The wannabees in next year’s elections have until the 30th of NBovember to officially throw their hat into the ring and have their name on the ballot.
One of them is Manuel Araneta Roxas III.
Like the rest, Sen. Mar has of late been racheting up his propaganda activities with increased public appearances and advocacy ads, most recent of these the one were he is a pedicab driver.
When he first ran for senator, Mar took on the monicker Mr. Palengke, drawing from his being trade and industry secretary.
The cultivation of that image, one of being of the people and thus attuned to their needs, their struggles, cannot be denied the president of the Liberal Party who also tonues to champion the plight of parents hoodwinked out of their hard-earned money by the crooks who ran the Legacy pre-need scam.
This week, Mar paused to tackle a personal matter, but a move that is no less populist, in a manner of speaking.
On national television, he asked Korina Sanchez to marry him.
They did not announce a date yet but this writer predicts that the mariage of the year will take place with time enough to spare before Mar goes on the stump for his most challenging political adventure.
I worked with the good senator over at the DTI and even then saw a glimpse of the heart of the man, and of late he has been showing more of the readiiness to take on the struggles of his suffering compatriots.
No this post is not yet an endorsement, but close to it.
For now, this is congratulatory, as he prepares to wed his lady love.

Wowowee is not my idea of a romantic venue. Anyway any marriage proposal made anywhere casts a romantic pall on anything, wowowee included. At least they couple knows that from the first second to the last, they are in the public spotlight. I wish them the best!

From a pragmatic POV – the timing was very deliberate, well paced (in the context of the elections) and the venue of his proposal was on spot with the C-D electorate.
He reaps maximum political (and romantic – announcing for all the world to know, you can't top proposing on a TV show with a national audience) impact.
This provides additional wind for his sails in the campaign.

You know better than that. But as I said what can we do? The politicians have to do an act to reach the C-D crowd. It was not Mar/Korina's fault. It was the fault of the electorate that they have not managed to graduate from C-D class bracket.

Next time you open your mouth make sure that what comes up is relevant. What does having a son to do with someone asking another to marry him?. It would be relevant if you say that Mar is already married.
Definitely, it was a class C-D maneuver. But what can you do? The electorate has never managed to gradaute from that class bracket.
So… jcc… are you answering that yes, Mar Roxas has a son? Or does he have a daughter? And are you suggesting that Mar Roxas has already been married? First time I've seen anybody blog about that; and I agree with you, "already married" would be extremely relevant because of the immediate legal implications.
Speaking of marriage…. would anyone know if Mar Roxas has gone on the record to make divorce legal in the Philippines?

kris aquino cried because of this interview. she said that mar and korina forget about her, i remember kris told the people watching SNN that they’ll have the first interview of the couple yet it ended up in wowowee. so last week, after that korina sent flowers with card apologizing to kris for what happened. and mar, texted kris containing long message. oh well, i hated willie for doing that. why? because he’s using politicians so that the ratings of his show (though it is top-rated) will boost. hey. i’ve watched that episode. i love them as a couple. but why is it everytime that they are having a special day or event in their life coming it is always close to election? i don’t want to think that they are getting “publicity” because the election for presidency is coming but why is it? that’s the only thing that im curious about. i like them both, specially korina. i adore her everytime she speaks. oh well, people who doesn’t want roxas to be the president will think that this is some sort of “publicity” so that some of korina’s fans will vote for him. i hope they’re just inlove that’s why they’re having the wedding soon. i hope korina won’t campaign for him, i want her back to new and current affirs team after they got married. some source says that korina will help roxas to campaign but not to the point that it could affect her work. it’s against the ABS-CBN rule book. btw, IM HAPPY FOR THEM! :)
