Why Do We Blog?

Why do we blog, if not to be copied?

Why do we blog, if not to be linked?
Why do we blog, if not to be admired?

Why do we blog, if not to be remembered?
Why do we blog, if not to infect others,
In a mutual contagion,

With the ideas that we love?

Yet the heart has reasons
That reason knows nothing of–
These are the things
that really matter to our Selves.

Our memes are,  to our minds,
What our genes are,  to our bodies.
Only the fittest survive,
And no one gets out alive.

You have but an hour on the stage.

Speak your lines with Gravity,

Good Humor and Grace.

We blog because words are words and you can play around them.

You can be smart, cheeky and be intellectual even if you’re not…and have that 15 seconds of fame. Kind of almost like love as Pascal said and you reiterated. For whatever reasons, it is none of anyone’s business.

  2. We blog because.

  3. Dean,

It may not be the best line but keep the last one anyway.

I mean that: “No tags for this post.” haha

None of the above for me. My blog took the place of actual conversations I have with my pals who are now overseas. We communicate what’s on our minds through our blogs. In short, these are things that we talk about during inumans.

I blog because I want to provide support to like-minded individuals who are sincere in their love for Philippines
I blog because I find it entertaining
I blog because I hate reading blogs of self proclaimed experts who enjoy blogging but censors others in the blogosphere either by calling them psedo this or pseudo that but in fact they are the pseudo blog police or pseudo-dean of economics twisting the truth
I blog because I hate lies and untruths being told about our country progressing though we are really are poor and exporting maids all over the world (In Greece, Filipina is synonymous to maid)
I blog because I want to encourage everyone that hard work pays off
I blog because I believe Philippines can still be great again if we all contribute

You know Dean, despite those who say we cannot, this has never been a hobby for me.. some days, I just want to turn away.. but then I always remember my motherland.. and blogging has become probably one of the most important aspect of my life.

I do it for one reason, some days it is different, depending on the mood.. but all in all, I truly want to make a difference, and I see the great possibility for this tool of democracy, which is why we do what we do.

I want to learn, I want to be inspired, I want to know that there are Filipinos such as myself, who cannot let go, and who wish something better.. and even if we are a million miles away from our goal, I fervently hope that there is one thing we all have in common, a love for our nation and our people, such that we just cannot let go of the issues…

most specifically for political and social bloggers, I truly believe they want to understand the issues in a more profound manner, that they are willing to dive into this arena, knowing full well, that there are days, where inspiration is nowhere to be found.. where it seems like it is always an uphill battle.

I’m at a point in my life, where I feel a civic duty, and while I always planned to take a more active role in public policy and politics later in my life, I figured, why not start now.. for some, blogging is part of that civic duty, whether we couple it with other concrete steps like an advocacy we believe in, it is still, I believe, a way to take active participation in what happens to our nation and our kababayans..

So, this is my reason, a more specific reason really, as to why I blog..

We are not there yet Dean, but that journey of a thousand miles has already begun..

  7. I started blogging and joined on-line forum as a therapy against my greatest suspicion that Filipinos cannot be trusted no matter the stacks of bible they carry; nor rosary beads they hang in their mirror; nor their thumbs developed callous tweddling the holy mary/our father combo prayers;

that Filipinos’ everlasting jealousy and crabbing past time almost cost me my job, had my career in tatters for doing not the extra mile but a thousand mile …

My ranting is directed at Flipinos so when I go back to the PHilipines I will have effected a change so I’d be living a good life with fellow Filipinos who I already despised and distrusted in America.

In America, the difference between Filipinos and other ethnic minority is so GLARING. The success of Filipinos are having a Toyota and a Honda whereas the success of other ethnic minority is measured by European cars … success of Filipinos in America is easting hamburger, whereas, success by other ethnic monorities is not standing in line for food but delivered to their table … intelligence of Filipinos in America and in the PHilippines is the betterer they speakengese goot country club englischtzes the more intelligent, whereas, other ethnic minority groups can barely speakengese goot country club englischtzes but made an impact to America more than Filipinos who allowed themselves to be led, commanded, controlled, pushed around and meekly follow …

  8. Diving in politics to effect change makes a monster of us. Take Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena. He tore up his US Green Card to serve the pipol and became a monster.

Vigilantes has become a norm in Cebu City but it did made Cebu City safer …with the catholic populace in agreement …

To our Readers and to DJB:

We Post in the Blog Site on the following reasons:

    1. Opinon and Views Sharing- Some have good opinions, some have bad
opinions, some have opinions that are for sale and have sold it.
We need to inform our fellow citizens. It is the way that our leaders
and politicians misinform and disinform our fellow citizens, that they can be voted in office and remain in power. Informed citizens are guarantee that tyrants will not tske their hold in our country.
Knowledge, opinions and informations are like Smiles. They are useless unless they are shared.

    2. For Globalization and Connectivity- We are now in the World trend
for Globalization. We have to connect to each other and to the World
in general. Information is widely available, not only locally, but
internationally. Advances in sciences and studies can be known easily
at your fingertips. We have not known an age in human history, where
    we are living in now.

    3. Social Purposes – Filipinos are very clannish and sociable people.
This is a unique character in our culture. We bond with our family
members, relatives, townmates, fellow tribe people, organizations of
any cause, etc…In other words, we just want to say “hello” and feel
    connected.

  11. I POST BLOGS TO EMBARASS FLIPpinos! FlipPinos are either in denial or just plain stupid or oblivious!

To change Flips is to embarass them. Problem is Flips are so thick-face because they don’t know what embarasses them. THE ONLY THING THAT EMBBARASS FILIPINOS IS BEING SEEN RIDING A BUS!!!! HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!

  13. Primer C. Pagunuran Primer says:

    Tasio,
That makes for an interesting point – opinions for sale simply means writers for sale.
Would you have any idea who these are although one can easily tell from what they write, how they write, when they write.
Do you have any idea how much they are paid?
In other words, FV has just become a landing site with no one pilot or corporate airline paying any toll or fee upon arrival of “cargo”?
