Rebuttal to Villar’s PR
January 15th, 2010 by Guest WriterIn an unsurprising attempt to discredit presidential front-runner Senator Noynoy Aquino, multi-billionaire and fellow Senator Manny Villar has released a press release saying “that there is no room for an on-the-job training” should Sen. Aquino win the popular vote.
The release proceeds to outline a doomsday scenario that will strike the Philippines on July 1, 2010, the first day that the 15thpresident takes office.
“The country is already facing a crisis of unprecedented proportions. The budget deficit is increasing and the number of Filipinos going hungry is now in a historic high. The next president should be president from day one…”
“…And things are not about to get rosy this year. The next president would be managing the affairs of the country under enormous pressure. This is really not the time for learning, this is a time for action,” he [Villar] said.
Senator Aquino will be pleased to know that—despite the blatant attempts by the billionaire candidate to cut his 44% (in the most recent SWS election survey)—Mr Villar is resorting to unfounded scenarios and losing tactics, ones used by US Senator John McCain (R-AZ) against then-Senator Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential elections.
“There are a lot of national security challenges and I know how to handle them. Senator Obama wants to bomb Pakistan without talking to the Pakistanis. I think that’s dangerous,” McCain said in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “I think that’s an important factor – experience and judgment. Ready to serve and no on the job training.” – Source: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23232655/
In fact, up until today, the Republican party is still using these (its only tools), fear and inexperience, to assail the president, just as the lagging Nacionalista Party is. The NP will no doubt continue to use these when they fail to scare their way into Malacañang.
Mr Villar’s scare tactics also takes a page from jailed President Erap’s campaign book, the one about poverty and hunger and his mythological rise from its ranks, to divide the voting public. However, the poor—just like the middle-class and the rich—were not born yesterday.
The hope that Filipinos have for Senator Aquino’s climb to the presidency isn’t based on fear; Senator Aquino doesn’t create false hope, that his story, growing up under the guidance of Philippine heroes, will be our story.
The popularity of Noynoy Aquino rests solely on their belief that when he takes the oath of office as the 15th president of the Philippines, he will be, from day one, of clean conscience and with genuine sympathy for the poor. And, contrary to Villar’s copycat press release, Filipinos everywhere believe that he will be a president who will in fact deliver them from scandals, corruption, and the use of power for personal and political gain.
These are attributes that Mr Villar will have to build hastily, and without a suitable blueprint. Something he will no doubt accomplish at the Filipinos’ expense. In that, he may be the most experienced candidate of them all.

why detract a co-candidate just to win the heart of the people? villar may have more experience – even the experience of poverty – than all the other presidential aspirants, but he is just following the steps of the old politicos called TRAPO!
villar is so desperate of winning the position to the point of spending millions of pesos daily for his campaign ads. if i were Villar, i would have spent it for the welfare of the poor…diba sabi mo nga ikaw ang tunay na mahirap!…POOR VILAR!

A housewife had an on-the-job training as president, armed only with her sincerity and integrity. She faced the spectre left by a dictatorship, a predominantly male chavinistic army (and coups), dozens of calamities (July 1990 earthquake, brownouts, the 1990 Gulf War, June 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption, the Ormoc tsunami, Tabang Mindanao). The people power helped her. We were all so proud of being Filipino. We just need an honest leader…the rest, with the capacities, will follow the leader.
January 15, 2010 at 2:11 pm
Villar is going all out to win the presidency. He has already spent a fortune, billions of peso i guess. Perhaps he needs to act from day one to get it back. He is pushing mainlty for action and work experience because HE CANNOT PUSH FOR HONESTY AND INTEGRITY…wala kasi siya nito based on experience. We do need actions but it should have a foundation- HONESTY. Bakit di pinagbubunyi ni Villar ang honesty? Marahil wala siya nito…

Well, you know all the candidates blow a lot of smoke, not just Mr. Villar. The relentless Aquino commercials that impel me to switch channels as soon as I spy the yellow clad, glassy-eyed troops tromping across the hillside with candles, evidently out searching for spiritual rejuvenation, are themselves a big pile of popular crap with zero substance.
Now, on the other hand,I am heartened by the discussion moderated by Mr. Ramos, with Mssrs. Villar, Gordon, and Teodoro attending. Intelligent questions were put forth and intelligent answers were provided. I found myself saying “yes!” more often than not. I was particularly impressed with Mr. Gordon’s stance on issues; clearly he has thought about things in a substantive way. So I know that there is at least a fundamental awareness among the lead candidates as to what has to happen. It was the first time I had heard the issue of nepotism raised as a barrier to productivity, for instance.
So, yes, there will always be lots of chaff, but there is also wheat . . . look for the wheat . . .
Or rice, I guess. Rice . . .

Joe,
I agree I think Gordon should run for mayor of Olongapo
January 18, 2010 at 12:13 pm
MB,
Ummm, yeah, where Gordon’s son is already mayor. I get your point.
Actually, Mr. Aquino’s new commercial is better, where he deals with corruption head on to express his sincerity on the matter. I’d love to see more in that vein, dealing with subjects like the Constitution, Mindanao, VFA, debt management, jobs, and transparency in government finance. Show that he has concrete ideas and is not just riding a wave of symbolic affection.
I agree Aquino has better “character references” than the others. How do we know he can run things with a strong will and good ideas and execution?
By the way, I detest Villar’s use of kids in commercials to suggest he is as innocent as they are. That is as manipulative as it gets.

Joe,
Let’s just say that one of the most basic requirements for job applicants is a police/NBI/barangay clearance.
Villarroyo has a long rap sheet.
Teodorroyo is the standard bearer of the Bonnie and Clyde Arroyo Gang.

What our country need right now is not a businessman in the palace nor an outsted one. We need change… a president for peace, for corruption in every level of the government, for our rights in transparency, for our dignity that previous presidents took away from us. Tough times ahead of us and what we need is someone to unite us, if we help each other out and respect the rights of everyone… then we will succeed. UNITY for change, POWER for the ordinary people… COVENANT for anti-corruption !

Rocks and Stones may break my bones. But, words will never harm me.
A good person will never lie, but one who conceit, is the one to be looked at.
Specially, the one that sings like a bird. A parrot for that matter.

“Filipinos everywhere believe that he [Aquino] will be a president who will in fact deliver them from scandals, corruption, and the use of power for personal and political gain.”
On the contrary, Filipinos on “our” side of the globe doesn’t believe it.

Does ChairWrecker receive pre-release survey numbers with his “40%” figure for NoyNoy?

Agree agree!

Just to remind everybody. There is neither wheat nor rice in snake oil. So let’s be alert and vote wisely on election day. If we are not very sure of our present choice, go for someone who’s the least evil, and give that someone a very large mandate. Let’s don’t give the election manipulator any chance to cheat us of the popular will.
For the good of my people and country. Please.

Manong Bert,
Got you covered on that!

Maybe FV should come out clean and inform its readers it’s a Noynoy supporter. When it comes to this years election, I haven’t read anything objective… but of course, since December I’ve stopped reading Conyo Voices.

For now, I am still in the process of differentiating these “Clowns”. You don’t want to come out right away, like a smoking gun, and shoot yourself on the foot for being hastily. Let’s listen well to all of these “Clowns”. Take no sides. It is your decision that counts. But hey, if you’ve made your choice already. You just put yourself in a very deep rut, and hopefully you can dig your way out.
Here are some help, so you can study.
There are lots of good informations here, about these Clowns. blogwatchdotph
That’s if you have the guts to watch these streams. Some are more than an hour long. Sit back, relax, pop some popcorn, and grab a brewski or two, and enjoy the scene.

Blogwatch is pro Gibo.
Betterphilippines is pro Gibo.
Gibo is going for the youth vote, so has gone crazy online.
He’s trying to pull what Obama did. Pick up a copy of “Audacity to Win” and compare notes. The way they brand him, his imaging, the style, ALL OBAMA.
Unfortunately for Gibo, we don’t need or want an Obama.
WE WANT A PINOY na makatotoo.

Juan de La Cruz,
If you read my comment more slowly, then you can open your ears, to a much clearer voice. Since you are not able to differentiate correctly to what I have written down. Kindly let me walk you through. I am not here to spellbound your intellect.

Musta Bert,
Happy New-Year!

@mario
I’m not attacking you, I am adding to your commentary :)
January 18, 2010 at 10:00 pm
oh to add: blogwatch articles need to be approved by Noemi Dado or “momblogger” who is VERY pro-gibo. i dare her to deny it.
January 19, 2010 at 1:25 am
Juan de la Cruz,
I am merely justifying my case, not sounding bombastical at all. I do kind a sense, that Noemi, as excellent as she is, and probably has a slight, inkling with Gibo. You are correct. Hopefully we don’t offend momblogger.

1. Villar is so obviously a sneaky SOB who is in cahoots with GMA’s camp. He is merely not saying it out loud because it would defeat the purpose. He is avoiding being associated with GMA because there’s no way the masses vote for him if he’s GMA “manok” no matter how much he insists that he’s a “batang Tondo” who will improve the conditions of the poor. If he wins, GMA et al. will never be held liable for their crimes against the Filipino people.
2. Villar has not really done anything to address the plight of the poor with all the billions he has. All the “help” he does are publicity stunts. A multi-billionaire wouldn’t have to wait to become president if he really wanted to improve the lot of millions of Filipinos who go hungry, are jobless, homeless and helpless.
3. Being a multi-billionaire doesn’t mean the man won’t steal from the people because he “doesn’t have to”. Greed knows no limit. The Marcoses, GMA and FGMA are prime examples of this. Someone should ask Villar how a “batang Tondo” became a multi-billionaire? Was this by honest and legitimate means? If he is indeed generous and benevolent, how come he’s not teaching and supporting others so that they too may taste this kind of success?
4. Being from Tondo doesn’t mean that you genuinely know the problems of the poor and marginalized; nor does knowing their problems mean that you intend to do something about them. Really, what has Villar done for the poor? Erap has been able to fashion himself as a pro-poor “batang Tondo” despite the fact that his life of luxury has always been blatantly displayed. It has somehow escaped the masses’s consciousness that he was born with a silver spoon. On the other hand, from his interaction with the people of Tondo, I believe that his concern for the poor is much more genuine than Villar’s.

The Presidential campaign is getting nasty already.
January 16, 2010 at 11:57 am
you ‘aint seen nothin’ yet. at this moment, it’s only a prelude. wait ’til the actual election.
January 16, 2010 at 2:04 am
Scandals – like Kris Aquino’s scandals? Di pa nga napresidente utol nya, talamak na ang kaputahan.
Corruption? Like Kamaganak, Inc? Ano kayo jumping from the frying pan to the fire?
Use of Power for gain? Like what Cory did to CARP? Adulterate important legislation so that Kamaganak, Inc can distribute SDOs in Hacienda Luisita?
Hindi integrity yan, switik ‘kamo!
What a mistaken belief!
January 16, 2010 at 8:43 am
all election campaigns ar enasty. bet used to it and be smart onyour choice
January 16, 2010 at 10:33 pm
Hindi ba 60% sa survey nagsimula si NoyNoy? Lito Banayo notes the number is now 40% with less and less pakikiramay-for-Cory sympathy-votes.NoyNoy kailangang magkampanya ng mas matindi. He cannot afford to be skipping forums and debates, it is the responsibility of his campaign staff to give him speech pointers and speaking points. He is Ateneo and Nike sales so the public speaking skills are there. Talking corruption-corruption is for the middle-class elitists anti-GMA. Shouldn’t NoyNoy talk more about masa-issues — rice and medicine subsidies for the poor, better schools. And farmers, NoyNoy can not ignore farmers, irrigation, more secondary roads and fertilizer-subsidies for farmers.
January 17, 2010 at 5:26 pm
60% only for selected regions, to begin with. it’s been consistently 40% plus across the archipelago.
January 18, 2010 at 12:38 am
40% is the steady and solid base. That’s a base no one since Magsaysay and Cory have seen.
Villar is getting worried because his solid base is 19% and the 27% is wishy washy, could stay could go kind of votes.
But 40% is solid Aquino.
That’s not me talking, that’s the surveys.
January 18, 2010 at 1:05 am
I don’t have confidence speaking about May2010 nor about numbers last year.If cocoy were to say “yes” and Inodoro were to say “no” that it was over 22% solid pro-NoyNoy on the month before Cory died, I couldn’t point to any source to settle the discussion.
If Abe Margallo were to say NoyNoy was polling at least 5 percentage points over Mar Roxas on the month before Cory died, I wouldn’t be able to say Yup!– Pulse secret survey said true!!
January 18, 2010 at 9:58 pm
Wait and see :)
January 17, 2010 at 5:12 am
Who among the candidates already spent a lot of money just to come up with (soooo many swing) supporters? Isn’t it strategically part of any business venture?, that one has to invest in order to profit? How much do you think Manny Villar invested in this project of becoming the President of the Philippines? Don’t you think he wouldn’t make up with his losses after he wins this election?? Hmmmm… he has me think twice about this issue. How much did he spent?? Billions of pesos?? How much would be his salary if he’ll be become the President? Not even comparable to what the VP of his company is getting right now? hmmmmm…
January 17, 2010 at 4:55 pm
Guys, always remember the principle of check and balance.. You should not go for straight voting, someone has to stand and questioned the President’s decision making , check and balance the significant issues of his action. In this case you can go for the candidates with high self esteem, good moral character and better governmental conviction. In the senate you can choose among others, Lito Osmena for good governance and excellent economic reforms. Track records should always be on the top of electoral consideration.
January 17, 2010 at 5:28 pm
masa issues. how often do you get to regurgitate that during election period. nakaligo ka na ba sa dagat ng basura? if not, do so, then we can talk masa issue. really, sincerely.
so, for villar’s final hurrah, let him do the swimming. then he’ll get my unequivocal vote. botbot.
January 18, 2010 at 8:01 am
for those who still doubt the validity of SCIENTIFICALLY done surveys,
consider that the Chilean presidency, with a difference of 2-4%, was predicted by the polls and validated by the election.
now, only time will tell if Noynoy will hold on to his lead over villar and if Prospero Nostradamus Pichay is correct in asserting that their much fancied machinery delivers an automatic 25% to Giba.
