

    ignore if corrected

  2. Oo nga Karl, sorry but thank you so much for noticing it.

    I don’t intend to pass off as Renato, he he. Even my friend bong almost also caught the bug, he he. Good day, KG!

  3. When asked what would be the effect of Danding Cojuangco’s support (financial and otherwise) on his or Loren’s candidacy he said: Wala namang epekto yan kasi iisa lang din naman ang boto ni Danding gaya mo, gaya ko, gaya natin lahat. Or words to that effect…

    Nagpapatawa ba itong si Chiz, o naggagago?

  4. tasio says:

    Chiz Escudero is too young. He needs more experience and exposure
    for the serious job of a President.

    Enrile is a Political Opportunist. Pimentel is promoting a guy who
    is a Profiteer Opportunist. Pimentel and Enrile almost got on each
    other’s throats. They would do the nation a good service, if they would have choke each other to death. We dont need clowns, freaks, etc…to run the country like a Common Circus.

    How about the results of the previous Senate investigations?

    1. Garci Tapes -

    Result – Garciliano is pondering to become a politician.

    2. ZTE Broadband -

    All the major characters in the play seemed to have vanished
    in thin air.

    3. Fertilizer Scam -

    Bolante is preparing to become another politician.

    4. World Bank Fraud Allegation -

    Major characters are nowhere in sight.

    These Politician are giving us scripted plays. The Assistant of Enrile, who is Estrada is an Actor. The rest of the Senators in the
    Senate are trying to become Actors also. We are the Suckers watching
    the play year in and year out.

    They prioritize their investigations, to eliminate their fellow
    aspirants in the Presidential race. I think there are some unseen
    power hands manipulating these Idiots.

    The Sandigan Bayan continues to sit on the cases. Everybody is busy
    looking for the next election. The people that committed
    the frauds are still there. Nobody is removed or gone to jail for
    these thievery. It is really a vicious political cycle played at
    our expense.

    Hey Fellow Suckers, can we not see that the Senate play is not for real?

    • BongV BongV says:

      let’s vote for them again, so we can prove BIG BAD GOVERNMENT is at fault :D

      • tasio says:

        The next time you vote for them. The country will already be bankrupt…

      • UP n grad says:

        Multiple choice. Which is better :
        —”I just vote how my minister tells me to vote” ;
        — “I vote for the one who brought us a basketball court.”;
        —”I vote how my barkada says I should vote”;
        — “I vote how deQuiros says I should vote”;
        — “I got money for my vote. Now don’t you tell me how I should vote.”;
        — “I vote how my parents say I should vote”;
        — “My husband says vote for Erap, so I voted for Erap.”;
        — “I didn’t vote, I was working.”;
        — “I did not vote. The best choice was still shitty.”

      • UP n grad says:

        There also is:

        I don’t care about impeach-impeach. I re-elect the congressman who gets better roads (or a new bus waiting shed) for my town.

      • Bert says:

        UP n, you’re too negative. Why not:

        -I vote for who I think is best for my people and country.

  5. Primer C. Pagunuran Primer says:

    Tasio,
    All that you just enumerated are etched in public memory and no one forgets what they all did in this country.

    All these, no exception, could have been proved to be true beyond reasonable doubt if the whole processes were allowed to begin and end.

    The World Bank road projects alone and the glaring cartel from the top big bosses from the bureaucracy alone could have been properly documented if it were not summarily dismissed by senators playing gods and goddesses.

    And bong, this must be the golden age of a BIG BAD GOVERNMENT.

  7. Primer C. Pagunuran Primer says:

    Maybe indeed there is altruism in John Stuart’s theory of utilitarianism.

    Otherwise translated, people vote like vendo machines – money or ‘inducement’ in exchange of vote or ‘power’. In short, an oblique notion of equality of men is at work here.

    Does it mean that if people have voted for our leaders and our leaders did corrupt, as they will in all likelihood do, does this reduce them to be the cause and the corruption the effect in some causal relationship?

    Thus bong keeps saying ‘like people, like government’. There must be something in our educational culture responsibility for corruption, responsible for poverty, responsibility for dysfunctionality that benigno never stops embracing like a contagious viral worldview.

    Still, between BIG BAD GOVERNMENT and BIG BAD PEOPLE, the former has the mantle of culpability.

    • benign0 is the mirror of Filipinos that they don’t want to face.

      Filipinos would rather break the mirror than watch their reflection in it.

      benign0 is the mirror. Filipinos are before the mirror. To fix the problem is to break the mirror.

      HOW WEIRD!!!!! So, it’s a never ending quest….

    • BongV BongV says:

      Primer:

      here’s a nice word from our open source reference,

      Pest synergy

      Pest synergy would occur in a biological host organism population where, for example, the introduction of parasite A (corrupt politician) may cause 10% fatalities, and parasite B (corrupt voter) may also cause 10% loss.

      When both parasites are present (corrupt politician+corrupt voter), the losses would normally be expected to total less than 20%, yet in some cases, losses are significantly greater.

      In such cases it is said that the parasites in combination have a synergistic effect. :)

    • BongV BongV says:

      Does it mean that if people have voted for our leaders and our leaders did corrupt, as they will in all likelihood do, does this reduce them to be the cause and the corruption the effect in some causal relationship?

      Primer:

      Let’s look at real-world events – specifically Erap:

      Did you vote for Erap?

      If NO, why not?

      If NO, were the very reasons that you didn’t choose Erap validated when Erap took over the presidency?

      Now, even if you liked Erap. The objective facts of the case, showed that people were privy to Erap’s worrisome activities, and despite of that, they voted for him anyway – given the availability of other candidates.

      Sure, it’s their choice, and we respect that – all rightey, what was the effect of that choice? talagang para sa mahirap, lalong lumaganap ang paghihirap.

      Given that real-life voters chose an incompetent leader, who in turn churned out flawed implementation of programs – there is no causal relationship between the choice and the flawed execution of governance? I find that hard to believe.

      • Bert says:

        “…lalong lumaganap ang paghihirap.”-BongV

        why erap? it’s Gloria’s show! aren’t you barking at the wrong tree?

    • BongV BongV says:

      people vote like vendo machines – money or ‘inducement’ in exchange of vote or ‘power’. In short, an oblique notion of equality of men is at work here.

      well, if they act like vendo machines – the politician will treat them like vendo machines, not people. and we wonder why? :)

      • tasio says:

        Senators became Vendo Machines…Gloria Arroyo put some money. They vote for what Gloria Arroyo wants…

  8. Primer C. Pagunuran Primer says:

    Parasite A and Parasite B, sadly, happens to know one another. It then depends on both to exact their casualties. But the term synergy would be an understatement even.

    You bong intuited that I voted for Erap? Maybe, indeed, except that it was then that my name was those disinfranchised.

    However people are treated by politicians, the treatment is mutual – people think these dudes are dirty, dimwit, and disposable – and all other possible ds, your heart desires.

    money in them. They vote for those who put money on them. We are
    in the Age of Vendo Politics…Golden Age?

  13. Primer C. Pagunuran Primer says:

    Erap has been, for all intent and purpose, vindicated.

    To run for president again, as an act of further vindication, is already seen as a punishment.

    Something somewhere has already been strained so there would be little need for him to go back to the Palace and rule – the second try around.

    I supported the man and I think I wasted a whole lot of time defending the weak.

  14. Kc says:

      When you’re in, please tell Primer Guwapo Bert’s interested for the position of Assistant Juniour Guwapo. Tell Primer Guwapo we’re buddies in FV. Primer Guwapo knows I have my own manok, but you two are doing very well here, so…

  17. Primer C. Pagunuran Primer says:

    Bong,
    Is it not the case that they jailed Erap for a crime they have not proved?

    Is it not the case that they booted Erap out for a ‘legal fiction’ they conveniently call constructive resignation (whatever that meant)?

    I don’t know bong, but even if you demean me for having voted for Erap, it neither add nor subtract.

    • BongV BongV says:

      Primer:

      As far as I am concerned, if there was any vindication – it was the fact that Erap’s arse was booted out with good reason :lol:
