In short, the key is not trust but the frameworks given at the end of the blog post. Trust follows from implementation of such.

Unfortunately, the main source of corruption comes from the same government that is supposed to set up such frameworks.

Passage from a book I wrote back in 2006:

[...] the three key enablers to developing a cohesive and productive society – security, empowerment, and access. Without security there can be no OPENNESS. Without empowerment, there can be no EFFICIENCY. Without access there can be no SIMPLICITY. A society where everything is closed, inefficient, and complicated is fertile breeding ground for corruption.

How do we establish Trust in Pinoy society?

Frankly, i don't know. I think the point of this blog is to progressively come up with the answers in the course of exploring the issues.

Fundamentally right.

But the thing is, how do we establish trust?

Maybe by electing popular leaders? Estrada? Poe? Panlilio?

gotta agree in principle with this one. it's a basic human urge, to game the system if it's been set up as a challenge. we pile rules upon rules without looking at the root cause -which is that a labyrnth will foster cheating to get those trapped in it, out of it.

"...if you can't trust a man by his word..."

"creating an environment where mutual trust can take root. And a good starting point is to create fair, simple, and transparent governance frameworks where accountability rules; not controls."

yep. totally agree.
