Paano Kung Wala?

Filipino Voices is asking, Who are YOU Supporting for 2010?

Oh yeah, you should go there and cast.

I’ll wait. Done?

Great!

As I was saying, what if… we hold an election and nobody came? Or everyone did but everyone abstained for lack of choices? I mean, seriously.

It isn’t like we have a huge pool to make a choice from. Do we choose the lesser evil of the bunch– like we have the last 20 years or so? Do we make a stand here and now and say, you want us to vote— give us better choices. We don’t want plain vanilla. we don’t want chocolate! we want coffee mint walnut ice cream!

Are we prepared to draw a line in the sand and say— we want better?

What do you think?

    11:34 AM… I’m still waiting.

I agree with Cocoy: let’s move on with the name-calling and talk about issues.

  2. Flow Galindez Flow says:

  3. Low lifes, I’m back.

I apologize for my absence. I have a meter high of papers to read and sign. These are urgent matters of state which need my attention. You people have time to spare. I don’t.

I already answered Mr. Marocharim. As for his second question, I also have an answer. Honestly, his answers don’t merit my time. It’s too juvenile, really. It’s full of rhetorical muck. The core issue is power, yet Mr. Marocharim speaks of injustice. Whatta? He should be debating with a nun, instead of a lawyer. That’s one reason why I don’t want to comment on Mr. Jester’s site. I want to post my answer in my site, since, I’m comfortable answering these petty melodramatic questions in my site.

You can view my reax to Mr. Marocharim in a moment. Enjoy.

  4. You people have time to spare. I don’t.

rather disingenuous, sir. we have day jobs as well.

I want to post my answer in my site, since, I’m comfortable answering these petty melodramatic questions in my site.

i don’t know what the difference is between writing a post in reply and putting up a comment in reply. they are of the same level of ease and/or difficulty.

that said, and correct me if i’m wrong, but doesn’t that mean you cannot answer questions out of your comfort zone? does that not smack of, i dunno, cowardice? (i merely ask the question, THPoS — already other online denizens have charged you with it. you can prove them wrong if you so choose.)

  5. honestly, I’m no techkie. I can ask my staff, what’s the implication. Wait.

  6. Imang says:

    @the high priest of soot:

Honestly, man, you can’t even spell.

  7. to use an analogy on the implication of your seeming unwillingness to face off marocharim on the same thread, good sir, would be these:

    - for a duelist to say that he is invincible to all and sundry, without having crossed swords with his opponent on the field of honor

    - for a basketball team to declare dominance over another team by demonstrating how good they are in practice, but not facing the other team on the hard court

    - for a lawyer to say that he has given the best oral arguments before the supreme court, despite not appearing before the court personally as counsel of record and merely shuffling papers and submitting pleadings for the court to read

    - for a debater to say that he has won the debate, but not having shared the same stage as his opponent. (think obama refusing to get on the same stage as mccain.)

something of the sort. such is why online denizens have begun to call you coward, afraid to face a debater not a lawyer and much younger than you.

as the facilitator of your debate space i merely report to you that fact.

i leave you to judge whether or not this is worth your time. i stand ready to be of assistance to you, should you decide to face the young man on the thread.

  8. click on this link and let me know how else i can make it easier for you. :)

  9. well, mr. jester, i commend you for your thoughts. You seem to have a very inquisitive mind. And I think, the best of your league.

Yes, I might just be shuffling papers or not appearing on record, that might describe what I’m doing. Yet, the beauty of being able to speak out before magistrates is reserved only to a blessed few.

Yes, I will visit your site again, Mr. Jester. And will react on Mr. Marocharim’s illogical syllogisms.

  10. Imang says:

“Yet, the beauty of being able to speak out before magistrates is reserved only to a blessed few.”

You have got to be kidding me. I almost puked. WTF are you on man?

  11. imang,

it’s not my problem if you left your brain in some shit-hole. what I said is a fact–can you, (t) imang, appear before the court and represent another man if you’re not a lawyer? Therefore, the “beauty of being able to speak out before magistrates is reserved only to a blessed few” because only those admitted to the bar can practice law. and fortunately, you’re not one of us. Hahaha!

you should be renamed with an additional “T”. Hahahaha!

  12. Marocharim says:

    thehighpriestofsmokes:

that’s it, you ticked just the right buttons. you do not EVER, AND I MEAN EVER, insult another blogger when it’s not in context.

    you, me, one-on-one.

  13. Marocharim says:

HP: You stepped over the line. Do not alert yourself to my presence. I will deal with you myself.

  14. will you two please use your venue? *ktnxbai*

  15. Imang, Marck,
He’s on a drug called KSP (“kulang sa pansin”). Lots of trolls like him come onto weblogs and discover a thrill missing in their own measly and pathetic lives: attention.

Maybe his wife IS a magistrate and is screwing the clerk. Or maybe he’s a clerk that the magistrate won’t do. Lawyers are a dime a dozen in the govt, but they are the mediocre ones, else how do we account for the ignoble behavior?

That is where his unrequited braggadocio comes from. It can be a kind of addiction that quickly builds up tolerance, requiring even more grandiose and provocative statements to elicit even more attention by arousing anger, passion and other reactions. Most serious bloggers quickly learn to recognize such symptoms in newbies. Just think, he’s staying up late at night trying to figure out how to get the next fix. He’ll be okay again until tomorrow when the “high” wears off from getting a rise out of the bloggers here.

Ignore and pity him! Kawawa naman. Walang nagmamahal sa taong yan.

    HPOS,
    “He who only shadows kiss,
he hath but a shadows bliss.”

  16. Yo Jester! You familiar with “NING”. I haven’t visited lately but I used to think it might be a good application platform for a formal online debating site. Check it out when you can.

  17. mr. marocharim,

as what the “eminent” djb said in this site…ang pikon, talo! hahaha! and what, my dear young Apprentice ticked the “right buttons”? Aha, so, you’re a robot, eh?

Read all the threads in this piece and previous entries. Are you saying that now, you subscribe to my theory about power? That elites, such as yourself and members of this site, are the only ones who could malign, cajole, persons who bear a contrari view of your world?

so, mr. marocharim, what’s so hurtful about telling you straight that your arguments are wayward ones? My experience in court says that if a person suddenly burst in anger, there’s only one explanation–they’re guilty of the crime charged.

You just prove my point–the intellectuals of this country are the future fascists who, sadly so, would steer this country into more troubled waters.

  18. by the way, mr marocharim,

you are welcome to join us.

    hahahaha!

  19. Folks,
From the original blogger that got me into it:
Why I Blog by Andrew Sullivan in the November issue of The Atlantic. Google Page Rank 8 blogger!

It’s a must read for our tribe.

  20. Marocharim says:

    HP:

You know, I pondered about it… I’ll just leave a comment on your blog.

  21. HPOS,
Thanks! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery…and the beginning of my memes taking over your brain. You will be joining US, not the other way around. That is inexorable if you keep coming here. Please do.

  22. Marocharim says:

Uh, yeah. you ticked the right buttons…

    But I’m sorry HP.

    I’m already taken. ;)

  23. Paano kung wala??

    NEGO SUPOSITUM!

  24. lorena c. marzan says:

Ang inyong lingkod: Lorena C. Marzan, oooopsss erase , erase, amarkano na nga pala ako pango nga lang

  25. cocoy says:

    dean,

    NEGO SUPOSITUM

i know, odds are, the election will turn out just the same as 2004 did. sides will be drawn and people will choose the lesser evil. it is shaping up to be that kind of election. again. (i really hope i’m wrong).

Everyone i know grumbles and grumbles whenever they hear the evening news. The older crowd want people to vote. People my age are so apathetic that less and less of us are voting.

I can’t blame people for not voting. the pool of choices is so horrible even the lesser evil is quickly becoming unacceptable.

    So here are my questions:

what if people did go to the polls and a majority abstained?

What will constitute a failure of election on the national level?

In either event, what happens then? Gloria for six more years by default?

  26. cocoy says:

see i also don’t blame people like lorena c. marzan. i mean seriously, the country’s in such a mess that i really don’t blame people for wanting to jump ship and just forget this sorry mess.

that said, i really do think this republic can get its act together.

  27. lorena c. marzan says:

yes, i am a certified US sixty cents, (kasi menemorize ko lang naman yong mga sagot for half a day the Sunday before my interview)pero I can assure you that I am still 100% Filipino. everyday I check how much is the peso conversion sa Phil Daily Inq and of course, that’s why I decided to make sawsaw here in this conversation because I am very very extremely concerned on what is happening to my one and only Country , Da Philippines, I will not forget the sorry mess that the Country is in but it gave me hope when we visited Davao 2006, how clean the place, there is discipline, there are garbage bins properly placed at the side of the road on our way to Eden Garden. we were not afraid, my daughter was with me, she did notice that the military weapon, (I dont know what style it is, “that they just hide it under the table is unacceptable” my daughter is a US Marine, and she was very proud to show a glimpse of her country to her Unit when they were at the Balikatan exercise last April 08

  28. PEPE ALAS says:

Sir, or whoever is administering this blog, I wasn’t the who made those evil comments. Someone else is using my name/blog and I am so aghast. Never will I unleash such unprofessional words because it will obviously tarnish my name.

I just found out about this travesty when I was googling my own name. I feel so weak right now because someone is trying to put my reputation down. Certainly, you’ll receive my e-mail address before this comment is published. Please send to me the e-mail address of that person who is disguising as me… hopefully he didn’t use a bogus one.

Sir/Ma’am, I haven’t even read this particular post yet as I am writing this. I don’t have any idea what this is all about.

This incident poses a danger to all bloggers. We must all think of a way to avoid this evil scheme in the future.

To the readers, I’d like to apologize but I couldn’t because that’s not me who made those satanic remarks. You may visit my website and read the tone of my language yourselves (but you’d have to use a translator).

This is a tragedy for me personally…

And to you who’s using my name/blog to unleash your uneducated thoughts, you’ve just earned a point in hell.

  29. PEPE ALAS says:

If you want to track the culprit down, the forums master or whoever administers this website will find out that the e-mail address associated with my account is different from the one that is claiming to be me.

Please help me clear my name. I swear in my children’s eyes that I was not the one who made those comments.

  30. PEPE ALAS says:

You all seem to be talking about Philippine elections. Let me inform you that I do not care about Philippine elections. And another thing: I rarely read English-language blogs since my language is Spanish. Please help me clear my name. Thank you.

  31. PEPE ALAS says:

    Hello!

I have just written something in my blog about this/these person/persons who are destroying my reputation.

Thank you and more power to your website!

    Sincerely yours,
    José Mario “Pepe” Alas

    Estimados Filipinos.

  35. Let’s have Gloria until when she wants to stay. Anyway, impartially speaking, who can assure us or who can assure the whole Filipino people who want to replace her will be better?

I believe in the Chinese saying that “if you replace a fat chicken that is already in power with a thin, hungry, and needy chicken lusting for that same power, matters of government will surely become worse.”

We just have to recall that if Marcos was bad for the Philippines, Cory Aquino was worse as now plainly revealed by her apology to Erap. Cory’s successor, Fidel Ramos, was neither good in spite of his so-called efforts to prime-up the economy of this country “tiger status”.

Can Joseph Estrada, overwhelmingly voted to the presidency, but because he was more for the poor and for the Tagalog language, our English-speaking so-called civil society, did him in with the so-called EDSA 2 coup d’état. Then came out Gloria M. Arroyo with the approval of the EDSA 1 and EDSA 2 civil society. And knowing how corrupt this so-called civil society really is, she is doing what she thinks is right. And good for her administration, herself, and the country, she might as well continue being there. Because everytime we change leadership, things go from bad to worse, and that is a trend in our political history and culture that nobody can deny.

Sorry na lang. As Rizal said, “tal pueblo tal gobierno”. That means, since the people are corrupt, the government must be also corrupt. So, what are we talking about anyway? We are a corrupt people because over-Americanized. And we want American standards even if we cannot afford them. We are still an American colony. And representative Gullas (of Cebú), with his English-language policy wants to assure that we go on being a colony of the USA both economically and culturally. Might as well ask for American statehood. At least the vast majority of Filipinos who are poor may have food stamps even if America is now in recession which their own greedy bankers, economists, etc. inflicted upon the entire USA and consequently the world, including the Philippines.

Indeed, what are we talking about?

“Tal pueblo tal gobierno. Los esclavos de hoy serán los tiranos mañana.” Adiós, nuestro perdido edén.
