Well the former president, pardoned after being convicted on plunder charges, apparently thinks so with his handlers raring to reactivate JEEP – the Joseph Ejercito Estrada for President organization.
Several weeks ago Estrada himself put his iconic Jeep Ni Erap customized jeepney back on the street in Legaaspi City and over the weekend it was reported that Estrada was buying not a new jeepney but a brand new 6-passenger Aerospatiale helicopter also to be used in his island hopping political sorties.

This acquisition of the chopper with a market price of 1.6-M dollars, to my mind, sets Erap’s intentions for seeking the country’s highest elective office in a more definitive way.
Mr. Estrada has also said he was only joking about running for Congress should Gloria Macapagal Arroyo take that route next year.
So it will indeed be to the court of last resort, the Supreme Court, that Mr. Estrafda will be throwing his lot.
Estrada believes that with the presiderntil pardon having restored his political and civil rights, the Court will buy his assertion that since he was considered to have “constructively resigned” in 2001, he Is qualified to seek the presidency again “because it is 1 year short of the constitutional provison which says a president that has served for at least four years cannot seek reelection.

Its debatable kung outside Spanish sovereignty nga ang AbuBakr noon 1898. i have not heard anything, reality check, except that mancao is said to have implicated both lacson and estrada, under oath. i’m not saying there is hard evidence against estrada, but you see, i’m just making a bet with ding as to whether or not estrada would be indicted (not necessarily convicted). the issue is whether probable cause exists vis a vis estrada. if the evidence against lacson turns out to be indubitable and overwhelming, he might just be compelled to invoke any extenuating circumstance available, including possibly insufferable pressure from a superior.

Why create a lot of negative public reaction by letting things get political by indicting Erap? Unless the evidence vs Erap is super strong, I would think they’ll leave him out of it.
That doesn’t preclude the possibility of new, solid evidence emerging during Lacson’s trial.
Lacson ratting on Erap? Could be. Lacson dying before then? Could be. But — for now — I’m not so sure the evidence against Lacson is so solid itself. Hearsay of hearsay, or at best pure hearsay might be all they have. We’ll have to wait and see.

Mancao (and Dumlao) got caught up in the White House spy scandal case (in which the US has clearly fingered the masters as Lacson, Erap and…Pimentel was it? Biazon? I forget). Anyway, he was hauled into US Fed courts and one can assume he freaked out. He had been left to rot in a little corner with a little life…then the roof caved in.
All of the info being/to be coughed up is a consequence of that reality. Being eventually expedited to the Phils — which had made a formal request (duh!) — is a natural end result. And I’m sure the US is being VERY cooperative. I’m sure the DOJ is ecstatic (as is anyone who is anti-Lacson).
That said, it wasn’t – as DJB writes – some intricate conspiratorial plan to create an event to stop Erap from running for Prez (he legally can’t anyway) or to justify martial law (how????). That’s really contorting reality to fit to one’s extreme bias. How far-fetched!
Now, are the admin types happy? I’m sure. Will they milk this? I’m sure. But that’s a lot different than saying this was just one big sham.
realitycheck, i don’t think there’s a crying need for the administration to “milk” the case. i think gma’s candidate will win by plurality if her 40% solid supporters show up for the cause. estrada and/or lacson’s candidacy can only help the gma-anointed, not hinder it.

The source told me: “the move to implicate Erap remains an option but such will have to be buttressed by interlocking testimony/ies which is not yet at hand.”
I need to revalidate this with at least a second source.
My gut tells me a lot is contingent on what Mancao will eventually testify to, plus the eventual return to Manila of Glen Dumlao and Michael Rey Aquino.
Your guess is as good as anyone else’s in terms of the two coming back to Manila, and being put on the witness stand before the 10th of May next year.
