Our generation has a challenge set before it. To say that our Republic today is ill is to state the obvious. To blame generations before is a mistake. We can no longer afford a Philippines so deeply divided. We can no longer allow our nation to be so much in quarrel over the past and with itself. With our norms and our values perverted to such extreme that all sense of propriety, of duty, of honor, of obligation are twisted. We can no longer afford a nation so engrossed with frivolous matters. “The State of the Filipino Nation on the Road to 2010 and beyond” is the story that the tendrils of corruption extend into every facet of society and the threats we face are most real. The threats are complex and the challenge daunting. We must embrace our darkest fears. It is the story that says, we must act and we must act seriously.
That’s what we have here today. That’s where our Republic is.

Nice post Cocoy. Its a summation of Benign0′s one liner. “We expect so much of our leaders and nothing from ourselves”. Or from me: “Nation-building is a business thrust in everyone of us”. Or bencard: “The head is rotten because the body is”.
Speaking of Benign0 and Bencard, i hope their temporary hibernation were not equivalent to DJB’s irrevocable farewell.
There are cynics. There are pessimists. There are gloom forecasters.
As long as we are breathing. There is hope to turn situations around.
There are things to be done. There are crooked to be straighttened.
It is hard work. But, it is not impossible. If we put our minds into
true reforms. Roll your sleeve. And start working.

(using my other email addrress, the above post says “awaiting moderation, i have to repost using my original email address) sorry folks.
i think benign0 is active at getrealphilippines?
I was ruminating in bed this morning, not to be confused with what cows do when chewing contently on their cud, as it was not contented, and wondering where are the real Philippine heroes? Those who insist on a higher standard of right over wrong, and demand that their country reflect their values. Where is the relentless pursuit of a higher ground that says, enough of this. We are modern and intelligent, we are good. Let’s get productive and exhibit a higher command of our higher values.
Heroes are sometimes accidental. Often they are lucid thinkers.

It would be nice to see the “how-and-when” actually happen while we’re still around.
Better happen quick, or it will be “Dumb All Over” again…LOL!
Hahaha….we are what we is!!!
Well, truth is, everything that I say here is subject of this rather vicious ‘Awaiting Moderation’.
Time to overcome fear.
