Earlier today, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo made her first public statement with regards to the declaration of Martial Law in Maguindanao. She used the lecture series for Quezon City Public School Teachers as an opportunity to address her critics as well as justify her decision to impose Martial Law in the province of Maguindanao.
The video is the full speech of President Arroyo.

First, free speech is fundamentally connected to all other freedoms, including economic freedom. The oft-used dichotomy between “economic” and “social” freedoms is at best cumbersome, and sometimes dangerous. On the practical level, any society that does not allow the free exchange and study of ideas and a vigorous pursuit of knowledge is no place for an economist. Free speech is a precondition to good economics.
Also, this gives me the ability to say and first of all to express my feelings in regards to our Freedom of Speech. Whether it be in private, or public[behind the podium] realm, without infringing the individuals rights, to express their phylosophical thoughts, or ideas, through the use of the internet, or public speaking.
Quote from: John Milton
“As good almost kill a man as kill a good book. Who kills a man kills a reasonable creature, God’s image; but he who destroys a good book, kills reason itself, kills the image of God, as it were in the eye.”
This is where our Constitutional Rights, should stand and not be torn apart. Not just a quick response from a higher authority, who holds a position in office. Where the decision making should have been made or discuss with the committee, that involves the process of making decisive action(s) taken. Our Constitution, should never be compromise by the individual, just because they hold office in the highest authority. One, cannot break or transgress our Constitution. It is our Rights!
What is a “CONSTITUTION” if they “TRANSGRESS” its properties.
What GMA spoke in regards to the crimes committed, also to the act of terrorism. I do hope she would adhere to her
statements and would not allow these ruthless oppositions to go without punishment. Or, to be release back into our society.
With the words spoken and by its laws, opposing warlords should not go unpunished for such atrocious act.
To the Teachers of our land. Hopefully our administrations will also apply its basics to the educating our young minds. These
are the educators of our children, for without them, there would be no one to guide us in the future to come. I commend you all.
