I’ve just obtained a copy of the actual incident report filed by the Security Department of Antipolo’s Valley Golf and Country Club (VGCC) on that melee involving the Pangandamans and Dela Pazes.
Though written in fractured English, the report, unless it mysteriously undergoes ‘sanitation’ clearly reveals that the security men witnessed the bloodied conditions of 56-year-old Delfin Dela Paz and 14-year-old son ‘Bibo’.
More revealing, the report points out that the Pangandaman security drew their high-powered rifles menacingly at the Dela Pazes.
While the VGCC is reported to have suspended the elder Pangandaman’s playing rights for at least 6 months.
That’s a blow given that the mid-ranked VGCC’s current memberships going at between PhP 200,000 to 300,000.
(Makes me curious about the DAR chief’s Statement of Assets an Liabilities)
The club management has not yet issued any formal statement on the incident or on its in-house investigation.
It bears mentioning that the NBI itself is investigating the issue as a criminal incident.
The Pangandamans in their own ‘counter-account’ have consistently denied that they had any security personnel with them on the VGCC fairway.
What is now clear to me is they lied in this respect.
I am not saying the Dela Pazes are blameless and surely the elder Dela Paz regret having blown his top if he did so when the Pangandamans violated golf etiquette, in his view.
One thing this episode has done is it has further tarnished the image of Filipinos and ignited yet another issue against those of privilege in a society like ours.
The Pangandamans are being demonized in wholesale fashion.
But how else are we now supposed to believe the rest of their claim that they “acted in self defense.”
By the way, apparently ‘unruffled’ Secretary Pangandaman was reported to have motored to Baguio a day after the Dela Pazes were mauled.
What was he there for?
To play golf with presidential son and Congressman Mikey Arroyo.
What are we ordinary mortals to think?
Note: The actual incident report is @ At Midield.

pulis na pogi,
That report is clearly biased for the Pangandamans and completely disregards the de la Pazes’ side of the story. It details what the Mayor thought or said, but what of the de la Pazes?
Valley Golf in general is turning out to be such a poor source of information. Soon after the incident, they refuse to cooperate with the police, then hold an emergency meeting, after which they suddenly agree to cooperate with the NBI. This is very shady behavior, and at this point I’m inclined to believe that the VGCC panders to the Pangandamans.
Ding Gagelonia’s report gives me hope, but there’s very little to do at this point but wait and see how our local officials handle this case.
whatever!wats wid the crying2x efeect on t.v miss dela paz??when in fact ur bragging about hu u r in the golf club..what da hell!hu r u by d way??i heard a dela paz b4,a corrupt fellow who had stolen euros.hahaha..is dat what ur trying to brag to the pangandamans??i bet the dela paz are making a fuss about this because they want 2 have money from the pangandamans.hahahaha.oopss!
dats what you get for being self centered and braggart!so wat if ur studying in USA?if its harvard maybe il consider…MASYADONG MAYABANG KASI ANG PAMILYA DELA PAZ.thinking that they can put down people because of their ethnical roots.fyi, the pangandamans are half maranao but are prominent and belongs to the richest clan in mindanao.
dendoy,
some people just cannot accept the fact that they were taken for ride by the de la pazes. maybe this post by a certain aberosal (another original member) in pinoy golfers can shed more light:
“Footbolero, rge and I were present when the head of the fact finding committee was describing the testimonies of all parties – including that of dela paz. We were not provided with the official written findings – we were simply told some facts that were pertinent to the incident.
my memory isn’t as good as rge but the “discussion” points were as follows:
1) Based on witnesses’ accounts, Dela paz clearly started the fight. In his own words – “hinampas ko yung payong.” Others used words by Pagdamanan, caddies, were “poked” “tusok” etc. Dela paz used the word “hinampas” – and its on tape.
2) On the 6th tee, during the “fight” Bino swung his driver at the mayor. There was medical evidence provided to the committee of a fracture to his hand. If a 5′6, 140lbs person swung a driver at me, I am pretty sure I will not be asking his age before I strike back (assuming I survive of course) – and strike back I will with intent to make sure he doesn’t swing that driver again.
3) Dela Paz didn’t give Valley employees and security staff a chance to stop the incident from escalating. Per witness accounts, the dela paz family kept provoking and making threats na “gaganti sila”.
Jovi, if you want to get the whole story – come to valley golf club and make your own investigation and interview the witnesses. RGE is making kuwento and is not a member of the fact finding committee. Majority of the members/employees at Valley know what happened and very few if any are on the dela paz camp.
You are basing your facts too much on a blog and not on actual witness accounts.”
now prominent people from the golfing community are speaking out. are they all biased for the mindanaon pangandamans and not towards one of their own who is the father of two very prominent chanpions?
can’t find the irony of it all eh?
Pangandaman was interviewed on DZMM.

hi guys, i’m a proud member of valley and i was there when that incident happened. For those of you wondering, Valley is doing their own investigation and has been interrogating witnesses on what really happened. The main reason why Valley hasn’t come out with a statement yet is because they want to finish the whole investigation process first. They don’t want to give out a false statement about the situation which in my opinion is the right thing to do.
Also, I just like to ask everybody to not believe everything you read in the newspaper. Atleast, let’s be fair. Just want to remind everybody that the article in the newspaper was Mr. De La Paz’s statement. And since I was there when it happened, and after reading the article this morning, the story lacked a lot of key details that I’m sure Mr. De La Paz will never tell the media. I agree to some that what happened was awful for our club and for golf. But i also believe that we should be fair…there’s always 2 sides of the coin.
I will not reveal the other version of the story (if you want to call it that but just want everybody to know that I don’t even know mayor pangandaman personally), the other version came from club employees who witnessed the incident from hole #6 up to the clubhouse. I’d rather wait for Valley to give out their statement and I really hope that they do to clear any misconceptions.
It’s sad that this had to happen…really wish that it didn’t…
hahaha, natahimik yata bigla ang mga apologists ni de la paz? parang wala na yatang dumedepensa at nagsasabing tama si santa bambee, santo bino, at senor de la paz!
pulis na pogi, better yet, identify yourself.
pulis,
It’s unfortunate that you think this is just about the 2 feuding families even as you unelegantly heckle or seemingly gloat when the other commenters to not ‘engage’.
If you’ve been issued a ‘mission order’to defend the Pangandamans your haughty posturing is only driving home the point of your clients’ perceived arrogance.
Now that’s a pity.
Ding,
It’s unfortunate that you think that i think that this is just about the 2 feuding families even as you unelegantly defend the lynching mob to not ‘engage’ in light of emerging new information.
If you’ve been issued a ‘mission order’to defend the de la Pazes, your fast trigger pull is only driving home the point of your clients’ perceived arrogance.
Ding, when you interpret the report, you have the gall to twist it to suit your needs–never mind the fact that you posted the scanned copy at At Midfield for everyone to see, complete with comments of other posters. Just read the title of your At Midfield post: “Valley Golf Guards Report: Pangandaman Security Men Drew Guns on Dela Pazes.” I scraped the bottom of my brains and recalled the many times i participated in several DSSPC, RSSC, and NSSPC but i just cannot find the relevance of your headline to the rest of the article! i read the lead paragraph i did not find it. i read the whole report, still i did not find it. my, my, my…
And in this Filipino Voices article, imagine yourself saying:
“More revealing, the report points out that the Pangandaman security drew their high-powered rifles menacingly at the Dela Pazes.”
where in the report did you find this? give me a break!
“The Pangandamans in their own ‘counter-account’ have consistently denied that they had any security personnel with them on the VGCC fairway.
What is now clear to me is they lied in this respect.”
another fast trigger pull. in light of rge’s account, the pangandamans now appeared to be telling the truth when they said that they did not have bodyguards in the fairway and that your client de la paz were lying through the skin of their teeth!
the comment of ordinaryobserver in your At Mindfield blog posted at 12:52 said it all, yet to still dared to post this article and make all this twist less than two hours later? ordinaryobserver said:
“I’m sorry, but the report doesn’t really help the de la Paz’s. In the first place, it doesn’t really counteract the Pangandaman’s story that they didn’t have bodyguards on the fairway. All it says is that the security personnel saw the bodyguards on the lower veranda of the clubhouse. It doesn’t preclude that the bodyguards were actually on the fairway with their principals, but it doesn’t confirm it either.
Also, the report only tells us that the bodyguards were carrying high-powered armaments. It says nothing about them using the same to intimidate the de la Paz’s.
Journalist for 30 years? Now that’s a pity.
exactly!its quite unfair that most of the comments are against the pangandamans when in fact they were not present at the valley golf club.it just so happen that the dela paz were the ones who made the initial interview about this.of course they would make it appear that they were the ones who were mistreated and everything.whatever!false accusations!
I would hardly call the incident a “family feud”. It was a random act of senseless violence and power and rage fix on 2 persons (ages are immaterial), fueled by arrogance and contempt.
Hi, ive read most of the comments on this issue. from the very beginning, many of us have been biased reading and hearing only one side of the story. tayong mga tao, may tendency tayo na kampihan agad kung the one who appeared to be more kawawa. and oftentimes, when it involves a mahirap at a mayaman, syempre dun tayo kakampi sa mahirap despite the fact that we didnt witness the scenario ourselves. so now both sides filed a case against each other, let’s just wait for the verdict! at wag naman natin ibuhos ang galit natin kay gma sa mga pangandaman just because cabinet member si sec. pangandaman. the truth will set you free. The truth will eventually prevail. ^^

Ever wonder why Bambee’s blog URL LINK is written as such?

Because the ORIGINAL POST IS ENTITLED

Eye catching, really. But why is it entitled “THE WORLD HAS GONE CRAZY” now?
Did you know that there’s an EARLIER VERSION of the blog? Tsk tsk tsk. Here’s the post from bilocano of PinoyGolfer.com

My comments:
If the current version is compared to the earlier version, one will miss the “colorful” language and a revealing fact, which shows it has been edited and sanitized.
In summary, I couldn’t find the following anymore:
• But I guess the world IS fucked up, and the mayor is too,
• end this bullshit
• piece of jackshit -fuckin’ asshole
• WHAT THE FUCK?!
• He was FUCKIN’ CRYING
• The relentless fuckhead mayor
• (who I swear is ANOTHER fuckin’ idiot)
• My mom had a miniature baseball bat with her, and my older brother had a real one, and they lunge to attack.
• And what is this selfish son of a bitch now?
• The world is fucked up
It is obvious, the piece has been edited.
What this means is the whole story was not told here. The physical violence is, of course, abominable but if this is the kind of “colorful” language that was used, then it would really be difficult to restrain oneself.
The portion deleted that the brother attacked with a baseball bat, that’s very telling. The fact that it was removed means the blog was too frank and honest to serve the purpose of making oneself the total victim.
My take.

So sorry, Bambee, you just lost your credibility.
Wow! i didn’t know bambee (18 yo) could spew such a flowery words.
kape tayo sa starbucks :)
vitriolics and tirades are not the monopoly of the olds. in fact, if you ask me the new generations have more flowery language than the olds, Lurker, that is mys take.
In 2007 : Install farmers, fire Pangandaman
This is to show that the pangandamans has no credibility or whatsoever. The farmers continue to complain even until now.
The request for resignation is not only coming from bambee’s supporters but also coming from the very poor.
“BACOLOD City: Farmers on their 17th day of hunger strike in front of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) central office in Quezon City called on President Arroyo to take the responsibility to install them at Hacienda Velez-Malaga and fire Secretary Nasser Pangandaman for being unfit in his job.”
They should be treated with justice! And I still believe in Karma. They may not suffer in the short run but they will harness the injustice they have done in the long run.
hay naku!dont connect this squabble with any dar thingy issue.
the bottomline is, nasa posisyon ka man o wala, WALA KANG KARAPATANG MANAKIT NG KAPWA. ang hirap kasi sa tin inaabuso natin ang kung anong “power” meron tayo sa gobyerno lalo na at alam natin na malakas ang kapit natin. I admire the dela paz’ kasi ndi madali yung kalabanin rin ang mga prominenteng tao sa pulitika but it only proves na still, kahit ndi nila ka-level yung mga nakabangga nila, may karapatan tayong umalma at ipagtanggol ang sarili. personally, i don’t believe in the justice system here, but since na-sensationalized na ang kaso, hopefully truth shall prevail. kasi maraming mata ang nakabantay. unfortunately, not every case can be sensationalized like this… and not evryone can afford to have a de-kampanilya lawyer.. tsk! tsk! whatever… kawawa pa rin ang mga mahirap. Prayers na lang ang pag-asa..
marami na talagang pinoy ang hindi marunong magbasa…
The pangandamans has no right to claim their PACE of PLAY nor have the rights to PLAY through unless the dela paz agreed to the mayor’s request to play through. Even if the pangandamans were registered to play with the rest of their group but then late , the club marshall should have not let the dela paz teed off in the first place. this could have avoided the “tililing rampage” during the PACE of Play and there will be no “play through request”
Golf etiquette 101: on Play through
“If there is another group immediately ahead of the group you are asking, they will NATURALLY DECLINE to let you through and they will be ANNOYED that you bothered them.”
take note of the word NATURAL and ANNOYED.
The mayor should have accepted that dela paz would not allow them to play through and should have apologized for the inconvenience. The request by the mayor to play through can be annoying especially if the dela paz was in the middle of the fairways, or about to tee off or even on the greens to putt for PAR or Bogey. This is golf ethics. I am sensing that the mayor is a triple bogey player that do not care about the other golfers who can play bogey or at PAR or even on practice ( is not bambee a golf scholar? )
If the dela paz said NO, then the mayor should just accept it and should tell his dad that they were just one hole behind.
The club marshall also had the responsibility to wait for the mayor to catch up with the sr pangandaman. The dela paz could have been warned and should have not been allowed to tee off ahead of the mayor.
So who’s fault? I am for the bambee family. :)
i wonder what is the next thing that the de la paz apologists will say, now that valley golf expells Dela Paz and only suspends for two years the dar chief.
valley golf concluded that de la paz instigated the fight!
Pulis,
masyado ka namang obvious, magkano ba katapat?
true the father dela paz will be expelled but his children, bambee and bino will be spared because according to VGCC they are promising , young filipino golfers whereas the mayor pangandaman is a promising filipino boxer :)
you see the difference folks. this mayor cannot deliver his duty except he can deliver a punch. :)
if we have to consider personality profiling, the pangandamans can be conceived as the public’s enemy number one.
if we have to consider environmental foundation, the pangandamans are more dangerous than the dela paz.
if we have to consider the Constitution’s , the pangandamans were unethical . The DAR secretary had all the power to halt the fight but he never did anything.
if we have to consider golf etiquette, the pangandamans did not care what etiquettes are. he can annoy people at all ages. he was late to follow the normal Pace of play.
In terms of abuse of power, the dela paz abused his power at golf course level . The pangandamans abused their power at national level.
The Pangandamans are typical politicians in the province that always tag along bodyguards with no proper training on when to engage and when to use their brain instead of guns.
at ikaw sleek, matuto ka magbasa. ang liwanag sa dyaryo: “De la Paz’s children Bambee, 18, and Bino, 14, as dependents of an expelled member, were prohibited from the course. Bino, 14, is a member of the Philippine junior golf team, while Bambee is a golf scholar at University of Cincinnati in the United States.”
kaya pala ganyan kabobobo ang mga comments mo, di ka pala makakaintindi ng ingles.
mag aral ka muna…
“The Valley Golf officials “banned for life” nonmembers Nasser Jr. and Hussein for “unruly behavior” at the golf course.
Pangandaman Sr., a member of the golf club, was held “vicariously liable” for the actions of his two sons who were his guests.”
In terms of abuse of power, the dela paz abused his power at golf course level . The pangandamans abused their power at national level.
that was from GMA news. Take note of “UNRULY BEHAVIOR” and “VICARIOUSLY LIABLE” .
Can this be the kind of politicians we always tolerate for office? or both could have known that their behavior was acceptable according to their liking? in politics , Abuse of power.
Resign!!! :)
hahaha, ang layo talaga. di ko mareach. sensya na.
When one cannot find a valid point to throw at an argument, he then attacks his enemy’s character. Your judging the Pangandamans are all foul, I bet not one of you even knew about them until this blew up. And before someone accuses me as a pakawala or “paid” defender of the Pangandamans, paid me, KAYO, MAGKANO ANG BAYAD NG MGA DELA PAZ SA INYO PARA MANIRA NG GANOON NA LANG?
Valley has already made its decision. Now why can’t we all just accept that? The truth isn’t pretty at times. But it IS the truth.
If I were a Bambee supporter (which I am not), I’d get a ticket and accompany her to Lanao for the arraignment because all the Moros will be waiting for her with what she did. But I don’t think your heroine is even in the Philippines… is she here, Mang Delfin?
Oh, the original version of her blog just landed my inbox. DaRN you Bambee, you took us all for a ride!
amen
well said, shut.open. =]
