It’s semi-official, sources from the Obama camp have been leaking to news outlets in major news agencies, that Senator Barack Obama will pick Senator Joe Biden as his Vice Presidential running mate for the 2008 Presidential Campaign.
Both The LA Times and CNN have confirmed with sources from the Obama camp however, that when Senator Barack Obama announces his Vice Presidential running mate on Saturday, that the person will indeed be Senator Joe Biden.

As recently as Tuesday, Biden had been telling reporters staking out his home in a cross-country VP watch, “I’m not the guy.” So much for full disclosure.
Obviously, the 65-year-old veteran senator was chosen because Delaware with its whopping three electoral votes is such a crucially strategic state on the national political map.
Not!
Biden, who’s been a senator since Richard M. Nixon trounced George McGoven for reelection in 1972, was picked because of his long experience in foreign policy and national security affairs.
It is indeed the importance of foreign policy, as the recent Georgia and Russia skirmish shows us, that will be needed especially as November draws near. And the “inexperience” line will be thrown at Barack Obama and his camp is probably hopeful that this pick will lessen or even void that argument altogether.
And from CNN a little rundown on Senator Joe Biden,
The 65-year-old was first elected to the Senate in 1972. Shortly afterwards, his first wife and daughter were killed in a car accident. He considered resigning, but decided to continue with his political career.
Biden is currently serving out his sixth term, making him Delaware’s longest-serving senator.
Biden is married and has three children. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and got a law degree from Syracuse.
In 1988, Biden suffered an aneurysm and nearly died but has recovered fully.
One of Biden’s grandfathers was a Pennsylvania state senator, according to the Almanac of American Politics.
Biden will make his first big speech as the vice-presidential candidate on Wednesday, August 27 — the third night of the Democratic convention.

Dear Senator Obama and Senator Joe Biden:
This is the type of party unity we want to see. We were profoundly pleased and moved when we saw Joe Biden and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton co-hosting together on issues of great importance to the American people and the world. This is how we are going to out-do the McCain and Palin campaign/election for the Presidency. We the people realize that this election is not about McCain and Obama; but this election is about the People of the World including Obama and McCain. We do not want a King for President or an oil magnate or a dictator; however, we want an elected official who will sincerely address the issues of the people of America and the world. We want a President who is going to take office because he wants to do what is right for the American people and the people of the world. We sincerely know that this is what Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton wants and will do; and we believe Senator Obama that this is what you and Joe Biden wants too and will do. We know that once men take office they may become avaricious, too bosses, conceited, and pompous. We do not need these psychological deficiencies in a President or Vice-President in the Presidential Office this time, as we have experienced in the past. However, the Democratic Presidents never acted like Kings, or oil magnates, or dictators. We need a president who will tell the truth and stand up to the truth at all times and in all instances. We need a President and Vice-President who will be knowledgeable, open-minded, intelligence, honest, wise, and shrewded because in these times the wolves come in sheep’s clothing. We need a President and Vice-President who will be a genius at problem solving and a genius in dealing with human and scientific problems. We need a President and Vice-President who will be subtle and humble at the same time. We need a President and Vice-President who will put God first and then man because if you follow God’s laws, you cannot make a mistake. We know Senator Hillary Clinton has all of these attributes and more; she would have made an excellent President or Vice-President; however, God has a different calling for her. We advise you, Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden to work with her because Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has God on her side and she is a wonderful woman. Senator Obama and Senator Biden you will be able to get many of the women’s votes if you continue to have Senator Hillary Clinton present as one of your strategies. We know you are only using these strategies because you are trying to do what is good for the people of America and the world. We know that so long as your strategies are for the well-being and for the good of the American people and the world we will not hurt anyone or fail. We must first all pray when we get up in the morning and ask God to bless us in our endeavors. We do not think we are telling you anything wrong because you see how Senator McCain has used Senator Sarah Palin to help him win the election for Presidency; and Senator McCain is attempting to steal Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s votes she won in the Primary elections for Presidency. We must not allow it to happen because of our wrongdoings; and when you, Senator Obama and Joe Biden, are elected for President and Vice-President, we must remember Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. We must promote Senator Hillary Clinton to a higher position. Senator Hillary Clinton is a woman who has come a long way. Senator Hillary Clinton has traversed roads she did not have to traverse; but she did. We must all thank her, remember her, and be graceful to God for sending her to us.
Therefore, Senator Barack Obama demonstrate the Democratic Party Unity. Senator Obama tell the people, out loud that this election is not just about Obama but it is about the American people, the people in the World, the Obama’s, the Biden’s, the Clintons’, the Kennedys’, the Schumers-everyone who desires to do what is right and who is willing to change.
