Getting A Double Slap For Christmas

The attempt of the government of the day to ring in the Christmas holidays with tht supposed resumption of the peace talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front three days before Christmas has just suffered a setback.

This with the MILF shooting down the yarn on its own website.

Completing a double slap, there’s news quoting the Malaysian vice foreign minister as saying that the Philippine claim to Sabah “is a dead issue.”

Intense back channeling efforts are now underway to find face-saving explanations, with newly designated chief negotiator, foreign affairs undersecretary Rafael Seguis wiping off the egg on his face.

The Malaysian rebuff is particularly curious since Kuala Lumpur had been hand-holding the MILF in the highly secretive talks leading to the MoA-AD debacle.

Without making any reference to Malaysia, Malacanang has been saying that Qatar, where Mrs. Arroyo has just been to, is playing a new mediating role also in thec Mindanao to try to restart the peace process.

The government better not be making new missteps in its hurried attempts to create ‘good news’.

rebuffed by milf and malaysia? big deal. what the heck do you expect? why would it be a “double slap for christmas? milf doesn’t want peace, so be it. malaysia thinks the philippine claim to sabah has no merit (as it has always maintained). what else is new?

Why do we have to pin our hope to what other countries say about us, specially those with ulterior motive of their own?

Who cares what malaysia say about us? This country has been fueling discord in Mindanao to undermine the Philippine Republic and wishes that a Mindanao Republic with league of bandits loyal to Malaysia would promote her own interest in the region at the expense of RP.

    No one should trust Malaysia.

Sabah is part of the Philippines!
I hope the next president will make this a priority.
