Earlier today, President Barack Obama gave his much anticipated speech to the Muslim World. It was at a university in Cairo Egypt that would be the stage. He sought to address the issues on both sides, as well as challenging not only Palestine but Israel as well. He also sought what has been the hallmark of his Presidency, and that is the need to seek common ground.
Indeed, in this speech, there was nothing new to be added, but it seems this speech was a new introduction, to Muslims around the world, that never has such foreign policy been laid out bare in such a fashion, that only this President could have made.
It can be observed that much of the applause were only heard in light of positive parts towards The Muslim world. But indeed, even in such a speech, the applause was also heard during the mention of rights for women, saying that women could contribute just as much as men. With this he received a resound applause.
I was most amazed at how, he masterfully entwined the connection of the three religions: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.
In the coming days, this speech will be analyzed and scrutinized. As for myself, one glaring observation remains, what Barack Obama seems to be doing, is to once again put America in the positive light and to do what he is trying to do in National politics and try it in the international arena. The importance of this has not gone past me, the topics he tackled was wide ranging, but are topics that are being talked about in all corners of The Muslim world.

the speech was great, typical of a well glib-politician. has all the right mix and was well-received in Cairo University. but will it be received by other muslim countries i.e., iran, yemen and pakistan and afhanistan?
obama is being naive. you cannot compromise with someone who is convinced that the only way to deal with you is to KILL you. then again, he got what he bargained for – damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. the radicals that supported him are itching to collect what he promised (or what they think he promised in his teleprompter speeches), or else, they’re gonna eat him alive.
