The 2010 Automated Election Machine Source Code Wars

A long time ago, the daughter of Lord Byron, better known as the Countess Ada King of Lovelace encoded a set of rules to be followed that was to be processed by a device called the Analytical Engine. Thus, Countess Lovelace penned the first source code, which in turn became the first computer program. Today, the source flows around us, penetrates our daily lives, wraps itself around our democratic processes and binds our world together. Every computer system, every computer network, every smart phone and every automated election machine in the world are just glorified paper weights without the Source.

It is easy to romanticize Source Code. It has been done often enough: will you take the bluepill or will you take the redpill and plunge into the rabbit hole?

i wish this article was crossposted here too. its very important and i think manalastas is on to something important. i didnt know that the winner of the bid is not allowed to share the source code, and amend if necessary. thats clearly problematic.

Sorry GabbyD, but that was the agreement. snippet at “home” blog then whole post is over there.

As I understand it, Comelec wasnts Manalastas, et.al. to be joining their “Advisory/technical committee.” where they will share the information. but as i understand the law, the source has to be made public to anyone who wants it, i.e. the political parties, groups, etc. It sucks that no one outside the small universe of IT Professionals understand this.

Enigma Code Machine like Analytical Machine was invented by the
Romans. The Japanese Militarists and the Nazi spy machine in Germany
used it efficiently during World War II.

Codes or no codes. Politicians will CHEAT. Because it is part of the
Political Culture of the Philippines. As long as they will not
Mass Murder their opponents. Then, bury them with a Back Hoe. It
    is okay for me.

  3. This is down my ally. I do CAM interpolation, which is basically a system of mathematical structures for mechanical designs that needs to be process into a “G” codes commands(another type of source code). After designing a parts into the CAD system, and once you have the completed design part(s). Computer Aided Manufacturing is the basis of all parts that are being generated to become an actual working part(s).

Getting back to “G” codes commands, a programmer can interpolates the commands for the design parts and can bypass certain “G” codes, to which actually trick the algorithm from doing certain task. Mathematically a programmer can manipulate a Source Code to do certain function(s). This can also be done and easily illustrated by using Visual Basic softwares.

    Food for Thoughts:
I love playing “Left 4 Dead” on my sons Xbox 360. I am also not great or should I the skill to kill my opponents at the airport scene.

So, my task to overcome such programmatic solution(s). I go to my wonderful helper, my Bookmark and I have the, “Left 4 Dead” cheat sheets commands sitting on my laptop as I play along and overcome the solution(s). “THIS IS WHAT I CALL CHEATING” give me a break I’m not that great playing this game, so there!

If they can hack the complexity of these “Source Code(s), A PROGRAMMER can tweak any programs.

Teenage Geeks who grew up with computers. Can easily HACK any
Computer Program. These Geeks can even Hack the U.S. Department of Defense and some banks, to steal money.

    if cheating works
    go to
    cheat again
    else
    lie

  6. Ramon Guico says:

Automation may be one of the most significant move the government could take for faster election counting but it doesn’t really assure us that cheating and fraud in the 2010 elections will be eliminate. So,we should also be watchful.Still hoping for a clean and honest election.
