Billionaire Senator and now Presidential aspirant, Manny Villar faces perhaps a tough test ahead on the road towards the presidential palace. The senator is facing censure from the Philippine Senate after he was found guilty for “improper and unethical conduct in connection with the C5 Road extension project.” This, the Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted from a Draft Senate report.
The price tag is said to be censure for violating provisions of the Constitution, and breaking the Code of Conduct of Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees as well as engaging in improper and unethical conduct that resulted in damaging the integrity of the Senate. Shouldn’t he also return, 6.22 Billion pesos of the people’s money?

No. Or else it would be a boring election!
I suppose it is up to Filipinos if they want to continue to accept the rationalization of wrong as an acceptable part of their national character, and allow a presidential aspirant to embody this character.
Joe
its very filipino joe.
jcc,
Yes, and to help my medicines keep my blood pressure low, I have to tell my mind, which is steeped in trying to discern right from wrong, to go with the flow of this culture, which appears not to care so very much. My poor wife hears a lot of interesting words from me from time to time, some new to her. After I apologize and explain them, she laughs . . . she is, fortunately, a Catholic with a bending sense of sin . . .
And thereupon our two cultures meet harmoniously . . .
Joe
..and we don’t juanachange
no outrage. i mean 6B? and people are just saying same shit different day. disgusted
no wonder he can do “infomercials” with gusto….6 billion….wowoweee
Yes he should but surely he won’t/
Delikadeza is not in his vocabulary, must less transparency and accountability.
yep, ding
so, cocoy, why should he drop out? is his defense weak? i havent read the links yet.
GabbyD,
His defense is irrelevant. That is lawyers posturing. The facts are relevant. The bits of testimony I read were certainly out of bounds . . .
I know you want links, but I have none. You just have to trust me . . .
ahahahahaha
Joe
i just want to understand cocoy’s article. why does he think (or you) that villar should drop out? is his defense shite?
GabbyD
Villar should drop out because he has harmed the Republic by effectively taking tax money for himself. In other words, he is a crook, and a crook should not be president.
Unless this is the Mafia instead of a nation of laws.
Do you find Villar’s behavior represents what you wish to see in a President?
Joe
unfortunately, joe, RP is a land of MAFIA. hahahahahahaha!!!!
our presidents can have someone killed, (Ninoy, Dacer, Curbito, Crisologo, etc). Even low-life police officers and their extensions, the Civilian Defense Operatives (previously called CAFGU) can kill with impunity….
poor pinoys…
jcc,
I’ve noticed the resemblance.
Joe
manny villar is the male embodiment of gloria macapagal arroyo and mike arroyo wrapped into one persona.
As of today, Jan 20, Jamby Madrigal is set to file plunder case against Villar before the Ombudsman, on top of the Senate censure and order to return P6.2 billion. It’s a difficult decision to make for Villar. If he does not withdraw from the presidential race he’ll likely spend every minute of his campaign justifying his innocence. If he withdraws it would be like pleading guilty to the charge.
After COMELEC gets done with Erap. Villar, is next down in line. Not for TREASON, but for being “NUISANCE.”
COMELEC is not preventing Erap May2010 bid. COMELEC says it is not for them/comelec to decide if Erap can step back into Malacanang as president.
Ahem, excuse me, why should Manny Villar drop out of the race?
Remember that like most oligarchs and wealthy families in the country, including those of the leading candidates, as well as his investigators in the Senate, nouveau riche Villar earned his money the old-fashioned way: he gamed the system.
Actually, this Senate censure coupled with COMELEC’s decision on Erap’s candidacy, bodes well for a sneak victory by, who else, Flash Gordon. :-)
That’s the spirit, Phil, my friend.
I thought, as of yesterday at least, u were shifting to Gibo after hearing the AIM debate, Phil? That surprised me because there r still big differences between Gibo and Gordon. But I see you’re now back to your old loyalties…
Why was this only brought up now?
If this was a matter of corruption on some government official, this should have been investigated (and tackled) by the senate long time ago…
This news appearing (and being highlighted) only when there are only a few months left before the elections, makes me sad as a Filipino voter.
Will i be forced to choose the “lesser evil” for my next president?
No! This a democratic country. Choose the more evil if you want. Or the most evil. Or, the devil himself. :-)
Philippine Real Estate Owner,
Better late than never…
I will not give up finding the “not evil” candidate. Our country has gone wayward on corruption and impunity at high offices we need to press the “reset” button at these offices to get us back on track to a future when we are not only happy of our race but also more honorable people. I will go for character than skill in choosing my candidate. Skill can be easily acquired moreso in the high offices where there is good access to information and knowledge resources. Without character good skills maybe used for bad ends.
our country is hopeless ,,everywhere is poverty,..of the mind,..of the pocket,,’of the spirit and relationship…what we need is spiritual renewal of every citizen…go ,,go for Bro. eddie V..JC de vera..losers but could be the ‘light ‘ in a dark tunnel…
