President elect Noynoy Aquino offered vice president elect Binay four posts in his administration. Binay declined all four saying, he wanted to be a working, active vice president.
“In our own research, it’s surprising that the vice-president is really considered as a spare tire. The vice president must be a working, active vice president,” he said.
“Talagang gusto ko patunayan, among other things, na hindi spare tire ang opisina ng pangalawang pangulo. Marami akong tratrabahuhin,” he said in Pilipino.
Binay can’t accept the fact that a vice president has nothing to do except wait for a vacancy at the top.
Vice president Binay is a spare tire, black sidewalls at that.

MB,
If the president offers me a job at the local barrio, damn…, I’ll take it. Let me take that back, maybe not.
Somehere in Makati, at a high-rise with surrounding view. I just might.
Well, maybe.
“President elect Noynoy Aquino offered vice president elect Binay four posts in his administration. Binay declined all four saying, he wanted to be a working, active vice president.”
Egos play big time in this game. It’s just day one for godsakes. I’m wondering what the 6 year term would look like for this guy.
Apparently Binay was asked by reporters “if ever you were offered a cabinet position, which would you prefer?” to which he shot back, without articulating, “DILG”.
Headline screams the next day, “Binay Wants DILG Post”.
He’s been portrayed as somebody who is salivating for a cabinet post. The refusal (or tampo) to accept any job offer from Noynoy is an attempt to correct that false impression.
Some media men can be so freaking inaccurate, creating controversies where there is none.
tranquil,
the correct response would have been “I’m not prepared to answer a hypothetical question,” or “I would rather leave that decision to the president. It is his prerogative and it’s for me to impose my wishes on him.”
The fact that he said DILG means he wanted it and thus he tied the president-elect’s hands.
MB,
Yes, the man has some articulation problem. He’s Da King and action man in Makati and is not used to the subtleties of national media spotlight. I’m sure he will be able to work it out with Noynoy. This is unnecessary and trivial friction created out of context by the media hungry for controversy.
And people who were out to stick it to Mar.
It’s still ego because because his refusal gives people the feeling that by winning the VP he enjoys some entitlement, like he can appoint himself to any position which obviously he does not.
Michael Hastings made a hard dig for a profile report on Stanley McChrystal and the former’s head was on the chopping block the next day.
Maybe our PCIJ reporters are at par with this kind of reporting. A profile report on Binay would be interesting.
sorry, “latter’s head was”…
Hail to the Chief! And I say Mabuhay President Benigno Simeon Aquino III!!!
Some anchors, broadcasters, and pundits are asking why P-Noy had nary a mention of VP-Nay in the inauguration speech, except in the intro/salutation.
Hmmmm, it’s an eagle-eye observation, but naughty. Who is the President’s speech writer?
somebody from PEx is saying that it was MQ3. with plagiarized sections from previous Cory speeches. well, that was according to that member.
