If I may translate (to take out the poetic license from our song-and-dance “national language”):
To all Filipinos who love their Motherland, come join us tomorrow for a mind-blowing show of anger towards those demons in national costume for what they are doing. [Archbishop of Manila], Cardinal [Gaudencio] Rosales will be doing a mass at St. Peter’s Church at two in the afternoon. Wear black as a symbol of protest at the on-going rape being perpetrated by these animals in Congress.
Er, last I recall, these “animal sa Kongreso” were duly elected by POPULAR VOTE.
Apparently, the fruit does not fall too far from the tree, folks. Deal with it next time you vote for your congressman. You reap what you sow, so next time take care and sow only good seeds.
Aside from that Elephant in the Room, here’s yet another ironic thing that yet again escapes the vacuous mind of The Filipino: No less than The Man-in-Robe himself is conducting a “mass” (presumably as an act of indignation against the forces of evil in barongs) — a man whose predecesor endorsed various ocho-ocho “revolutions” that beg those all-too-familiar tandem questions:

:D What exactly has fundamentally changed since?
For that matter, and even more disturbing, what are we trying to say here? That only Catholics enjoy a monopoly on “indignation” towards said “forces of evil”?
Pinoy nga naman talaga.
Step back and think:
What distinguishes this little fiesta being instigated by our resident “revolutionary” from other grandstanding politico-infested fiestas stretching back three decades that were all graced by a bunch of “celibate” men who pompously presume to embody “God’s graces”?
And we wonder why our Muslim “brothers” feel so disenfranchised from the whole political process in Imperial Manila. This is that other Elephant in the Room people prefer to ignore in favour of the hollow-headed sensations being propagated by the “heroic” Philippine “Press” in the minds of the vacuous.
Wake up! The Church makes it a conscious effort to be visible in all these circuses. And for their part, politicos, “activists”, and yes, “revolutionaries”, make it a point to mark every occassion with some kind of religious ritual — such as a “mass”. Reminds me of how Paris Hilton makes a living gracing parties and promo tours to lend a bit of her sensation equity for a hefty fee.
Same business model:

:D Make lots of money in the process.
At least Paris Hilton does not pretend to be anything other than what she is…
In business and in politics, all you need is a mediocre value proposition and a throng of suckers to lap it up.

I might well say Filipinos love it.
When a family is stable, together and loving, our masses would find it boring.
When the father goes out to girly bars, the mother fights and threatens to separate, and the children are all rebellious, it’s less boring and the masses love seeing it on TV.
As for the church… call it religious whoring… serving the mass appeal and not the mass *needs*.

Same old faces screaming the same old charges. This fear mongering has been proven hollow before and the majority of the population dismissed the charges.
This is all just a replay of a show meant to keep the self-styled heroes in the lime light while creating false threats to be saved from.
I don’t think the general population will be fooled. They know that many of these “heroes” are communists, trapos themselves, unelected, unappointed NGO talking heads, senators scared of losing the Senate and presidentiables (and others seeking powerful positions), media friendly to the listed groups/personalities, etc.
All of this noise over a resolution with no teeth. Yawn.
