Relaxed and comfortable, Manny Villar wearing a simple orange polo shirt and jeans sat with Team BlogWatch.ph in cozy Bo’s Café at Bonifacio High Street. @momblogger was hosting. @yogajane was on deck on twitter, sending live tweets for Team BlogWatch. And from my vantage point, which was through the magic of live ustream, the entire event evoked a fireside chat with a leader. It went well with what the conservative Villar was projecting that he is a benevolent, experienced, older politician, and that “he is ready to lead.”
And yes, that was a jab at survey leader Senator Noynoy Aquino’s campaign.

A fellow who used government funds to build roads to his subdivisions
finally speaks up. How can a billionaire become Anti Poverty? Give his
Billions away?
Agriculture has been an issue since I was young. We are always in the same unproductive cycles, ever since. We have the IRRI at Los Banos. The Thais and the Vietnamese come to study at IRRI. Implement what they had learned. They produce bumper harvests of rice. Then, we import their rice harvests.
The Squatters in Metro Manila. No candidate has touch this subject. If
Villar is Anti Poverty. Then, he must address this issue. What are your
solutions?, Mr. Villar.
The Mindanao Conflict. The issue is like an unsightly bunion showing
its prominence. What will Villar do with the Warlords, bandits, rebels,
and all kinds of lawless elements running around in the area. Like they
are having a “fiesta”.
Graft and corruption. How will Villar deal with this issue? He seems
to be a promoter of this. Since he has an existing ethics issue.
So much more to enumerate…
Hyden Toro, Villar on mindanao, when interviewed by blogwatch said: (and i paraphrase) No president can fix the problem in six years.
I still recall NoyNoy’s solution to the Mindanaw problem (interviews published in VERA files). Intermarriages and bringing Muslim youth to Metro-Manila (scholarships or training programs) so that they (the Mindanawans) can be enlightened and develop stronger friendships with Kristiyanos.
I dont think so. If you think there is no solution. Then,
other prominent problems cannot be solved also. It shows
Mr. Villar cannot solve the problem. Nor even present any
probable solutions. He just wanted to be elected? He is
running on the premise that Mr. Villar can solve our problems.
So, he throws his hands up; if we present a problem? No solution! But just elect me! We dont elect useless people!
Hyden, cocoy can write quite well, and you took cocoy’s bait. Villar did NOT say that he had no proposal for Mindanao. What Villar said was that the Mindanao problem is so entrenched that it will take much longer than 6 years (longer than Erap-plus-GMA’s combined terms, longer than FVR-plus-Erap-partial terms) before Mindanao is as peaceful as, say, Ilocos Norte.
So Villar cannot solve the problem in Mindanao? don not vote for him. Villar is not experience in security except experience in business profit and conflict of interest. period. He is also experience in financing real estate but that’s all there is to it.
Gibo has the best answer. He mentioned about more budget must be put to national security such as training more policemen and securing Mindanao. Gibo also mentioned about putting more budget for schools and education. This to me is the best approach in Mindanao. Security will atract foreign investors. Education is awareness to the insurgents. Education and more schools in indanao is empowerment.
Noynoy’s answer will be the result of what Gibo will do. Bringing them to Manila? is noynoy out of his mind? the children can be educated thru TV , internet and other means with regulations. If Noy noy mentioned about technology and security in Mindanao then maybe I can trust him.
i think it it now obvious I am for GIBO… Go Gibo GO.
I dont endorse any Candidate. Decide on your own…
That’s just for now hyden. It was not a final referral. I can change my preference anytime according to the availability of information. But yes we should not endorse right away.. Lol
gibo has the best answer? eh!…gibo is one of gma cohorts…transforming the ampatuans to become a monstrous killing machine…tsk tsk…kaya walang asenso ang leyte…mahilig sa mga kurakotista…
“i think it it now obvious I am for GIBO… Go Gibo GO.”-leytegirl
kaya pala, heheh. martial law, go, go, go!
mahilig sa pogi, ahay, hehehe.
nosibalasi,
I cannot disagree with you. you can be very right . you think leyte needs a martial Law? like a financial assessment and send the ombudsman there too like a martial law in financing terms? mang juan who rides his carabao may be very happy.
go martial law go..
Yes bert, GIBO is Hot. go gibo go… hehe.
Long solution is the same as No Solution. The Tamil Tigers were
defeated by the Sri Lankan Generals in just one year of strategic operation. After many years of fighting.
Tamil Tigers were worst than the MILF and the NPA combined. They killed Primier Gandhi of India by suicide bombers, some years ago.
I dont think it is a bait. It shows these people are bankrupt on
military strategy. They are talking with their ignorances. More
than six years. Means Villar cannot solve the insurgencies in his term. The fellow is a Business Administration graduate and a Real Estate Developer. No Millitary experience.
And, we are facing insurgencies of all kinds. We need a President
who can formulate and understand Military Strategies. Not one who know how to strategize public funds for his business.
the problem with Filipinos is that we elect a president and bank on him to solve our problems. and to find a quick fix for mindanao (and i don’t even know if you’ve ever been in mindanao) is as naive as noynoy’s solution for such a complex problem. there are problems that can’t be solved and there are those that can be. the sooner we discern one from the other and do our INDIVIDUAL part, maybe there is hope for this country.
Hindi ba it is more important to have a good heart than to have the capability to lead?
Some people do believe that all one has to know one can know in kindergarten. Basta may maghahatid sa eskuwela, puwede na, masaya.
It was obvious for all the commentary he gave that Villar was poking at Aquino all throughout the interview.
If there is really a need for Villar’s candidacy to poke at at Aquino’s candidacy, Villar should rather let his supporters do that “un-leader-ly” trait.
The fact that he prefers do it tells something about his character. While he may have some considerable level of commitment and competence, but he seem to project a low level of character. Many people perceive him as a clever schemer thus gaining him low rating in trustworthiness.
cocoy,
Sometimes, it is good to poke at someone, as long it is in good intention. And yet, people have discovered that to know others is not necessarily to love them. Conflicts and confrontations are a regular feature of daily discussion, which is all fine; but sometimes these can become personal and hysterical, and lead to lifelong hatreds.
But, you must also understand, that this is primary election time. One must endure such an attack from an opposing quarters. Tongue lashing is pretty equivalent to each its own. Backbiting is a common ritual amongst these candidates. And you know, they love it.
Hopefully, when it’s over, we are not back into the same HELL we were in.
mario taporco, of course. :D to clarify: what i meant was, Villar’s got the gloves off and not pulling any of his punches against Noynoy, is all i’m saying.
Actually, Manny Villar has “gloves on” as he works his way to presidency.
NoyNoy-Mar invited Pacquiao, but
Villar explained that durning his interview. He and Pacquiao are friends. So i guess Pacman is supporting his friend.
Being from a poor family does not Enhance your ability to
solve the country’s problems. We are tired of this mantra:
“I am from the poor”. We want a President who can solve our
many problems.Whatever social level he/she may come from. Not one who thrives on useless gimmicks!
Lito H,
And of course Manny knows that Pacquiao is a great asset to him. Does Manny know this, no not Villar, but Emmanuel. This ringside champion, has so much in liquidity asset, that Manny, yes Villar, has to have him by his side. Because Manny, yes Villar again, that his assets are tied in security bonds and real estates property. Yes, Manny, not Villar, has so much liquid asset and much more to gain than Manny, that would Villar himself.
So, Manny, yes Villar, is educating Manny; the ringside champion how to become more prosperous, and apply his wealth into a residual income, for his future plan. Yes, that would be and you’d guessed right. For Villar’s own plan. Hell, that’s two Manny’s for you, for the price of one.
Ooops!
correction:
“…more to gain than Manny, that would Villar himself.”
should be:
“…more to gain than Manny, that would be Villar himself.”
Sorry, a good heart is not the issue. Common Filipino voters like
me need a COMPETENT leader. And a leader with a good CHARACTER. if he/she has the two characteristics. He/She is ready to lead…
We dont need a Mother Theresa to be our President…
Hyden,
Here is a good example:
Gloria M. Arroyo has a good heart, it just not functioning properly. LOL!
Cocoy,
happy holidays!
happy holidays too karl! :D
I urge all Filipinos to examine carefully what these Candidates stand
for. “Sa bunganga, nahuhuli ang isda”. Analyse carefully their answers
on the issues. If they evade the issues. It means, they are not ready to tackle the problems of our country. From there, you can evaluate their COMPETENCY…
Go for JC de los Reyes.!!!
jcc,
Let’s get off tangent for a moment. And please do, enlighten me with knowledgeable perception.
I have a question for you in regards to one of the Presidentlial Candidate nominee, Edu Manzano. He has registered through COMELEC as a Presidental Candidacy for the May 2010 election. I have noticed while I was doing my research on Edu Manzano, I ran into some discrepancy on my part, that need to be brought forth, and by questioning you with my concerned.
In regards to [Edu Manzano's] dual Citizenships. It is permissable to aquire dual citizenship which I have one myself. Being born in the Philippines, as an American Citizen in a foreign land, due to my parents. So as Edu Manzano, being born in San Francisco, California. Under the constitutions of both countries, automatically gives us both, that privilege to apply for dual citizenship.
Now, my question is. Since Edu Manzano is running for the Presidential Candidacy. Legality wise, Edu Manzano needs to denounce his American Citizenship, in favor of Philippines Government, and it’s democracy. He cannot serve both, or having the privilages of both countries. This is major concern, due to government conflicts of interest, specially the United States of America’s security. I have no way of knowing if Edu Manzanco has already done so, by denouncing his American Citizenship, birth right.

This puts Manny Villar a wee bit lower on my character scale. Why should he waste his words on making allusions and make cheap shots on other candidates while he could use these precious air times and publicity to promote his platform and visions?
Villar is from the old school of politics. When candidates go
from town to town to pitch their political agendas with Entertainers.
Information Technology like the Blog, the Twitters, Texting, etc… have made people better informed on issues during elections.
Plus we have Filipinos who are well educated, very intelligent and well informed who can also help in the information. This can make and unmake any Candidate. This election will be very much different.
Edward,
This is the time, that each one of these candidacy takes out their joust, and start poking it at each other’s. It is the fundamental of being a politician. One, who can skillfully jab the other with a stick, and knock the opponent off the podium. This is where we, just sit back, and watch to see how the jousting is being played.
Remember, you get too emotional about the issue(s) given, you just fell one giant step backward, and you’re not ready for the big stick, ramming at you. Sit back and relax, listen to their pretext words that are being applied. Watch, their jabbering lips, move about. Now, do you see their true character. So, who’s carrying the big stick after-all.
Food for Thoughts:
• Be bias, don’t just listen to one. Scrutinize all
• Like I said before, don’t get emotional. Or, you’ll take one step backward
• Have a group discussion afterward
• Remember, it’s not ME, MYSELF and I. It’s a group discussion, set a good topic(s)
• And I always, learned from others
Personally speaking, you guys know already my personal bias but on the plus side, this shows Villar’s supporters just how much the guy has to offer. I don’t think He’s wrong in a lot of issues, I think he’s imagining too little. He isn’t bold enough in my humble opinion.
Manny Villar, imho is too much GMA.
I’ve heard it all before— they all know what to do. They obviously know what’s wrong and know the steps to fix but when personal interest collide, what will manny villar do? So in my mind’s eye, it isn’t, “is VIllar better than Aquino or is Aquino better than Villar”. the question in my head is: “Is Manny Villar any different from Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo?”
That is a good question, so let us put it to paper — even if NoyNoy has no spouse, is NoyNoy Aquino and kamag-anak (including in-laws) any different than Cory Aquino or GMA?
You can ask the same question about Erap-para-sa-mahirap. What I mean is that Erap did not have enough time to prove his presidential capabilities because metro-Manila middle-class elitists surged-the-gates without giving “impeachment” the proper respect.
The guy is a candidate for President. You have the right to
support any candidate. However, there are issues, as I have
cited. We want detailed and understable answers for these
issues.
It is not just like saying : “I am Anti Poverty”. How will
you help those Metro Manila Squatters living near those
garbage dumps? What programs can you present? To get them out
in the cycle of poverty.
The Mindanao Problem and the NPA problem are there. How will
you defeat the insurgents? Bring a lasting peace. So that
our nation can go on to tackle other problems?
These questions are directed to other Presidential Candidates
also.
Hyden Toro you can watch the grueling 2-hour video over here.
cocoy,
Talk about grueling two hours. Now I know where he really stand on the issue(s). Thank God, I have a dual monitors. I also like your twitter comment. Nice!
I think all the top candidates are worthwhile, in the sense that they are intelligent people, and people with a perspective and history, but none has what I would consider sharp insight as to how to fix the problems of corruption and ineffectual thinking and doing. To some extent, they are all trapped by a system that rewards obedience with power and power with gifts. When it is the “ideology” to toy with the Constitution to personal advantage, the sense of self is obviously overpowering the sense of taking care of the people.
Like most, I hope for the best, fear the worst, and am prepared to see a continued muddling along, the playing of favorites, playing of games, and endless posturing, sans constructive results.
Joe
Nothing works best than crossing your fingers, Joe.:)
Fear the worst, hope the best. And hope they deliver, and these, to the best of what I heard, are what the presidentiables will focus on in the first 18 months of office should they get elected.
– Villar — rice production (irrigation, roads); OFW’s (work permits from Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Japan, others); reforestation projects (for his VP);
– Gibo — infrastructure (roads, airports; elementary- and high school buildings); Mindanao banditry; NPA banditry; Constitutional change (foreigners can have higher percentage-ownership of projects); China and ASEAN; civil defense; push Reproductive Health bill passage
– Noynoy — reduce corruption; fight any move for constitution change
– Erap — more schools; food-programs for students; Mindanao banditry
Hoping for the best, that’s for sure.
The question is : How will they do it?
Mindanao banditry, for example. What will be your program, strategies and tactics. Dont worry, the rebels will not understand. If you just put the name of the strategist General. I will understand. I had studied military tactics, strategies and military history.
In the U.S. Civil War. Gen. William Tecumshe Sherman is my favorite Union U.S. General. Along with Gen. Stonewall Jackson of the U.S. Confederate side.
During World War II . There is no comparison to U.S. Gen. George Patton. Along with Gen. Eishenhower. Field Marshall Zukov of the U.S.S.R., was a brilliant defensive General. The
Hero of Leningrad defense.
I have yet to see a good Filipino General. Battle tested,
good strategist and reliable tactician. Most of them
are good in graft and corruption business.
During the U.S. Civil War. President Abraham Lincoln studied
military strategies and tactics. This is the reason, he was
able to relate to his Generals. In Britain, Prime Minister
Winston Churchill was a veteran soldier officer. Same as
Lincoln. Churchill understood military campaigns. Both
leaders won their wars.
Mabuti nama’t si Villar ay may nakasulat na plataporma. Iyong iba kaya, meron din? Marahil dadaanin na lang sa sayaw at kanta.
Villar already said he doesn’t believe in “platforms,” as quoted here and as quoted by mlq3. Also, you can read from my piece that there is HUGE difference between what the man actually wants to do and what is written on paper.
cocoy,
If Villar can’t even come up with one objective, and yet, he can sell tons of billboard ads. What else can he take from Pinoy-in Pinas.
MLQ3 writes that only Gibo/Lakas coalition has not produced its May2010-presidency platform (although clearly Gibo/Lakas coalition subscribes to GMA 10-point economic policy). MLQ3 writes that the Villar May2010-platform has been enlarged to include “environment” (VP stance) and farmer-advocacy (Satur stance).
NoyNoy staying with amorphous CREDO is probably because they find to their advantage to paint May2010-elections as “good versus evil”. The ground can shift on NoyNoy’s campaign, though, because after all, the only position GMA is a candidate for is representative-2nd-district-Pampanga. “GMA Talsik diyan!!!”-battlecry is getting irrelevant.
Villar does not believe in platforms because he cannot produce
a comprehensive and understable platform to offer to us.Villar is not ready for the job. I have cited a few of the problems. Villar does not have any good answers. He wants the job. However, he does not show us his COMPETENCE to do the job. Do not vote for this Fraudster.
NoyNoy, noy. Villar, noy. Gordon, maybe yes, maybe noy.
Go Gibo go! Go Gibo!
Go Gabo, go Gaba, go Ogag, go Gaga…

Manny Villar says that he is the protector of abused OFW, but few months ago, there was an incident here in Doha were as 9 Filipinos who were abused by their syrian employer needed help and Villar didn’t do a thing nor our stupid government agencies, they were stranded for around 8 months, good thing that there was an american resident who pity those filipinos and spend his savings buying tickets for those stranded OFW just to be back home and he also gave 500 Riyal (Php6,000) each as a pocket money, after Villar hearing this, he immediately decided to extend his help in front of the media just to have exposure again.
Villar is a businessman, nothing more and nothing less, he will give but he’ll make sure that he’ll get double in return. Vote for him and 5 to 10 years from now we will be the new BANANA REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES.

greetings .. i am a high school student from University of San Jose Recoletos (Cebu)
we came across a difficult homework concerning the platforms of the candidates for presidency.. i was just wondering of How to avail such information… i checked the net but i only found Sen. Aquino’s O_O
mEi,
i encourage you to read the piece, manny villar’s platform in its entirety. It was just written down because they needed a piece of paper that said, Manny Villar’s Platform. Villar is actually on record saying, he doesn’t believe in platforms. so he says one thing, and mean another.
gibo teodoro doesn’t have a written down platform, as far as i know. you can checkout, MLQ3′s “The Invisible Platform,” on his blog. It has links to all the other platforms like gordon’s.
Cheers,
C
Wag yung nabuyo. Wag yung may record aning-aning.
MANNY VILLAR FOR PRESIDENT!
We have to choose the lesser evil. All people running for the presidency want to help boost the country, but corruption is everywhere. With NoyNoy staging an anti-corruption campaign, how will he be able to stop something that has already existed and is permeating nonstop? How can he pursue his goal of a corruption-free when he can’t prove his leadership skills. The presidency is not something he’ll just work on once he wins. Please compare NoyNoy’s achievements to Villar or even Gordon’s. NoyNoy’s authored bills were not even focused on uplifting the lives of the extremely poor people in the Metropolis. He even placed a bill (Productivity Incentive )that is authored by Mar Roxas in his site. Although it was just tagged as Authored resolution, but still that’s not his.
Villar has authored 44 bills. His life story was also been featured in Asiaweek, Forbes, AsiaMoney and Asian Business Review. We need to scrutinize all the candidates. Despite the C5 controversy, which he already explained himself in the senate once, but denied Jamby and other Senators of further interpellation, still I don’t see any reason for me not to vote for him, but I’m always open to new infos.
Gibo also has a good resume. He topped the bar exams and even went to study in the Harvard University for his Masters. Senator Dick Gordon is also a seasoned leader and a lawyer. Aside from his intellectual achievements, just look at Olongapo now and check his works as SBMA Chairman. Let those speak for themselves.
NoyNoy is a good man. My vote used to be his, but I changed my mind because he can’t even solve the Hacienda Luisita Issue. He is not the lesser evil, he’s not evil even, but look at the people surrounding him. How sure are we that his clan won’t control him when leadership-wise, he hasn’t shown much for us to decide. Please check their sites and read forums or blogs. Some of the commentors show links for you to read.
We owe it to our country. The best thing we can do for our country is not to settle for less. Instead, exhaust all search engines to get as many infos about our bet and the other candidates.
