Storm Ondoy Turns Metro Manila Into Waterworld
September 27th, 2009 by Ding G. Gagelonia
These are the numbers overnight:
At least 35 dead with the Philippine national capital region getting one month’s worth of rains in one day:
One stark element I’ve realized is while the weather bureau – PAGASA – does tell us how fast the storms move and tells us what storm warning signal is up, people are not given information on the amount of precipitation expected so we are really caught unawares.

To fellow FV reader Bert:
I hope nakauwi na yung anak mo(nabasa ko sa blog ni manolo).
Ako nag overnite din sa opis si misis pero nakauwi na.
Buti na lang sa opis sila nastranded kesa sa gitna ng kawalan.
To the others(luzon area): hope you are all doing fine and all accounted for sa mga bahay nyo.

Thank you very much, karl.

Our forests are denuded. It will take many centuries to be replenished. It is the greed of a few, that we are now
paying the price. The Earth is degraded by strip mining. Pollution
on our rivers and on seas. The GreenHouse Effect is now giving us these natural calamities. The Magnetic Force of the Planet Earth. Which shield us from Solar Radiation is weakening. It has been degraded by The GreenHouse Effect. Factories and pollution of oil based fuels have produced large quantities of Carbon Dioxide that destroyed the Ozone Layer of the atmosphere. Expect more natural calamities. The unthinkable in natural calamities will happen. The uncommon will become common. WE BRACE FOR MORE TO COME…

Hey numbnuts we had a freak natural storm… The elements combined for a heavy amount of rain to fall in a short period.
Today waters recede faster than in the past. Building with abandon on riverbanks, creekbanks and flood plains are normal..
Homes in Forbes built at garden level also got flooded as the ground could not absorb the heavy rains fast enough.
Has anyone here ever heard of monsoon rains combining with a typhoon? In parts of Asia monsoon rains last for days..
It is normal..
Don’t forget to put labels on your care packages – GMA and GIBO Cares.
The public will survive as we all know that the government is mostly PR…

J_AG,
Love your candor.
Also, if flushes the roadsides and buildings upon which so many pee.
You are striving toward optimism, I see . . .

It is not freak. It is worldwide. Serious drought in Africa. Snows fall in places like Georgia State, where there are no winters. In the Midwest; the winters are becoming shorter. The North and South Poles are melting at a rapid level. These phenomenom are not freak. If you understand how this Universe and Galaxies work. You know the effect of Global Warming. Read about Global Warming. It is in the internet. Take good courses in Astro Physics. They are avialable in universities.

Astro-physics?
Could you please clarify how studying the physical composition and properties of distant stars, galaxies and planets contribute to our understanding of Global Warming?
I do believe GW is a real phenomena mind you, but I also know that “freak” logic like yours does a great disservice to real research into this topic.

Gibo, what he says on Old Media and his updates, is a revelation. Now Joe can construct a ‘platform’ for the guy whom he thinks makes good president.
For me?
My parents cannot even evacuate given certain understandable circumstances and here comes a guy telling us – “no rescue for non-evacuees”.
Nuts at the very least.
