Korina Sanchez shows her claws against RG Cruz
September 15th, 2009 by Patricio MangubatKorina Sanchez, erstwhile fiance of Senator Mar Roxas, is again on the warpath. After Mar lost the Liberal Party nomination, Korina went on a rampage. She first engaged Inquirer columnist Conrad de Quiros, accusing him of disparaging Mar thru his daily column. Then, she trained her guns against Senator Kiko Pangilinan, practically accusing the senator of kawalang utang na loob.
I thought that that was the last of Korina’s outburst. However, today, I chanced upon Atty. Marichu Lambino’s blog, with a glaring scoop on Korina Sanchez’ letter to the ABS-CBN management, asking for RG Cruz’s head.
RG Cruz, one of the most active traditional journalist in the web and a colleague here at FilipinoVoices, is being accused by Korina of writing negative remarks against her in his Facebook account. Read the letter over at Lambino’s blog and you’ll sense how bitter and acerbic Korina is.
She virtually described RG Cruz as a relative unknown, a guy with dubious fashion taste and with a cloak and dagger personality. To my mind, Korina is entitled to comment on RG Cruz’s fashion sense. That’s her right.
But, to ask for that poor guy’s head over some personal remarks over Facebook reflects the true nature of Korina as a domineering mayordoma in that household called Kapamilya channel.
RG Cruz is entitled to his own opinions and views. For Korina to stifle his right to free expression shows you how stupid Korina is. Let me rephrase this—it shows how fake Korina is.
She demands that government respects every right of each and every citizen, when deep down inside her lurks a dictator ready to pounce on hapless journalists like RG Cruz and Conrad de Quiros. It’s downright okey if Korina just wrote a letter to RG Cruz asking him why he thinks about her that way. But, for her to use her “enormous powers and influence” and breath down on this guy just because of what he believes in, that’s too much.
I thank God that He allowed Noynoy to snatch the Liberal Party nomination away from Mar. Kung hindi, baka naging accessory pa tayo in bringing to the palace, another Imelda Marcos.

This should stoke up the fires! In Filipino, gagatungan ang apoy!

Ummmm, what is that woman scorned line?
I guess it applies to lovers and journalists.

@chitae: Really nice twist on the “woman scorned” line!

Network television journalists are actors on the political stage, so what else is new?
They inhabit the same universe, so why the fuss?

Hmmm…
September 15, 2009 at 10:21 pm
erstwhile? you mean the wedding is off? it’s still on, man.
mar didn’t have the nomination yet, in the first place. he didn’t lose it. at best, he gave it up.
i guess rg fired the first shot. tit-for-tat.
September 15, 2009 at 10:23 pm
The Lady is hurt, if you hurt her love. So, watch out ! Politics
is a very contentious field. The fact that Mar Roxas is a politician.
She should learn to play the political field.

Be careful what you wish for – Kamaganak Inc is as potent and as duplicitous as Imelda Marcos.

Hell hath no fury like Koring, hehehe.

I don’t think Korina has the right to complain, its a personal opinion, and although I haven’t seen RG’s comment on Facebook.. It’s a Facebook account, and one that is a personal account, nothing even remotely in line with ABS-CBN.
RG is into social media, he makes it known that his opinions are of his own. And most of the time, what he writes, is personal. Furthermore, I think RG also makes it known that most of his personal messages on social media are to be kept confidential unless otherwise stated.
In any case, I have disagreed with some of RG’s political opinions in the past, but agree on some as well… He’s a great journalist, and so is Korina. Ding knows Korina on a more personal basis, so I would have to defer to his opinion.
Both are probably just expressing their personal opinions, I just hope it doesn’t get to the point that we are asking for heads to roll..
I hope they make peace, I like both of them..

Re: RG Cruz vs. Korina Sanchez

‘For Korina to stifle his right to free expression shows you how stupid Korina is’
Free speech is guaranteed by the government not Korina.

Just my personal opinion… journalists have joined showbiz people and politicians in providing entertainment for the country. ;)
September 16, 2009 at 1:24 am
politicians, journalists and showbiz people….they not one and the same rotten tomatoes?
September 16, 2009 at 3:04 am
Hahaha…all with their own little personal agenda. They cry foul when their freedom of expression is infringed upon yet infringes the freedom of expression of others, what a double standard oxymoron.

Yes, that is the route being taken in the US, too, as alleged news reporters like O’Reilly and Olberman report with a clear bias aimed at imparting their political sense of right and wrong.
Walter Cronkite, may he rest in peace, was very different than these showboats . . .

Yep. It’s press license without a sense of ethics.

C’mon women are emotional.
September 16, 2009 at 9:14 am
Press freedom allows either way. Case closed.

i can’t believe korina wrote that. what a terrible writer she is pala. to think she’s supposed to be abs-cbn’s top broadcast journalist.

It is rare to write good and talk good
September 16, 2009 at 11:15 pm

I thank the wisdom of fate that we did not end up with THAT ex-future First Lady, or all of us Facebook afficionados will end up in the GULAG!
Maybe ABS should re-consider letting her back on radio if she thinks she CAN, but others CAN’T
September 21, 2009 at 1:51 am
totally agree
September 18, 2009 at 8:38 am
September 18, 2009 at 11:25 am
I agree that RG has the right to express his views. This is a free country. Korina should think first about her actions as this could affect Mar Roxas eventually. Imagine the kind of first lady she could have been…vindictive..and with a volatile temper as well. She should be more like Noynoy’s gf..she’s not in the limelight and she would rather not be involved with all these theatrics otherwise known as the political area dominated mostly by trapos and attention seeking political wanna be’s!!
As for ABS CBN better prove to us that you will not let one of your employees bully you into giving a sanction to an opiniated youngblood. If Korina thinks lowly of RG she should watch her words. Because you’ll never know who RG will become in the future. Never be judgmental. You’re in the limelight and traipsing in the world of dirty politics. Be a good sport and take it all in stride.
As Martin Luther King Jr. said “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” So to RG keep your head held high!! You have nothing to lose but so much more to gain! Keep the faith!!!
September 19, 2009 at 12:20 pm
I would say she is now having a dose of her own medicine
September 20, 2009 at 2:30 pm
Oh my gosh, I’m happy that she’s not going to be a first-lady and I think she’s ill-bred. Ews
September 21, 2009 at 11:01 am
i reaally find rg cruz’s blog quite personal in a damaging and unnecessary way.. it is tru that giving out your opinion in any way is our right, yet as educated as rg supposedly is shud know that that right shud not be mistakelny use as a cannon for our insecurities, envy, and ignorance. korina’s personality may not be agreeable with everybody. but the fact remains that shes the only broadcaster in our country that truly commits to public service.. when she showed her true feelings, its tantamount to sincerity. kung sa iba pa yan.they’ll be saying fruity, sweet colorful comments.though its not.
September 21, 2009 at 9:38 pm
“… when deep down inside her lurks a dictator ready to pounce on hapless journalists like RG Cruz and Conrad de Quiros.”
apparently you haven’t heard the entirety of her radio interview or maybe you haven’t heard even just a bit of it. she never pounced on say conrad de quiros, she was hurting at the time & was only expressing how she honestly felt. like you many times stated, everyone has the right to express himself, so she did. but if one would say unwarranted, spiteful, hurtful comments regarding someone, he better be ready to take the consequence of his act, for daggers would most likely be thrown to his direction. if you ever are a target of spite, you surely would react as well, maybe differently idk. with freedom comes responsibility, with freedom comes prudence & good judgement, with freedom comes anticipation of the cause and effect btought about by that same freedom. in short, i don’t fault rg cruz for his facebook comments nor do i fault ms. korina for how she reacted. anyways, i’ve no way of verifying if she did write the letter.

There’s a world of difference between bashing a person publicly over internet and bashing an officemate/co-worker publicly over the internet. Regardless of whether the statement or opinion turns out to be true or not, the point is you should never do that against a co-worker. It’s an unwritten rule – or at least this is what professionalism dictates.
As the Loyalty Pledge states: if you work for a man in heaven’s name, work for him, speak well of him, and stand by the institution by which he represents – and things to that effect.
As far as I can see, RG drew first blood, so he deserves whatever “claws” come his way.

I never thought all those stories I have been hearing about Korina are true. This just proves it!
