A year ago, hundreds were killed when MV Princess of the Stars sank off the coasts of Romblon. Media trained their guns at Sulpicio Lines, lambasting the owner and calling for blood. Government took part in the melee and directed the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), asking the Marine undersecretary to investigate the matter. The Senate and Congress conducted their “inquiries in aid of legislation” and nothing came out of it. It would be good to ask people not to vote for these senators and Congressmen who took part in these useless inquiries for media exposure.
And like all other controversies, this one passed without any resolution, yet again. The ship remains there in deep waters, still not being salvaged. The last word from DOTC, they gave Sulpicio Lines a deadline yet the company did not even heed government. Magkano kaya?
Sulpicio Lines remains in business and their victims remain holding an empty bag. Government is yet again helpless and justice remains elusive. How much more?
There must be justice. There must at least be a resolution to this issue. Is government really inutile and helpless or probably grease or PR money flowed to stop public outrage against Sulpicio Lines? Don’t tell me that the Sulpicio Lines owner is more powerful than Mrs. Arroyo? This case is a slap on the face of government.
Mrs. Arroyo, is this the “strong republic” you were referring to in your first SONA?

And up to today, all we could do is just reminisce about Frank, as funds for the recovery of Panay and Iloilo in particular, has not been released yet.
Pabayaan mo nalang yan. Tutal puro mahihirap ang namatay at siguradong diretso langit mga kalulula ng mga yun.

What do you recommend?
Jamby Madrigal, Legarda and JPE/Enrile really didn’t do anything for the survivors of Sulpicio, did they? I don’t think I even saw a newsclip mentioning Satur Ocampo and the Sulpicio/Princess Stars.
——————-
I’ve read recent reports that the MV Princess of the Stars is still under water and authorities expect to find more bodies once the ferry is raised.
Senate and Congress work that way. Look at the Fertilizer Scam,
World Bank Bribery Scandal, etc…They are nowhere in sight. They
use these investigations to pander to the TV Cameras. Especially,
if election is getting near.
May the dead just rest in peace…
EDgar Go, the owner of Sulpicio Lines, was last seen lunching in one posh hotel in Makati. He was eating steak and enjoying himself. So, this is the face of Justice in the Philippines.
