Will Ako Mismo Become The Noli-MVP/MVP-Noli Political Party?

A full weekend has passed since the glitzy quad media launch of the ‘Ako Mismo’ advocacy.

That  brand launch was powered by a bevy of brand endorsers paired with motherhood mottos for Filipino to take charge of their individual and collective destinies and be actively involved as catalysts for positive, and progressive, social change.

This writer, however, is surprised that after break-out day surge of 70,000-plus on-line commitments. Ako Mirmo.org’s pledge tally has seemingly slowed to an 85,000-plus total.

This may surely still pick up but the issue that’s percolating negatively about Ako Mismo’s politically-pristine goals is the speculation that it’s just one of those mushrooming  movement that are nothing but thinly disguised vehicles for the presidential and vice-presidential tickets that are being shuffled around.

Noted political ‘futurist’ Tony Gatmaitan is first off the punditry block with the analysis that a new party is being formed for Vice President Noli De Castro to be paired with PLDT top honcho Manny Pangilinan.

It takes little imagination to connect Mr. Gatmaitan’s analysis to Ako Mismo given the admission of PLDT-Smart ad agency DDB Philippines that it is the creative force behind Ako Mismo.

Veep Noli De Castro is himself described by one of the Lakas party political operators, Ray Roquero, as being “ coy” about his presidential ambitions.

But it really is a no-brainer for anyone to realize that De Castro’s own socialized housing infomercials are, at the very least, also designed to keep him in the top of mind of all voters.

Taking Ako Mismo’s campaign side by side with De Castro’s then you have the obvious trial balloons to gauge if the proferred MVP-De Castro/De Castro- MVP ticket can capture the imagination of the Filipino electorate, including the two million first-timers who will swell the total number of registered voters to well past the 42-million mark.

No one will really be surprised if Ako Mismo does become the electoral machinery that people are beginning to think it will be.
