MILITARY ON WAR FOOTING OVER SPATE OF MORO ATTACKS
August 18th, 2008 by Ding G. GageloniaPresident Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has put the military on war footing in the wake of a spate of attacks by Maro rebels in Lanao over the past two days which have left at least 16 dead and scores wounded, most of them civilians.
As this post is being written, Arroyo is convening an emergency meeting of the top level National Security Council.
Minutes ago Mrs. Arroyo went on national radio and TV to report: “Because of these sneaky and treacherous attacks, as your Commander-in-Chief, I have ordered the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police to defend every inch of Philippine territory against MILF forces, and immediately restore peace in the affected areas in Lanao del Norte.”
“We will not tolerate and will crush any attempt to disturb peace and development in Mindanao.”
AFP Chief of Staff General Alexander Yano Yano called the MILF atrocities, which include an ambush on an Army convoy, “a virtual declaration of war.”
“The AFP cannot allow this to go on,” Yano said, adding “We are now taking military action to stop these atrocities.”

“Both parties deprecated war, but one of them would make war rather than let the nation survive, and the other would accept war rather than let it perish. And the war came.” Abe Lincoln, his Second Inaugural address.

it’s about time. and this time, the guardians of law and order, and the defenders of the republic if necessary, must be resolute, decisive and unimpeded by the forces of surrender and defeatism in the name of “peace”. there will never be peace no matter how we try to please and appease these rebels. it’s like appeasing a serial killer so he would stop murdering the innocents.
no more of the effete and treacherous slogans of “peace at all costs”.

Watch out what Gloria Arroyo gives command to any military commander. She must not use the military for grab of power. We urge all soldiers and officers not to implement the will of a would be Dictator.
Deng Zhao Peng used the millitary to quell the student quest for
Democracy a few years back in China.
If the people would just had placed Burning Tires and abandoned
vehicles on the roads. The Military movements of troops would had
been neutralized. True Democracy would had taken place in China.
