Who’s Afraid Of The ZTE Man?

May 15th, 2008 by Nick

It’s a stretch to say that this next round of revelations will push The defunct and corruption ladened ZTE broadband deal back into the media spotlight.  With the rice crisis and Meralco taking up all the space and all.

But, it seems that even with everything else happening around the nation, and around the world, the palace is trying so hard to downplay this issue, that it seems almost obviously clear that it may still be afraid of what ZTE and the NBN deal scandal can do to its seat in power.

So, who’s afraid of the new ZTE Man?  The ZTE man that appears to be beside President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, as she went golfing during her trip to China to finalize the NBN deal?  We’ll answer that later.

But this NBN deal, this is a backroom deal, only it seems it was made in the golf course.  This is politics, mixed with business.  Can  they really be separated?  More importantly, why should we be surprised that they are downplaying this with all their might?

The NBN deal is big for this administration, it is big, because it can connect the dots to many other unscrupulous deals.  It is big because it shows another side to The Arroyo Administration.  The wheeling and dealing side of its political machinery.  Not only are they good at “stealing” elections, they are excellent in selling our country.. for a profit of course.

We know so many things, that are very certain, Gloria knew about the bribe, Gloria knew that the deal was tainted even before her meeting, Gloria knew all this and still proceeded to pursue the deal, and yet she is still walking with arrogance, with her church backers standing behind her, and still in power because we are so damned petrified of what another overthrow of government will do.

Gloria for all the wrongs she has done, can do as much wrongs as she pleases, because she has within her grasp, the perfect storm of politics, military, religion, and money to keep her in power.

And I guess, we have just answered our own question.  Who’s afraid of the ZTE Man.  Certainly not Gloria.

  • There’s no one to blame but the “genuine opposition” who do nothing but throw mud at Gloria, instead of looking for genuine rocks that could bring her down and wound her fatally when hurled.

Does anyone realize that with each scandal brought up and survived, GMA only becomes stronger?

  • @Jon, stronger is the key word, it solidifies her argument that she has done nothing wrong, and that the opposition is the one to blame for a divided republic.

I just don’t think that the opposition has enough cohesiveness, to withstand Gloria’s strategists.. The strategy to keep Neri out of The Senate, and then invoke executive privilege, and then have her courts shoot down the Senate’s attempt for an unobstructed investigation??

And then she has the DOJ, the military..

    She’s freakin’ brilliant.

    Gloria:1,000,999 points
    Opposition: 10 points (for effort)

  • Nick,

Sadly enough, her rhetoric of a “Strong Republic” takes on a gory, obscene twist on the word “strong”.

    Ten points for effort indeed.

That picture is a prime example of such. If I wanted to implicate Gloria based merely on photographs, I would zoom in on the golf car behind her and identify by face and name the ZTE officials allegedly accompanying them.
