The news first broke on GMA Network radio early last night and it’s only now that GMA News On-Line is reporting the details of the 2-page Valley Golf decision expelling Mr. Dela Paz and suspending Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman for 2 years for the roles they played in th scandalous post-Christmas melee.

It is now fully apparent that VGCC hopes its action will be seen as fair to the feuding clans with the larger net effect of helping repair the Club’s own blotted image.
My own sources inside VGCC now tell me that not a few Club members feel the Dela Pazes, while “being fast on the draw to report their side in the blogosphere, and thus gained immediate public sympathy cannot now escape the reality of their own provocative misbehaviour.”
Truth does always emerge and the Pangandamans may really have “acted in self defense.”
The question that the courts will now have to decide IS how valid the self defense argument really is and when such action became excessive to the point of how gravely Bino Dela Paz and his 56-year-old father were mauled.
One past president of VGCC told me: “Nakatagpo sila ng katapat (They found their match).”
Perhaps.
Secretary Pangandaman found it necessary to directly appeal to bloggers to stop condemning him and his sons, even intimating that his own aging father “was upset by the scandal.”
This writer grants the Pangandamans their bruised feelings, if not anger at bloggers.
But such is the public arena, the Filipino public in particular, that personages of rank in the government serving are expected to hold to higher standard of proper conduct in due respect to their exalted stations.
Let hatchets be buried with everyone drawing the necessary lessons in that basic school subject called Good Manners and Right Conduct.

GMRC? Maybe not.
Based on the penalties consequent to that incident and the fact that it was brought to the courts, it tells us the problem is not as basic as a course in GMRC.
oh so now its GMRC. geez you just never ran out of reason to promote this soap opera> and you calmed to that hate it?
what???? now it’s gmrc? haha
true the father dela paz will be expelled from VGCC but his children, bambee and bino will be spared. According to VGCC they are promising , young filipino golfers whereas the mayor pangandaman is a promising filipino boxer :)
this mayor cannot deliver his duty except he can deliver a punch. :)
In terms of abuse of power, the dela paz abused his power at golf course level . The pangandamans abused their power at national level. The latter are more dangerous to the public than the former. :)
is that all? just a simple “This writer grants the Pangandamans their bruised feelings, if not anger at bloggers.”?
only this, after calling the pangandamans liars in an article published on january 2, 2009 when all indicators of de la paz guilt are already at fore? http://www.filipinovoices.com/the-panganaman-dela-paz-family-feud
i think gmrc requires more than that…
Gma News:
“The Valley Golf officials “banned for life” nonmembers Nasser Jr. and Hussein for “unruly behavior” at the golf course.
Pangandaman Sr., a member of the golf club, was held “vicariously liable” for the actions of his two sons who were his guests.”
Take note of “UNRULY BEHAVIOR” and “VICARIOUSLY LIABLE”.
Should there be any call for accountability for those who from the get-go with the real story still unknown placed all their bets on one side and threw cautions to the wind?
Or as is typical because this is the ethereal blogosphere, which is essentially just trading and dealing on digital words, anything goes. Forget about circumspection, prudence, and fairness.
To GMRC, may I also add the elective: Objectivity – How to reserve judgement before all sides have been heard
Yes, it’s GMRC. Or if you care to, basic decency. You guys should refer to the original incident report where the drawn high powered gun were first revealed, a detail first denied by the Pangandamans. Read up gents. Your slips are showing. See you at Starbucks :~)
mr gagelonia,
wow, still defending the crumbling fort? i had posted this argument in your other article but let me repost parts of it for your benefit:
“when you interpreted the report, you have the gall to twist it to suit your needs–never mind the fact that you posted the scanned copy at At Midfield for everyone to see, complete with comments of other posters. Just read the title of your At Midfield post: “Valley Golf Guards Report: Pangandaman Security Men Drew Guns on Dela Pazes.” I scraped the bottom of my brains and recalled the many times i participated in several DSSPCs, RSSCs, and NSSPCs but i just cannot find the relevance of your headline to the rest of the article! i read the lead paragraph, i did not find it. i read the whole report, still i did not find it. my, my, my…
And in this Filipino Voices article, imagine yourself saying:
“More revealing, the report points out that the Pangandaman security drew their high-powered rifles menacingly at the Dela Pazes.”
where in the report did you find this? give me a break!
“The Pangandamans in their own ‘counter-account’ have consistently denied that they had any security personnel with them on the VGCC fairway.
What is now clear to me is they lied in this respect.”
another fast trigger pull. in light of rge’s account, the pangandamans now appeared to be telling the truth when they said that they did not have bodyguards in the fairway and that your client de la paz were lying through the skin of their teeth!
the comment of ordinaryobserver in your At Mindfield blog posted at 12:52 said it all, yet to still dared to post this article and make all this twist less than two hours later? ordinaryobserver said:
“I’m sorry, but the report doesn’t really help the de la Paz’s. In the first place, it doesn’t really counteract the Pangandaman’s story that they didn’t have bodyguards on the fairway. All it says is that the security personnel saw the bodyguards on the lower veranda of the clubhouse. It doesn’t preclude that the bodyguards were actually on the fairway with their principals, but it doesn’t confirm it either.
Also, the report only tells us that the bodyguards were carrying high-powered armaments. It says nothing about them using the same to intimidate the de la Paz’s.
read up gent. your slip is showing.
i don’t like coffee. makes me nervous…
Guys,
I marvel at your shallow reading of the post and what it means two have security men hovering over you as you lie bloodied and bowed. Ever been in a situation? Sure you jest when you assert that the very presence of the drawn guns did not have a menacing effect.
ding,
where in the agency report did you read the following:
1. “lie bloodied and bowed”
2. “Pangandaman security drew their high-powered rifles menacingly at the Dela Pazes” (now you are even reiterating this in your last post!)
please help me because i really cannot find it. i cannot even find the portion alluding to such circumstances.
here is the scanned copy of the report that you yourself uploaded in @midfield. maybe you lost the link.
http://midfield.wordpress.com/2009/01/02/valley-golf-guards-report-pangandaman-security-men-drew-guns-on-dela-pazes/
It is stated in RA 7610 that:
If found guilty, an adult causing physical injury to a minor who is twelve (12) years old and above will not be meted capital punishment.
pulis kuno, I MARVEL AT YOUR LITERACY.
Baycas,
Let’s hope the so called pulis understands this and duly informs his masters.
ding and baycas,
read again the law that you cited above. how in hell will this be relevant?
did you two realize that the case filed by the de la pazes against the pangandamans is “SLIGHT PHYSICAL INJURIES?” that is punishable under article 266 of RA 3815 (revised penal code)!
e yung sina sabi nyong batas ay very specific! ayan o, tingnan nyo sa taas: ARTICLE 263 (SERIOUS PHYSICAL INJURIES)!
hay naku.
journalist kuno, I MARVEL AT YOUR LITERACY
Pointless to argue with you given how dense you are not to realize that when long high powered guns a. Buy hey it’s a fee country. So see you are draw, the act itself is menacing even if the firearms are not literally pointed at the other party which has just been mauled and is bloodied. That you understand? Was I quoting the report verbatim or reading it?
why can you not answer the question directly? simpleng simple lang naman tanong ko a.
where in the reports can you find the following?
1. “lie bloodied and bowed”
2. “Pangandaman security drew their high-powered rifles menacingly at the Dela Pazes”
“Lawyer Raymond Fortun, the dela Paz family’s attorney, said Masiu, Lanao del Sur Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr., his brother, Hussein, are facing two counts of slight physical injuries and two counts of child abuse for mauling dela Paz and his 14-year-old son, Bino, over a golf course altercation.
Three of the Pangandamans’ bodyguards were charged with one count of slight physical injury. The criminal complaints were filed before the Antipolo City prosecutor’s office.”
You don’t know what dense means?
come on baycas. extend some help to mr gagelonia.
You’ve ‘converted’ me
Siguro magpupulis na ako. Pulis patola
more name calling?
hahaha
Sorry, PNP. That post should be here.
That’s in relation to the twelve-year-old limit you mentioned in your blog post on 14-year-old kid. The law probably is lenient to assailants of 12-year-old kids and above – I may say, the “not-so-minor” minor.
Looking at it differently or conversely, you’re probably right on the aspect of a 14-year-old kid being a possible assailant having a “not-so-minor” minor physique/strength and mind capable of inflicting light or serious injury/ies to an adult (or to anyone for that matter).

no problem baycas. i am just reacting to somebody else. nadamay ka pa sa banat ko.
sensya na.
First of all, what were the bodyguards doing on the golf course? It does not take an Einstein to fugure it out if they were bodyguards or not. Also from what I know, most golf courses do not allow non-players to walk the course.
Second of all, I do not believe at all that the Pangandaman entourage were out there just to beat people up. My strong feeling that they were provoked. If they were, it was not right at all what they did. Sr. Pangandaman being a politician could have just finished the game and then talked to Valley Golf officials. I’m pretty sure that he could use his weight around just to get his point accross avoiding any physical abuse delivered to the de la Pazes.
