It’s easy to prognosticate…

We will have another President Aquino. Isn’t it plain to see? The padyak has got a flat tire and the driver knows it. Erap’s knees won’t hold that long if he pedals back to the Palace. Villar’s katropa has become a trapo full of holes and we can forget the following: Bayani and Jojobama who should just go back to their old jobs and be content with it and work the mines of Moriah. As for Loren, it may be better if she saves one of the sinking coral atolls in the ocean  and that will make her an environmental hero, a sort of Eowyn. What a splendid way to save the planet for she is no man!  Gibo should just be contented with crushing our Republic’s enemies. And Chiz…….the Fates haven’t anointed you but my dearest co UP High alum…  we are still young! Among Ed Panlilio should go back to being a wizard-priest some sort of Kapampangan Gandalf and continue to exorcise the Grima Wormtongues of his province. Brother Eddie… You should go back to church. Even the evangelicals won’t clap their hands,  say Amen and Praise the Lord this time.

As for our Glorious Queen.. she can start rehearsing the script for the June 30, 2010 turnover! The electorate expects a flawless performance from her.

So the presidentiables should put on their Carmina Burana on their iPods and sing

“O Fortuna
velut luna
statu variabilis,
semper crescis
aut decrescis;
vita detestabilis
nunc obdurat
et tunc curat
ludo mentis aciem,
egestatem,
potestatem
dissolvit ut glaciem.”

It is really amazing. One funeral on a blustery and rainy August day can sink several presidential dreams and ambitions. Since we Pinoys are indeed Latins in Asia, we can attribute all these to the Fates.  What is Fortuna up to? The anointed is reluctant.

“Put aside the Senator you are and become who you were born to be!” Oooops that’s Elrond speaking!

Then the anointed can say

“I am Noynoy, Son of Ninoy… I am Cory’s heir… Fight for me and I would hold your Laban signs fulfilled” Unfortunately, Noynoy is balding and is no  long haired Aragorn! But he can try.

If it is for the unity of Filipinos. We cannot prevent it. Being
a President is different from being a good President. We have a
lot of problems; issues and things that are wrong needed to be
    straighten out. We have a stagnant economy; a bankrupt country;
    massive unemployment; rice importer of Asia, with IRRI in its backyard; Useless Ombudsman Court; desensitized Ombudsman Judges;
widespread corruption, etc…all the ills. You name it. We have it.

It will be the final test of our collective schizophrenia, if I may say. This is something for Ripley’s Believe it or Not.

But let come what will since the “masa” always deliver us into a new cycle of labyrinthine political hell. All 18-year olds, undereducated, unhoused, unemployed, unlearned, unabiding citizens of this country vote for and in behalf of our powerless intelligentsia.

    What else is new?

One real big test is in the area of our [in]ability to handle frustrations and disappointments. After the dust of the political exercise have settled down, are we willing to dust ourselves off and rise up to collectively help face the challenges ahead?

Which means intervention needs to be focused to this segment of the population. Boils down to, education. Thomas Jefferson developed an elaborate plan for making education available to every citizen, and for providing a complete education through university for talented youths who were unable to afford it.

“I have indeed two great measures at heart, without which no republic can maintain itself in strength:

      1. That of general education, to enable every man to judge for himself what will secure or endanger his freedom.

      2. To divide every county into hundreds, of such size that all the children of each will be within reach of a central school in it.”

–Thomas Jefferson to John Tyler, 1810. ME 12:393

“Of all the views of this law [for public education], none is more important, none more legitimate, than that of rendering the people the safe as they are the ultimate guardians of their own liberty.” –Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia Q.XIV, 1782. ME 2:206

A Bill for Educating the Masses

“The object [of my education bill was] to bring into action that mass of talents which lies buried in poverty in every country for want of the means of development, and thus give activity to a mass of mind which in proportion to our population shall be the double or treble of what it is in most countries.” –Thomas Jefferson to M. Correa de Serra, 1817. ME 15:156

“The general objects [of a bill to diffuse knowledge more generally through the mass of the people] are to provide an education adapted to the years, to the capacity, and the condition of every one, and directed to their freedom and happiness.” –Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia Q.XIV, 1782. ME 2:204

“A bill for the more general diffusion of learning… proposed to divide every county into wards of five or six miles square;… to establish in each ward a free school for reading, writing and common arithmetic; to provide for the annual selection of the best subjects from these schools, who might receive at the public expense a higher degree of education at a district school; and from these district schools to select a certain number of the most promising subjects, to be completed at an University where all the useful sciences should be taught. Worth and genius would thus have been sought out from every condition of life, and completely prepared by education for defeating the competition of wealth and birth for public trusts.” –Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, 1813. ME 13:399

“This [bill] on education would [raise] the mass of the people to the high ground of moral respectability necessary to their own safety and to orderly government, and would [complete] the great object of qualifying them to secure the veritable aristoi for the trusts of government, to the exclusion of the pseudalists… I have great hope that some patriotic spirit will… call it up and make it the keystone of the arch of our government.” –Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, 1813. ME 13:400

“The less wealthy people,… by the bill for a general education, would be qualified to understand their rights, to maintain them, and to exercise with intelligence their parts in self-government; and all this would be effected without the violation of a single natural right of any one individual citizen.” –Thomas Jefferson: Autobiography, 1821. ME 1:73

Consider this – The US spends $15,600 per student per year. France – $5,600. Philippines – $ 138, roughly 0.88% of the US spend, or 2% of the French spend on education.

Imelda Marcos agony is to that point she can’t stop herself from saying that BongBong has what it takes to be next Pinas President, including tripling average income for Ilocos Norte during his 12 years as governor.

  5. Primer C. Pagunuran Primer says:

Clear as crystal, there is not even a single good choice to select from the current pack of presidentiables.

They are all trapos. This country is doomed!

  6. Bert says:

Not so fast, blackshama. Let’s see what SWS and Pulse Asia will see in there crystal balls.

Though I am not against a Noynoy presidency.

  7. ReneV says:

Dear All, let us help Noynoy and Mar. They can’t do anything without us. Let us walk the talk… I call on ERAP, Chiz, Loren, Binay, Velrade, and Villanueva…give your support to this walk…don’t be blinded by your passion for self-interests….

    • Non-malignant says:

Self-interest is not necessarily selfishness and it is one of the things that make people unique individuals. Sometimes self-interests can find commonality in a shared common cause and can converge into a unified goal.

While Senator Mar Roxas was able to sacrifice his “personal interest[s]” to possibly improve the chance of a shared common cause to succeed (and that is something very remarkable, considering the amount of effort and resources he already spent), it may not be as easy for the others to do so.

Joseph Estrada said in a telephone interview that he is willing to follow the move of Senator Mar Roxas if in the next months Senator Noynoy Aquino will have a good showing in the surveys.

Mayor Jejomar Binay is hinting that he may also be doing what Senator Roxas has done.

Bro. Eddie Villanueva as of this time, has not yet expressed any indication that he will be giving up his presidential candidacy to join and support the same shared common goal.

As of this time, Senator Manny Villar still believes that he is more capable (than all of the rest) of carrying out the cause.

The rest of the political groups are already converging to support the same shared common goal. Even some of the opposition to the opposition are sending signals of support.

  8. Joe America says:

Makes sense to me. And quite good reading, too.

  9. Mike H says:

    To prognosticate:
We will have another President Aquino. Isn’t it plain to see?

    2010 or 2016?

  10. Paul says:

Talagang Aquino uli and presidente natin sa 2010. Palagi na namang brown-out!

Kidding aside, this proves that the Presidency is a destiny. Villar and Roxas prepared so early but they did not anticipate the Noynoy factor.

On ealry campaigning, the media networks should also take some responsibility, alam naman nilang premature campaigning ang ginagawa nina Villar, Roxas, Bahyani at iba pa pero sige pa rin sila basta lang kumita.

Can media networks be more responsible, paran libel din yan pag hindi pinayagan umere di walang pre-mature campaigning, hirap sa atin basta may kita kahit morally unacceptable kasi skirting the law, payag pa rin sa mga padyak, sipag at tiyaga at sabi ni BF.

Buti nga nagkaroon ng Noynoy SAYANG LAHAT MGA PERA NYO NGAYON! BEEEE!

NOYNOY NA TAYO PARA MGA GINASTOS NINA VILLAR AT FERNANDO MASASAYANG!

Speak Your Mind
