Former policeman Cesar Mancao is ready to come home, and by all indications he’s set to tell quite big story that’s worth the reopening of the probe into the twin murders of PR man Bubby Dacer and his driver, Emmanuel Corbito.

The leaked copy of the Valentine’s Day affidavit Mancao executed inside a Federal jail in Florida appears “similar” to the supposedly single copy in the hands of Justice Secretary Raul Gonzales.

Opposition Senator Panfilo Lacson is livid over the revelation that he allegedly ordered a hit on his arch enemy, former general Reynaldo Berroya, plus a cover-up of the”special operations” that resulted in the Dacer-Corbito double murder more than 8 years ago.

Former president Estrada also decries his being implicated in the crime and surmises it’s politically motivated with the elections just 13 months away.

Ahead of his extradition to Manila, Mancao wants to be given the status of State’s Witness with its attendant provisions for his personal safety.

There is no reason to doubt Mancao will become the government’s star prosecution witness if the big names he has fingered will indeed be hailed to court.

The question is whether the contents of the Mancao affidavit will lead to the long sought resolution of the biggest politically-motivated killings in years.
